Bobcats, playoff hopes crumble in loss to Pacers 111-88

Pacers vs Bobcats boxscore

Indy Cornrows

What started as a promising game for the Bobcats in what was probably their most important game on the season, quickly disintegrated in the third quarter.

What resulted was a 23-point loss to Indiana, who gains another game on the Bobcats. And because the Bobcats can't tie the Pacers and get the 8 seed, the Bobcats are down four games. In effect, Charlotte's playoff chances are dead. Statistically they're not, but let's not be foolish - that's a wrap for the Bobcats and the playoffs.

Star-divide

1st quarter: Despite being reported as 'doubtful' before the game, Stephen Jackson made the start and was red-hot in the first period, with 9 points on 4-5 shooting. Obviously playing through pain, it was both tough and good to see him try to grit it out and play well. The effort was strong and the Bobcats defended well against the Pacers outside shooters. However, Indiana's big men were getting going despite a five-point deficit at the close of the quarter.

2nd quarter: But then the Bobcats began to show cracks. Stephen Jackson was subbed out and Charlotte's offense stalled. Outside of Shaun Livingston, the bench wasn't getting much offensive production at all. After the Bobcats built up a 12-point lead, Indiana began to creep back into game as Charlotte abandoned all offense in the paint for midrange jump shot after midrange jump shot. The shot-selection was disappointing, to say the least. And with a couple minutes left in the first half, the Pacers took the lead and didn't look back. Danny Granger began to exploit Stephen Jackson's lack of mobility and scored in bunches. Thanks to some strong post offense by Kwame Brown (weird, I know), the Bobcats were able to keep close and ended the half down by one.

3rd and 4th quarter: I'm going to bunch these two together as they were nearly inseparable to my eyes. The Pacers outscored the Bobcats 54-35 in the second half. The Pacers frontcourt that I warned about was a force in the paint that the Bobcats simply couldn't defend. Tyler Hansbrough ended the night with 24 points on 10 FGA and Roy Hibbert had 13 points (5-7 FG), 14 rebounds and 2 blocks. Charlotte had no answer. Stephen Jackson left the game and didn't return and Tyrus Thomas bruised his ribs after a collision and hard fall onto the hardwood. And only Kwame showed much heart, diving for every loose ball. Henderson found a couple shots here and there but was ultimately not very effective on offense, struggling to drive into the lane. Ditto for Augustin who shot better. And Diaw? How do you start in the NBA and not take a single shot all game? I'm pleased that he got 7 assists. That's terrific. But we needed him to score as well. Hansbrough is no defensive stalwart. Diaw should have attacked him in the post or at least tried to stretch the defense with his range. And the defense wasn't any better with Granger continuing to score. The Cats were slow on rotation and Indiana capitalized with 6-14 shooting from behind the arc.

I would like to single out Shaun Livingston and give some props to him. He was one of the few Bobcats who was effective against the Pacers, with 6-9 shooting from the field and 4 assists, including a neat spinning dish to a cutting Dante Cunningham.

GRADES AND OBSERVATIONS

Went to the game, building was half empty on an important night with no sports competition.
KWAME= B+ Good effort
DIAW=F More and more it seems he dislikes playing for Silas and will opt out. look for him to be an impact player off the bench next year for a top team in the west.
JACK =INC Gotta give the guy props for playing hurt but he should just head to Texas and rest.
HENDO=C- Was hoping for a big effort but he got outplayed by Granger. Psycho T’s line blew Hendo away :(.
DJ= B Really needed a big game from him but he missed key shots(5 for 13)

The absence of Oakley hurt our defense and saw Silas getting no respect from Kwame and Tyrus during timeouts and on the floor. By the way, Tyrus should start taking some of Jack’s medicine as he is mentally unstable.

I gotta say...I agree with the grades 100%

I really wish Jack did not play at all tonight. 11 points was not worth testing his hamstring, nor was it worth basically giving Indiana a hockey power play whenever they had the ball. I really think the coaching staff used poor judgement there. I mentioned it in the game thread, but if we couldn’t beat Indiana without Jack, then the strong run we needed to make during these final dozen games was probably out of our reach, anyway. It’s far past time to shut him down, and let him heal properly.

