My own Mockseason

Hello fellow Charlotte Basketball fans! It’s so nice and refreshing to come to a blog where people are actually talking about the future instead of making fun of the misery that was the 2011-2012 season. First of all, I think it’s very important to change our name. I think that before the draft, Tom Benson will change the names of the hornets and then we can finally have out name back. I think this will once again re-energize the city’s enthusiasm in the team. Here are some other moves I would like to see:

Coaching:

Nate McMillan – Because of our offensive woes, its often overlooked that our defense was awful. McMillan is the best defensive coach available. At the end of the day, defense wins championships. He also has roots in NC.

Trades:

Trade 2nd overall pick + PF Tyrus Thomas to the Kings for the 5th overall pick + PG Tyreke Evans + 2nd round pick – I believe that a lot of teams will fall in love with MKG and the bobcats should create a bidding war for the 2nd overall. Kings were planning to move Tyreke Evans anyway because they don’t think they can resign him. The kings might also take a chance on TT, who might play better with a change of scenery. Bobcats can grab another great prospect with the fifth pick and get a dynamic playmaker in Tyreke Evans.

Free Agency:

Sign Antawn Jamison – Jamison lives in Charlotte and has said he was would like to play for our team. He is a great leader that can be a good mentor for our younger players.

Draft:

1st round pick – SF Harrison Barnes – Barnes is a great prospect that is a very efficient scorer. Barnes has a good relationship with Jordan and I think he will prosper playing in Charlotte. Just so you know, I have a huge Wolfpack fan so this is the farthest thing from a homer pick J I think he really is that good!

2nd round pick – SG Will Barton - If this guy came into the draft next year, he would be a lottery pick. He needs to put on a lot of weight to fit his 6’6 frame, but he extremely athletic and can score the ball(18ppg). He is worth the risk in the second round.

2nd round pick(via Kings) – PF Kyle O’Quinn – Kyle was one of the most efficient scorers during his career at Norfolk State. He would be a great big off the bench.

Depth chart:

PG – Tyreke Evans, Kemba Walker

SG – Gerald Henderson, Will Barton, Matt Carroll

SF – Harrison Barnes, Corey Maggette, Reggie Williams

PF – Antawn Jamison, Kyle O’Quinn, DJ White

C – Bismack Biyombo, Byron Mullens, Dasagna Diop
