Charlotte Bobcats at New York Knicks game preview

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

Knicks fans may be surprised by this, but the Bobcats could give the Knicks a run for their money tonight, especially with Tyson Chandler out with a bulging disc.

Tyson Chandler consistently bruised the Bobcats with efficient scoring and great rebounding to help them win three of the four games he's played against the Bobcats since joining the Knicks. Chandler averaged 17 points, 13 rebounds, a couple blocks and all on 87.5 percent shooting. No, that's no typo.

Despite his absence, the Knicks have won six straight and have started Kenyon Martin in his stead. Their defense is pretty solid and rotates well and they have plenty of experience. However, their offense can be more spotty. Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith are ball-dominant shooters, but they can be pretty efficient at times. Smith is especially playing well of late. Anthony is of course one of the most skilled offensive players.

The Bobcats are playing fairly well lately, though mostly against bad-to-mediocre teams. One of the Bobcats' main weaknesses is rebounding, so they might match up better with New York sans Chandler. With better ball movement and still the ability to score in isolation, the Bobcats could make this a challenging game.