I don’t care if Diaw led all players with 7 assists. He did not attempt a SINGLE shot…just reprehensible. Somebody get this man a spot on the bench for the next game’s opening tip-off, STAT.

Kwame had a strong, spirited game. I didn’t know he could get up and swat a shot like that so quickly. That was encouraging.

Hendo’s normally stout defense was exposed in a major way by Granger. As long as Hendo can look his assignment straight in eyes, he’s fine. Against a taller player with a shot as consistent as Granger’s, though, it’s a different story altogether.

It was good to see Livingston’s shot falling again.

Thomas was “meh.” Oakley needs to start texting him some post moves or something. He settles for a jump shot way too easily sometimes.

From here on out, I just hope every last player performs as if their jobs depend on it.

Tyrus strikes Again

idk wut happened with the attitudes but Tyrus has no reason to be upset with anyone. he has been subpar at best during his tenure with the Bobcats. SN: Kwame again shows that he is capable of starting for us and we should really look into keeping him. Hibbert is a premier center and Kwame went toe to toe with him putting up the kind of numbers that a center should

8th seed

Now that all that talk is over, we need to play the young guys big minutes. If they get blown out by every team on the rest of the schedule, you know what you have for next season. We need a real PF who can score in the paint, rebound and play defense. As hard as that sounds, it should be easier than a center that can do the same. We will not get that player in the draft based on our position, he has to be a FA. If Boris opt’s out it will be a blessing in disguise, We would not get much for him in a trade unless it’s the perfect situation and I don’t know what that is.

Diaw disappointed

i guess Silas’ style of play contradicts what Diaw can do. Maybe its time to cut our losses. but i do agree that the position has to be filled by a established player (FA)…maybe a trade for Blatche or Deandre is in order…

who could you see taking on that role at starting PF? its obvious that Diaw is on the outs (even if the season was dead anyways) after this performance. Tyrus (ive heard) has attitude issues (probably mad bc Silas actually made him play for once) so its clear that if he does stick around, he wont have a major role unless OAKLEY can really turn things around. and Im not exactly cosigning Blatche but i think the hard-nosed Center-like PF is the way to go for this team.

On a positive note

If the clippers come home stronger than we do, we could be the 8th pick in the lottery, and looking at New Orleans run home, they are a realistic chance to drop out of the playoffs. Something like picks 8 & 14 is something pretty good to work with.

by Cecil89 on Mar 23, 2011 11:20 PM EDT reply actions

We could move to 7th

I feel pretty certain Milwaukee and the Clippers will pass us, maybe even Detroit. Especially after Silas used the phrase “shutting people down” after last night’s game. I’d say all hopes of playoffs were totally annihilated in this game.

I don’t see the Hornets missing the playoffs though. The teams on the outside (Utah, Houston, Phoenix) are too big of a flaming mess to make up 4 games on them. Realistically looking at 8 and 20 probably.

Phoenix looks good again with Nash's return.

But they would need almost as miraculous of a closing streak as us (a 10-2 finish required for them) to sneak in.

Memphis hangs on

i think Memphis holds on to the last spot but if they are overtaken, i would say that Houston is the only team that have a chance of knocking them off. Suns just lost two straight (altho impressive) games and i cant see them goin on a major run to close out the season

What Charlotte needs is a scorer. Someone who could come off the bench and put up big numbers. J.R. Smith, Jamal Crawford and Wilson Chandler are all great options.

by mangoes52 on Mar 23, 2011 11:20 PM EDT reply actions

scorers

We need them, but if we can’t score inside to draw double teams and suck the defense in they too will struggle from the field. We have to have at least one guy who’s a feared scorer in the paint.

i know u have faith in HENDO but...

please with the “com off the bench talk”…all those guys are ready to start NOW. they are young and i dont see y they would sign to a team that makes them sit behind someone they are clearly better than

by focuslja on Mar 23, 2011 11:36 PM EDT up reply actions

this what i've been saying

i think all of those guys would start over Hendo. Chandler is playing like he knows that his time to shine is coming. Marcus Thornton is another who see the light at the end of the tunnel. I also think that Nick Young is lookin to take his talents elsewhere and we are just the team that can give him a spot. Either of those 5 guys paired with JAX/ Augustine and Kwame and a PF not named Diaw/Thomas would be in the running for a middle spot in next yrs eastern conferenc

