Charlotte Bobcats at Portland Trail Blazers preview -- Game 23

Game Overview: The Blazers have been inconsistent lately, mostly because they don't have great guard play. Former Bobcat Raymond Felton has been the focal point of this weakness, especially because his shooting so far makes Larry Hughes look good. Check out these percentages: 36.2% FG, 19.7% 3P. Oof. He's been fine as a facilitator, but his turnovers are also up. And if you add to it the general dismal play from the rest of the guards, you understand why they struggle. LaMarcus Aldridge is a star-quality leader for Portland, but without the outside play and speed to go with his inside and midrange strengths, it's easier for opponents to play them. Those opponents probably don't include the Bobcats. No one is easy to play for this team.

In a strange turn of events, Gerald Wallace is shooting amazingly well in the Rose Garden. The normally even-keel Wallace is shooting 62.9% at home, averaging 18.5 points per game with home court advantage. It'll be interesting to see if it remains near this for the rest of the season or regresses to the average.

Key Matchup: Tyrus Thomas/Boris Diaw vs. Aldridge -- Aldridge is a tricky guard for Thomas, if Thomas does indeed play the 4 tonight. Or Diaw, whoever it is guarding him. Aldridge's footwork is excellent and his variety of strengths on offense make him one of the best power forwards in the league.
