Oh gosh it's the Spurs. The Spurs and Bobcats have been polar opposites the past decade. The Spurs, constant winners, championships, always at the top of the NBA and a model of consistency. The Bobcats on the other hand, coaches coming in and out, new players, failed lottery picks, a model of inconsistency.
Tonight's game against the Spurs will not be an easy one for the Bobcats. No siree, I don't expect it in the slightest. I expect them to lose and I think most sensible basketball fans should expect this as well. The Spurs have the best record in basketball right now and this is in large thanks to the great play of Tony Parker and the immortal Tim Duncan.
Lets start with Parker: Parker is scoring 22.1 points per 36 minutes with a TS% .586 and a eFG% of .542. An eFG% over 50 is is always impressive. Having it almost at 55? That's absolutely amazing. Now I know Kemba Walker and Ramon Session aren't defensive monsters so they're going to struggle mightily against a player this good. If the Bobcats want to have any chance at winning it will have to start here against Parker.
Another key for the Bobcats will be Bismack Biyombo. This is from the twitter account of RoF editor Josh Priemski "Commenter on RoF: In 31pg minutes, Biz has produced 5.5 points on 56% shooting, 10.3 rebounds, 1.25 steals, and 3.5 blocks last four games." That's a very nice stat line to here and I think it means the young Biyombo is starting to figure out this game of basketball. His defense has been very solid as of late with him coming off rotations strong and preventing easy buckets. He's been a block machine at times and is starting to challenge more and more players at the rim. Make sure to watch Biyombo tonight. The Spurs have a lot of big men who can go out to the arc and shoot and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to this. If Duncan plays tonight (he's questionable) he will also go up against Duncan so we want to see how he does against the experienced veteran.
Trends to watch out for
How much the Bobcats dribble: A trend the Bobcats have had as of late is a lack of passing and way too much dribbling. They're constantly dribbling themselves into bad situations. Way too many times will they dribble the ball right into the corner and get double teamed.