Then you have a bench with Livingston-Hendo-White-(and whoever we deem to the other positions) would be just what the doctor ordered. Young Team…established players…

by focuslja on Mar 23, 2011 11:48 PM EDT up reply actions

J.R. Smith

would be great for this team he would put butts in the seats for MJ, He’s exciting and can score. He too is a headcase much like Tyrus and Jack. He would also need somebody on the inside to be great, in Denver he has Nene.

dont count out Kwame

JR is the “big name” (almost) that benefits us both Financially and productive-wise. I think Thornton or Young would be the better choice and less expensive. Kwame proved that he was a force and shouldnt be taken lightly. He didnt get those numbers tonite in the “garbage minutes”…he got those numbers when it looked like we actually had a chance of winning. He has definately improved and shouldnt be judged by his first couple of yrs in the league

by focuslja on Mar 24, 2011 12:11 AM EDT up reply actions

Bottom line

Kwame is not a starter in this league. If one game makes you think otherwise, then you’re foolish(using an example…not calling you specifically foolish). He would be a pretty good backup for Charlotte.

by mangoes52 on Mar 24, 2011 1:00 AM EDT up reply actions

i think his numbers are impressive

i just did the math (this is what i do)…since silas DEC 23 Kwame has avg 8.2pts and coincidently 8.2rebs. I think he has siezed the opportunity and eventually those numbers will turn into a consistent double double…which means he is a starter caliber player.

and its amazing that the ppl who down Kwame (even with the proof of above avg numbers) praise Tyrus Thomas (who was injured again tonite..go figure)

by focuslja on Mar 24, 2011 1:49 AM EDT up reply actions

nope...

thats apart of his game that he has to work on. but i think ppl are giving him unfair grief about that aspect of his game. its sad that we have to depend on Brown to get a double double for us to have a chance. but its safe to say its more of an added bonus that he is playing so well regardless of that “dropped ball” stuff. its unfair to him when we got other players not living up to the hype and we still treat them as the second coming and the future (Hendo/Tyrus)…but noone talks about Hendo’s inability to shoot from anywhere outside the paint consistently (SG) or Tyrus’ inabilty to heal b4 getting another injury…

Very happy with Kwame from my point of view

Are there better options out there → yes.
Are we going to be able to get them → probably no.

I think he has done a great job for us. He didn’t have to come here to play, he didn’t complain about his minutes when Silas came in and DNP’ed him and he works his ass off for the team.
He has limitations offensively but he he also fairly dependable in what he does. You rarely see him trying to play outside of his strengths.

I hope we resign him next year and I hope he wants to come back. After this year we may have some competition for his services. I think that this year he has again proved he can play a consistent game and he can bring size and physicallity. Teams lacking this may come looking for a guy to play 20 minutes or so each night.

by Warmec on Mar 24, 2011 6:34 AM EDT up reply actions

He gets no unfair grief

He fumbles the ball and causes turnovers, I watch all the players out there they are afraid to pass inside to him you can tell. He deserves all his greif leasrn to catch the ball every game not just this game.

by TS BOBCAT on Mar 24, 2011 7:04 AM EDT up reply actions

I would freakin' jump for joy if we get J.R.

Crawford will probably get resigned anyway, but i don’t think J.R. is a worthy starter. All he can do is score(great 6th man). Can’t play D, and he’s not a very good FT shooter. If he splits time with Hendo, he could consistently hit clutch shots and provide a threat from behind the arc.

by mangoes52 on Mar 23, 2011 11:50 PM EDT reply actions

Nick Young, Thaddeus Young and Thornton are on my radar as of late. They can do all the little things and they are natural scorers waiting for the right situation…but wut Cats fans must realize is (altho we are die hard Cats fans) those guys would spare a couple mil if they go somewhere where they are guaranteed to start or a contender. I highly doubt anybody is coming to CLT to sit behind a inconsistent Gerald Henderson

by focuslja on Mar 24, 2011 12:14 AM EDT up reply actions

Young and Thornton will most likely get resigned by the Wiz and Kings

JR also isn’t a starting caliber SG. All he is, is a guy who can electrify the offense.(yes please!) Going to a contender really doesn’t matter for every player. If the money is right, they’re going.

