Despite rumors the Bobcats were looking for a trade partner, and prognostication all day that the pick would be traded the organization decided to side with motor and leadership as they took Michael Kidd-Gilchrist with the #2 overall pick.
This was a team bereft of talent at multiple positions, and needed a leader desperately. The work ethic, and leadership of Kidd-Gilchrist is storied as he rallied and organized a team full of NBA talent as he organized workouts aside from organized activities.
While the Charlotte Bobcats wont improve in their scoring immediately, he will help them all over the floor as the organization bides their time to find the scoring they need. This is building a team for the long-term, and MKG will be a vital second, or third option in a winning NBA culture.
If you think it's safe to turn off the TV I wouldn't be so sure. There are still rumors the Bobcats are working on a second deal, and have been talking at length with Houston. It may be a long night before we see how this pans out.
Until then, welcome to Charlotte MKG!
