Hornets Looking to Trade Kaman
What do you guys think? Do we want him? If we did, what would it take to get him?

Chances are
they want a pick for Kaman…and I dont think Im willing to trade a pick for an expiring contract in the predicament we are in. He’ll probably land on the Celtics who have a couple young guys and first to spare.
He's expiring
so he’ll probably end up with with a decent team still looking at the playoffs this year like Golden State or the Celtics like focus says. I think he’s just old enough that the Bobcats wouldn’t look to resign him long term after this year.
Very true...but...
The Celtics are on the fringe of a rebuild themselves…does he fit there?
Bobcats Basketball is my only pro sports passion...
as long as the Aging 3
are there; will be making moves for the playoffs. It’s the beginning of a brutal scheduled season. The Celts will probably make a late charge like they do every year and make the playoffs. Kaman fits well there. Worst case scenario, they shed cash for free agents. Boston doesn’t need to build in the draft. It’s a desirable location.
Advocating the correct nickname for Tyrus Thomas be: Tyrusauras.

That's certainly not what Ainge has been saying.

we would not be in the market for him
We NEED picks, not the opposite. He’s an inconsistent, injury prone big man. Sound familiar? While he probably makes THIS team better for the time being, he doesn’t do us any good in the long term.

Exactly
Why would we give away a young player and a pick to get an expiring old big man? The fact of the matter is that we’re trying to do the exact same thing New Orleans is so we won’t be trading with them; we’ll be competing against them to dump off garbage and pick up assets.

+1
Unless it’s a straight up swap for Maggette, I’m not interested. And even that trade makes us worse in the short term.

Actually Kaman
is a very good choice for us. But I cant see us being the destination he choses. NOH seem to really appreciate how well he’s handled knowing that he wont be a long term member of their team. Thus, he’ll be sent to a team that will probably resign him or have a chance to make it to the playoffs at least. Kaman is the ideal big man IMO. He is only 28yrs old. A young vet. He avgs close to a double double for his career and just a couple years ago he was a lil better than this. I see a team like Houston being the best choice for him. Being that they didnt extend any of their players from 09 (Flynn, TWill, Dragic, Hill, Thabeet) they have the best choices for NOH’s “youth movement”… But Kaman will probably be moved to a contending team and it seems the Bucks, Celtics and Blazers would be the frontrunners for him…
I agree.
I’d like to have Kaman on a 2 or 3 year deal, but not for the money he’ll probably get paid. I do think he is a starting quality center, but was just pointing out that if we traded Maggette for him, we would then only have Brown, Diaw, and Thomas to play SF and I don’t need to tell you how awful that is. We’re decent enough at the center spot to make it through the season I think.

If only Emeka had hated stretching and staying on the court like Brown would have preferred.

Not the right move for us
basically he doesn’t fit the rebuild plan for us unless we are only giving up a multi-year contracted veteran ourselves (no picks or young players), and we all know that NO are not going to trade on those parametres.

Wouldn't make any sense.
We have no assets less important to our future than Kaman will be for the next two months, so it doesn’t even matter what they would want.. That’s all there is to it.
