Charlotte Bobcats vs. New York Knicks game preview -- Game 72

Game Overview: Dear back-to-backs, I hate you. OK, I had to get that out of my system.
Let's start with the Knicks first. They're in a complete free-fall. For some reason, people are surprised that they're not world-beaters. I don't understand that. They traded just about all of their depth for Carmelo. And considering they play next to no defense, to win consistently, they need Chauncey Billups, Melo and Amar'e Stoudemire to be on their game every night. But that's usually just not going to happen. And when that doesn't happen, the Knicks need their depth to step up - except they don't really have any.Toney Douglas is playing better, but still has concerns with decision making. Landry Fields is a versatile starting shooting guard, though he won't score much. But he defends, rebounds and shoots a good percentage.
The Bobcats are once again probably going to be with out Jack and Tyrus (though I haven't heard anything definite) but as last night showed, the Bobcats can still win if they put in a full effort. They can't expect to give anything less and win. As you can probably tell by now, I'm not the best at predictions, but I see McGuire starting on Carmelo for Dom's defense advantages over Cunningham. Livingston and White will both need to have good nights offensively and White will probably guard Stoudemire for much of the night. I think Kwame also will have a decent night, matched up against Ronny Turiaf.
Key Matchup: Boris Diaw vs Amar'e Stoudemire - The Bobcats need Boris to be aggressive on offense, posting up and spreading the Knicks' defense with his range. Diaw has to step up his pick 'n roll defense and keep up his good isolation and post defense.
Side Note: I have a bit of trouble believing Derrick Brown can't get playing time in New York. I mean, he actually plays decent defense and he's not awful on offense.

One of my opinions from last night's upset is
that we won because we didn’t play any wounded warriors, as opposed to the notion that we won in spite of Jack & Tyrus sitting out. I thought that was a major factor. I hope Captain Jack realizes that, as much as a gamer he is, the team is better off when all players in the rotation can go at 100%.
Speaking of wounded entities, the Knicks are desperately trying to hold on to the playoff positioning that their pre-trade roster earned. Most nights when I see their box score, it’s always the same: Stoudemire & Melo put up big numbers, and maybe a third player makes some noise, but no one else is able to provide enough contributions to get them over the hump. Let’s not be the team that the Knicks “figure it out” against, ’K? Thanks.
Cats' Magic number: 10

If we stay focused
We can win this one. They’ve fared slightly better than we have, but the Knicks have spiraled downward after the trade as well. We need to build on yesterday’s momentum.
I say we Leave Dom in the Knicks locker room
and then take Brown back.
Dantoni wouldn’t notice and David Stern has no clue who either one is.

+100
He is really good. I would prefer Derrick Williams, Alec Burks, and Keith Benson with our three picks though

Most of the mock drafts I have looked at have him anywhere from 1 to 5...
but there isn’t even a conensus on what position he would play.
Example is ESPN has him as a SF, nbadraft.net has him as a combo SF/PF, and realgm has him as a PF.
I like this from realgm
Looking at the potential player pool for the 2011 NBA Draft, I find it intriguingly similar to 2006. That class was extremely difficult to project because there was no consensus hierarchy even minutes before the draft started.
Brandon Roy dropped to sixth overall despite some very serious consideration far earlier and Rudy Gay, a projected top-two when his sophomore season began, fell to eighth overall. Rajon Rondo and Marcus Williams fell into the twenties, one for good reason and the other for Tubby Smith reasons.
I don’t expect a hierarchy to crystallize with this class either, partially because of how the caliber of talent is fairly level, but also because two of its projected top-five players, Kyrie Irving and Enes Kanter, either sat out their entire freshman season or nearly their entire freshman season. There isn’t an automatic franchise player this year, but there will be more really good role players and ten-year starters than it might seem initially.
You never know but he might drop to us …. maybe.
