Would you do this trade? DJ, Tyrus to LAL and Diaw to ATL

This is based off of several rumors...Diaw being on the block and Hawks fans wanting Gasol and willing to give up Josh Smith to do so
<!--StartFragment-->

This trade couldn't be done until March 1st due to McRoberts signing a recent contract with the Lakers though

<!--StartFragment-->

Lakers trade: Gasol, Blake, Fisher, McRoberts, Mavs 1st, (Use their Trade Exception)

Lakers get: Josh Smith, Augustin, Tyrus, Hinrich, Zaza

C-Bynum/ Zaza

PF-Smith/ Tyrus

SF-Artest/ Barnes

SG-Kobe

PG-Augustin/Hinrich

Lakers do this because: they get 2 PG's that will help them sooo much better then Blake and Fisher...Augustin is playing great this year and would be an ideal fit with the Lakers...Hinrich will be good to go in early February and will add great defense to this backcourt and can play the 2 guard as well...until he's healthy, they can continue to run with Morris as the back up PG...Now as far as Gasol goes, yes he will be missed...BUT they turn him into THREE big bodies...Josh Smith will space out the floor more for Bynum and is a lot younger and cheaper then Gasol, plus tougher...Tyrus and Zaza will be great off the bench, providing rebounds and gritty defense

On a side note, if the Magic are desperate, they could still trade Bynum, picks and whatever...you know Dwight would love playing with Josh Smith...that might not be enough for the Magic, but who knows???...Bynum has looked really good thus far this season

Hawks trade: Josh Smith, Zaza, Hinrich

Hawks get: Gasol, Diaw, Fisher

C-Gasol/ Diaw

PF-Horford/ Vlad

SF-Marvin

SG-Johnson/ TMac

PG-Teague/Fisher

Hawks do this because: they get Gasol! This adds size to the front court that the Hawks have been needing...Gasol would look great beside Horford...now another great thing about this trade is that they add Diaw, who could fill in at PF while Horford is out for the next couple months...I've seen a lot of people say a Josh Smith/Teague for Gasol trade...but this allows them to keep their up and coming PG...losing Zaza wont be too bad, cuz once Horford comes back, Diaw can play the back up PF or Center spot...this is a win now trade obviously for the Hawks

Bobcats trade: Augustin, Diaw, Tyrus

Bobcats get: Blake, McRoberts, Mavs 1st

C-Mullins/Biyombo

PF-White/McRoberts

SF-Magette

SG-Henderson/Reggie Williams

PG-Blake/Kemba

Bobcats do this because: they are making more roster moves for a complete rebuild...Diaw is already on the block...not cuz he's bad, cuz he isnt motivated...he knows this isn't a playoff team...on the Hawks, I think the versatile Diaw will be be back to his old self...also, while losing their best player in Augustin, they know they have to with Kemba as the future...they get Mavs 1st rounder and Steve Blake, whose contract is fine and can move to backup whenever Kemba is ready to start...McRoberts is looking solid this year and I think could find a nice role on this team...not to mention, they get to move Tyrus' contract, leaving their amnesty clause for Gana Diop or Magette if they want to use it on either of them

Not sure if you all think this is good value or not

I know several of you guys have been saying you would hope to get a 1st rounder back for DJ….some have said 2…but the fact that this trade gets rid of Tyrus’ contract, I say only one 1st rounder is enough haha

Blake starting over Kemba?

It’s a well thought out trade that would benefit all teams though. The Lakers would come out great though.

I'm gonna live forever, I'm never gonna die. The only thing I fear is I'm never gonna fly.

I only have him starting over Kemba if Silas didnt feel he was ready yet

I personally wouldn’t care…this trade would instantly make us the worse team for the time being this year, which is fine…i just hope we won the draft lottery

we're not already the worst team of the year?

Boone Logan is a good boy. So is David Robertson. Team A.J.

Exactly...

getting rid of Tyrus automatically makes us better…

I posted this on RealGM and look at what one Lakers fan said

no thanks from the lakers. atlanta squeezes all the value out of it for the lakers.

i think we can just cut out atlanta and just deal with the bobcats for diaw and augustin and (i assume cats want to dump tyrus right?)

TPE for diaw (can a 8.9mil TPE be used to absorb a 9mil contract? its +/- 100k)
blake, mcbob and mavs 1st (and salary filler) for augustin and tyrus

though of course, the lakers would much prefer diop instead of tyrus

I wouldnt mind cutting ATL out

But I dont think it would work because the TPE isn’t big enough

Do you think LA or ATL would really make these moves?

Not sure that they would. For some reason I dont like this for LA. I might be over valuing Gasol and under valuing Aug, Smith and Tyrus. I like this for the Bobcats. If not mistaken this would clear a lot of cap room for the Charlotte also.

Atl fand dont like it

bc Smith is like their CRASH. But it would make them a better team to end up with Gasol and Fisher. Once Horford returns then they may just get over that hump. This trade works out for every party involved. I just dont think LAL is sold on Tyrus. But if you cant perform well under the tutelege of Kobe and Bynum and Barnes and World Peace kicking your ass, then you just stink.

There's no way the Lakers even bite on that.

It’s a nice try, but they are going to get their money’s worth out of Gasol, not Josh freakin Smith.

i like this trade

the only thing is, mcroberts can’t be traded until march 1st, so would these teams want to do this trade by then?

by adamcawa on Jan 25, 2012 11:40 AM EST reply actions

Yes for all teams.

Lakers need to be more athletic and get younger and a better pg. Lakers fans are crazy. They want to trade a very good player for their garbage and their serious. They get an upgrade at pg and sf.
A starting line up of
pg Augustine
sg Bryant
sf Smith
pf Thomas
c Bynum
is crazy maybe they know Kobe might not be able to keep up with them

Atlanta will have one of the best front courts in the league.

Bobcats shed ton of salary and gets a 1st nice.

I'm cool with whatever it takes to make this team better faster.
