(SB Nation, Mike Prada) Golden State Warriors assistant coach Mike Malone, long seen as one of the most likely assistants in the league to get a head coaching position, will interview for the Charlotte Bobcats' vacancy, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The Warriors' assistant has never been a head coach, but is seen as being capable for the position, having been an assistant for over a decade.

Malone has been with the Warriors for one season serving as Mark Jackson's lead assistant. Prior to that, he was with the New Orleans Hornets for one year. He really made a name for himself as the lead assistant under Mike Brown in Cleveland for the five seasons prior to his Hornets stint.

The Bobcats have pursued big names such as former Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan and former Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan, but Malone is only the second candidate to interview for the position. Stephen Silas, son of former coach Paul and previous lead assistant, also interviewed for the position.
