Tonight the Bobcats play... Who: The Miami Heat; Where: Miami; When: 7:30; Player to Watch: Any player at the SF position
Projected Starting Lineups:
Bobcats | Heat
This road trip has already been a rough one for the Bobcats. It's not just the tough games and the losing streak, but the Bobcats lost their rising rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to a concussion Saturday in Houston, making the tough road trip even more difficult. The Heat are last year's NBA champions and we all know why. LeBron James is the best player in the NBA, insanely talented at nearly every aspect of the game. Dwyane Wade, despite decreasing athleticism, is still a great player capable of dropping an efficient scoring line and facilitating ball movement as well as anyone. And the underrated Chris Bosh is arguably having his best year yet as a member of the Miami Heat. The Bobcats ... uhhh ... we have Bismack Biyombo? So ... go us?
Let's go into why missing Kidd-Gilchrist is a huge hindrance on the Bobcats. MKG is a staple in Mike Dunlap's lineup, even though Dunlap might not use him as much as he could. He‘s started every game but one and, according to 82games.com, is in the 4 most used lineups the Bobcats put on the court, and being damn effective MKG averages 13 points Per 36 Minutes with a TS% of .527 and an eFG% .472. Not too bad stats for a rookie playing major minutes. His time will be missed dearly.
What you want to watch out for tonight is who Mike Dunlap is playing at the SF position tonight. Dunlap will likely be mixing it up looking for a player to replace MKG while he's out with a concussion. Don't pay attention to how well the player is playing because, regardless, LeBron is going to destroy everybody with his defense. Pay attention to how well they fit with the players on the floor. Do they fill the role that MKG leaves? Does the offense look better with Gerald Henderson at the 3 or Hakim Warrick. OK, I think we all know the answer to that one but the point is be observant and don't let the result be a big deal. There is a slight chance of a Bobcats victory as the Heat have been playing down to their opponent in a major way this year. And, hey, in the NBA anything can happen.
