Pargo inks deal with Bobcats, Tolliver has contract offer

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The Bobcats and journeyman Jannero Pargo have reached an agreement on a one-year contract worth $1.4 million to be the team's third point guard this season. Additionally, the Bobcats have offered forward Anthony Tolliver a one-year deal.

According to our friend Rick Bonnell, free agent Jannero Pargo has reached a deal with the Charlotte Bobcats.

Pargo signed a one-year, $1.4-million contract Thursday afternoon just hours after Beno Udrih signed with the New York Knicks, who were rumored to be interested in Pargo.

The 33-year-old point guard played 18 games with the Bobcats last season, averaging 8.4 points and 1.9 assists in 18 minutes per game. Pargo was inconsistent but solid overall and filled in well for an injured Ramon Sessions.  The Bobcats are Pargo's seventh team in nine seasons.

Bonnell also reported that free-agent forward Anthony Tolliver has received an offer from the Bobcats but is mulling his offers.

Tolliver is a sweet-shooting big man that averaged 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15 minutes per game for the Atlanta Hawks last season. He's a great locker room presence and was very vocal during the NBA lockout. He even debated CBS Sports' Matt Moore late one night.

While neither of these players are critical to the team's success, both are excellent teammates and lead by example. They fit the culture Rich Cho has created and address very specific (albeit unimportant) needs. Neither of the deals are long-term, so there's really nothing to worry about in that regard. Let's just be glad Pargo's back.