by mangoes52 on Mar 24, 2011 1:03 AM EDT up reply actions

to say JR should be on the bench is ridiculous

did you see his stellar play tonite? he was a beast. he is definately ready for the big time. Denver will NOT have enough money to resign SMITH, AFFLALO & CHANDLER along with NENE this offseason. Unless they take paycuts to continue to play together (which wouldnt be a bad idea) i think at least ONE of them leaves…I wouldnt be surprised if 2 of them go (being that they play the same primary position) Plus they are all having career years.

You are probably right about Young. Jordan Crawford is playing great basketball in Young’s absence (22pts tonite)…Maybe Young might want to try a change of scenery. Maybe not

by focuslja on Mar 24, 2011 1:54 AM EDT up reply actions

I'm the eternal optimist

I think the Bobcats will be just fine next year. After we went 10 games under .500 with LB, the fact that we were still able to talk about making the playoffs was amazing. We may not get a superstar from the draft, but there are still some quality players that we have a chance at like Harrison Barnes or Jan Vesely, plus we could go for JR Smith or Nick Young in FA. Plus the young players getting experience this year, Jax and Tyrus getting healthy, and guys like DJ, Dante, DJ2, Tyrus, and Hendo being able to go into training camp with Silas and Oakley should help a lot.

by Jordan's10YearPlan on Mar 24, 2011 12:04 AM EDT reply actions

i agree except one thing...

Dante will be sought after this offseason. I seriously doubt (with the turmoil and uncertainty of the team) that he decides to come back to CLT. I also think we should sit this draft out and try to pry away a player with our pick. they teams in the playoffs this season are only going to get better (IND/PHI) are looking to get already established pieces this offseason which will again place us out of the playoffs next season with all that “raw” aka not ready talent from the draft

TYRUS bruises his Ribs huh

He should trade in all that “potential” for a Laura Croft MediPack and that “upside” for a few Sgt Snake Rations…Tyrus Thomas = Darius Miles = Stromile Swift. Get Him Outta Here please Jordan

by focuslja on Mar 24, 2011 12:22 AM EDT reply actions

bc as I said earlier, ppl like Kwame Brown play the best ball of their careers. Boris Diaw (despite his lack of effort tonite: i’ll talk about that later) has barely missed a game since being on the team, but Tyrus gets so much praise. and our fans are blindly placing him as our future. I’d rather have Omir Asik than Tyrus Thomas. I see it as clear as day that we are going to be stuck with a 45mil dollar man that probably (even healthy) wont be able to give us 8pts 8rebs. ppl talk about not getting Blatche bc of his “attitude”…but forget Tyrus has a serious attitude also (reincarnation of Stromile Swift: look tha same, LSU, same pos. always hurt)…i dont see what all the other ppl see when it come to “the potential” of Tyrus Thomas

by focuslja on Mar 24, 2011 2:06 AM EDT up reply actions

to do what?

the only thing i like about LB is that he knows established players are better than drafted player. the problem with that is that he only seems to go for the big names/contracts. I wish we had Denver/San Antonio scouts. They pick up the most unknown/underused player in FA and in the draft and turn them into dangerous players (Neal, Hill, Parker, Ginobili, Blair, Bonner, McDyess, JAX…ect)

but I would hardly say that his body failed him and we need to get rid of him.

He has played 72, 74, 79, 54 and 40 games in his 5 year career. Was out with the torn miniscus this year for 8 weeks, and he was out with a broken forearm in 2009 for 6 week.

Take out those injuries and he has played a pretty good number of games methinks.

End of Season Random Rant

Teams like the Pacers and Sixer are where the Bobcats are trying to get to…I have to learn to be patient.

DJ Augustine – Like him but he has to learn how to set up other players to score…NOW!

I’m fine with Hendo…if he would have got PT last year, he would be better than he is now!

