This is a trade, reported thu CBSSPORTS, that could change the direction of this team. Just happens to be one teams overflow of talent (okc) and the sad reality of the salary cap that could get us moving forward to becoming respectable (not good ,thats way off). OKC has done business with us before, and we could actually be there best partner for a decent return. I feel the report just scratches the surface. heres why ....after the jump
- with the #2 pick they can EITHER pick a post player that can score (someone like t. robinson) down low and be a presence/threat down low or, since they are plying with house money, add an unknown like andre drummond, who if he turns into deandre jordan is a positive but could be dwight howard and then watch out.
- since a move like this will have to involve more then harden- for- #2, its more likley the thunder want to replace harden with a cheaper alt so they can extend serge ibaka....enter gerald henderson! OKC gets a player that would be a defensive stopper, decent scoring option, hustle stat guy who can still play the same SG 6th man role OR start over thabo sefalosha at SF. wheres OKC gonna find a replacement for harden AND a higher pick offer in 2 weeks?
- this also allows us to pick from OKC's depth at PG with a roster that includes eric maynor OR reggie jackson. dj augustin has been stated as NOT being qualified this summer, so we dont have to shop for a backup to kemba if we include this, and we save at least 2 mill by picking up say reggie jacksons 1 mill over augustin's 3 mill quailfier.
CHA gets SF/SG james harden, PG reggie jackson
OKC gets #2 (robinson?drummond?), SG gerald henderson
its stated simply in the CBS report, ibaka needs to be extended. thats leavesharden as a luxury, you cant break up that starting 5 thats in the finals no matter how well harden scores off their bench.
