Bobcats to sign Jannero Pargo, Charlotte Observer reports

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

The eight-year player journeyman will be making a stop in Charlotte, reports say.

Rick Bonnell reports the Bobcats will sign veteran point guard Jannero Pargo to a 10-day contract in the wake of Ramon Sessions' strained MCL, per a source.

Pargo has played for six teams previously: the Lakers, Raptors, Bulls, Hornets, Bulls (twice), Hawks (twice) and most recently, the Wizards.

Charlotte has found themselves with a need for point guard help after Sessions went down against Brooklyn last week. It seems the Reggie Williams Point Guard Project (c) and Ben Gordon Point Guard Project (c) aren't panning out so well.

Yet, it makes less than zero sense to me why the Bobcats would look at Pargo, he of the sub-40% career FG shooter. Pargo's assist percentage is mere 21.9 percent with a 14.4 turnover percentage for his career. And this year in his two stints with Washington and Atlanta. This whole season, Pargo is shooting 30 percent from the field. The sample size is small, but there's not much room to improve when looking at his career baseline.

I'm no expert on NBA D-League players, but I find it hard to believe there isn't anyone better the Bobcats could possibly call up.
