France Eurobasket livethread, featuring Monsieur Boris Diaw
EDIT: I'm making this the thread for all Eurobasket games. Diaw is the only Bobcats player in Eurobasket, but use it for any game you want.
Not sure why I didn't think of this earlier, but ESPN3 is showing a ton of Eurobasket play today. At the time of this post, it's halftime between France and Latvia. Our own Boris Diaw is the French starting PF. So far, he's played 15:52 in two quarters and has a grand total of four points, one rebound, zero assists and one turnover.
If you want to follow the game and post some comments, have at it! Unfortunately, I have class during the second half and can't watch.

What I've seen so far from Diaw
He’s playing very passive. Hardly looking to score and functioning mainly as a facilitator, he’s been ineffective for the most part. When the ball reaches his hands, zip on to the next teammate.

That's not exactly breaking news, huh? :)

Off topic but
Over the last week or so, the handy C and Z buttons have stopped working for me. I’m having the same issue on 3 different laptops so I’m betting it’s not just me. Anyone else seeing this?

I got it too...and not the first time
Kinda makes checking over those 600+ post blog topics a bit more time consuming…

Weird. It’s been working for me though not straight from loading the page. I usually have to click on the page somewhere and then it works. If it doesn’t work, let me know and I’ll talk to some IT peeps.

Not working for me
The only time it works is if I sit on a thread until someone posts a live comment. Then it starts working.

That was a fix for me, too when I had the issue.

They told me that it’d be better if you sent them an email directly to support@sbnation.com. I suggest anyone else that has problems send them an email too.

I was for about a day.
I think it was when I was using IE, though. Things are fine on Firefox.

Thanks but no thanks. I've seen this movie before.
I’m going to watch three games from this one when he goes off for 20-10-5.
Diaw finished with 14 pts on 7-10 FG
Also, 5 rebounds, one assist, one turnover

How delightfully Diaw-esque.
Efficient mediocrity. Like a shift manager at Chick-Fil-A winning employee of the month.

The stats actually look pretty good. A little over his career avg. If he can keep this up when he comes back, we should have no problem moving him.
Yeah, but the PF doesn't need to do any scoring.
That’s what the SG is for!

the only good i can
See from this lockout (which will be over soon) is the fact that you can see what some of the “under the radar” NBA players are doing overseas in organized play. Players like Kristic Kaman, Nocioni (who we should trade Tyris for) to name a few. Our scouts should not only be giving them a serious look but…..there are some players playing alongside these guys putting up some very impressive numbers. I have found myself checking scores and stats and some of these guys might can make some noise (maybe not as much as they are overseas) but if you judge based on HOW they produce in addition to physical attributes, I’m sure we could see an influx of overseas talent.
Nocioni for Tyrus. …That’s it, I’m calling Stern and getting the Bobcats contracted.

Tyrus is like 4 more years left on his contract. Nocioni has 1 or 2. To save 14+mil, yep I would in a heartbeat. Plus Nocioni is easier to trade than Thomas bc of his smaller term contract. And we need a backup 3 anyhow…tyrus is dead potential. He’s been in the league like 4 or 5 yrs and only has shown “flashes” of being a decent ROLE PLAYER. Might as well try to cut ties and get what we can back. Im just being realistic for what we can get for Tyrus. I mean is he really that good?
Dude, I usually agree with some of the things you say…but NOCIONI. You would give up a 24 year old with potential for a washed up 31 year old who saw hardly any PT. That’s just stupid.
"With the third pick of the 2006 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Bobcats select, Adam Morrison, Gonzaga."
Nocioni's a fine role player.
Definitely on the downside of his career, but I think equally capable of producing like Thomas in equal situations. There is, though, that theoretical upside with Thomas.

lol...nobody "usually agrees" with me
But I don’t think ppl see the harm in Tyrus “flopping” as much as I do. Its way worse than Diop. We should get him outta here NOW. Lets say Biyombo flourishes during his time at PF. Do we disturb that by placing him at center? I wouldn’t. Tyrus can help alot of teams. Us, not so much. Plus any relief we can take is good at this point and time. I say move him. Risk don’t go hand in hand with rebuilding. And Tyrus is a risk in himself. Deadline, trade him. Maybe we can get a late first or two seconds. That’s good enough. Cap relief starts with TRADABLE PLAYERS with big contracts. Moving Diop and Carroll are unrealistic hopes. Nearly impossible. Moving Tyrus will be detrimental to the next 4yrs. We don’t care abt winning thus season. Let him go.
"Worse than Diop?"
How do you figure? At his worst, Thomas is a serviceable rotation player. Diop is often painful to watch on the floor.

I would rather
pay 6mil for the next two years for an eyesore than pay almost 8mil for the next 4yrs for a “solid rotation player” aka jobber
Not me
They make roughly the same over the next 2 seasons and Tyrus is far more valuable than Diop. Plus Tyrus does have some trade value if we change our mind or want to deal him later on.

Maybe not a lotto pick but a pick 18-26th isn’t a farcry. Diaw can provide the bench spark for numerous young playoff teams and aging contenders. The Spurs/Celtics. I wouldn’t mind taking back an expiring contract like McDyess, if that means we add another pick in the draft. I mean Augustin can get us one from the Lakers with ease. It may not be top ten but who cares. If we can get two lates to go along with our lotto, then I’m happy
This would be the 1 in 3 game where he's good.
When he can string 3 in a row like this together…I’ll still be skeptical

And rotoworld used the phrase "took the game over late" in association with him!
Then again, who is good on Italy’s team?
