Charlotte Bobcats vs. Detroit Pistons preview -- Game 12

Today's Tunes:

"I Won't Be Found" - The Tallest Man On Earth (and also the songs "The Gardner" and "Pistol Dreams")

Game Overview: Well, that was a great way to start the back-to-back-to-back.

Putting it behind us now, the Bobcats take on the Pistons at home tonight. The Pistons are a young squad, with some promising pieces and some bloated contracts tied up in Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva and Tayshaun Prince (for some reason). But Greg Monroe is a developing monster, both in the paint and can stretch it out past the paint, too. Brandon Knight has begun to start, and though not distributing the ball exceptionally well, he can score.

All that said, the Pistons are last in pace (according to basketball-reference) points per game, 28th in rebounds per game and 26th in assists per game.

This game will be a beauty.

Star-divide

Key Matchup: Greg Monroe vs. Byron Mullens - If Monroe backs up last night's 16-rebound performance with something similar, the Bobcats will probably face another rough rebounding deficit, giving up precious opportunities to turn away the opponents on defense.

I'm encouraged, if for no other reason, because Mullens is starting.

Also, Diaw won’t score less than he did last night. Hendo is becoming quite the slasher, and his jumper is falling with more consistency.

LET’S GO CATS!

So who are we gonna get with that #1 pick?

And what year were the Wallace trade picks?

Andre Drummonds fills a huge need

I just don’t get why we drafted Biyombo, with all these bigs coming out in 2012

Per Hoopsworld:

Charlotte Bobcats: Receives Portlands 2013 first-round pick (top-12 protected through 2015) via the Gerald Wallace trade on 2/24/11.

One must also consider, however, the pick that we'll eventually have to give up to Chicago.

I dont know why we did it anyway

We def couldve traded that pick for a BIG man if anything. I’d rather have Anthony Randolph or Al Jefferson than BB…

But if we get the number one pick, I’d trade down. Im sure a team would take Maggette off our hands for the number one pick. And they give us a player of our liking and their lottery pick and the rest of their first rd’rs….

Example: We get #1 and CLE gets #7… We trade the pick for lets say Sessions and their 7th and any other first rd they get….They get the #1 and Maggette.

Judging by NBADRAFTNET…we still have alot of good options like Gilchrist, Beal, both Jones’…We get a PG out of the deal. And try to get their second. So we can get Festus Ezeli. He is everything that we want BB to max out at…. This is just and example. We probably can get higher than the 7th. Feel free to swap out Maggette for Tyrus and Amnesty Maggs…

by focuslja on Jan 13, 2012 2:54 PM EST up reply actions

Why in God's name would we want Ramon Sessions?

Yes, he’s a couple inches taller than Augustin or Walker…but he’s still not a strong enough defender or outside shooter that it would make any sense to play him beside those guys.

Personal attacks are the weapon of the ignorant.

wow. Who wouldve thought Cory Maggette wouldve meant so much (not that i think we wouldve won those games) but he knows enough about basketball to not get caught up in every downward screen the Hawks threw at us. We just dont match up well with them. c’est la vie.

With the 3rd pick i’m really looking at MKG. He just might have ‘it" because i think he’s Diaw without the fork and with the passion. (BOOM!!!)

Bobcats by 5 over the Pistons….dont hold me to that though haha

So who do you guys want with the 1st overall pick? So who do you guys want with the 1st overall pick? So who do you guys want with the 1st overall pick?

Most boards have Andre Drummonds and Anthony Davis at the top. Drummonds fills a bigger need, and we are overloaded at PF. But Davis seems to be the consensus #1… Which would make picking Biyombo pretty meaningless.

Lol. I don't know.

Thought you were being saracastic. If we do take Davis, I think we’re still fine with Bismack as a player off the bench or as a trade piece. I need to see how everyone on our team develops before I’m ready to cast anyone off. Though I think we’ve seen the best Tyrus has to offer.

Last night :(

Sials sounding a lot like LB in his post game last night. Will we win 10 games this year and will Silas be able to deal with the pain that MJ has beat him with ?

Hendo's Dunk made Top Cheers on Sportsnation

Colin Cowherd said if you dont man up Hendo at the top of the key that is on you..that guy is dangerous. If you dont scout the Bobcats before you play them that is a you problem. said this team is loaded…..very thick sarcasm haha

Still cool to see anything Bobcat related as a positive

another loss

The Bobcats will lose again, I’ll will watch the game but if this team don’t do something they are going to lose fans going to the game.

by jayball on Jan 13, 2012 5:21 PM EST reply actions

There aren't a whole lot of fans to lose.

There might not be 2500 people a game who play anything close to full price to watch.