If the Bobcats don’t bring in other Vets next year, trade Jax and the MF’ing Starting PF that won’t take ONE shot during the most important game of the season!!

Silas – Not sure if he’s going tobe, or should be coaching next year. Great motivator and players coach, but it doesn’t seem like he’s Xs and Os!

Tyrus doesn’t need to start the crap he did at CHI. If he wants to start, he shouldn’t clang open shots off the side of the rim in the most important game of the year!!

Kwame – WHY CAN"T YOU CATCH A PASS AND DUNK?? If you’re on the roster next year, please volunteer to come off the bench! WHY?

Bobcats – Take one of these 1st round picks and draft a Center along the caliber of Hibert, Lopez, Asik, even Mcghee!!

Ok, at this point, the only way I’ll see the Bobcats in the Play Offs is if I take them on NBA 2K. I’ve accepted that they are rebuilding and if there’s ever going to be a true Star, All-Star, or Superstar on the Bobcats, they’re coming from the Draft.

last nite was a total tank deception

JAX/Tyrus started/played (only bc we didnt want to APPEAR to be tanking at home)

Kwame knowing that every gm & moment of his career (esp nearing offseasons) should be spent showing how much better he is getting. Hence the great game. Expect him to have plenty more gms the rest of the season comparable to this one (if he isnt rested)

Augustine scored enuff points to show everybody he is THE PG on the team. (He did this purposely esp around the end of the third & beginning of the 4th)

Livingston pretty much in the same predicament as Kwame, played well to prove a point. Only Augustine made sure he didnt overshadow him too much (DJ knows Livingston is more athletic, a better inside scorer, a better distributor, and a better defender. Livingston knows too)

Hendo/White ect…Humble young guys who went out there and did what they were told (make it look like a game)

Diaw has never been on a squad that had to actually tank a season. He knows that chances are he’ll be here. and maybe he doesnt wanna be. y fake a tank. he knew. the rest of the team knew. he just didnt mind letting everyone else kno

by focuslja on Mar 24, 2011 12:52 PM EDT up reply actions

conspiracy theory's

If management is stupid enough to ask a whole team to tank, they are worse than we think. Someone would talk sooner or later even if it’s to their own detriment. Our team is awful right now and in need of important adjustments. This is not the first time Boris refused to shoot, He thinks he’s the ultimate point guard. Too bad he is fat and slow he can never guard even the worst PG in the league.

throwing games

with the unwritten code is crazy. I never played pro ball, but I played high school and college. I only know how to play one way and that is to give my best every time I step on the court. Were losing games because were a bad team right now, Jack is hurt and Tyrus is not 100% and rusty from six weeks of down time. He is not the type of PF that I would want on my team, his attempts comes too far from the basket. He is a tweener bet 3,4,5 depending on the match up that is so crazy. Boris our other PF is even worse he’s a 1,2,3,4,5 depending on the match up. He’s like that crazy woman Sybil with multiple personalities, that’s probably why he eats too much and rides a segway lol. In all seriousness were not that good, going out there just to lose on a unwritten code is not in my DNA. Since I’ve seen every home game from about six rows back in the lower bowl, the majority of the team tries hard every game. No one can perform to perfection every game. We are not that good!

we really arent...

im getting to the point (mostly bc of everyone else’s draft "faith) that we should just blow the whole team up and start from jump street. I only see 4 players to keep around but definately NOT to build around. Livingston can once again be a starter in this league in a lil while. Augustin isnt the ideal PG but he is definately a scorer and could be an ice cold shooter (but he cant be the primary or secondary scorer. 3rd or 4th option would make him dangerous). Hendo is good. But he’s not a starter. He is a solid roleplayer and could fit into any team/s system but not as a starter. His position calls for a lil more scoring and attention. He isnt able to do any of that. But off the bench (for the next couple seasons) would prove well for us if we can get a true scorer at SG. Kwame Brown is another. Maybe he doesnt have the best hands but he has outstanding effort and his number are only going to get better (esp since his coach was a former big man and Charles Oakley was one of the best big men to play the game)

by focuslja on Mar 25, 2011 1:57 PM EDT up reply actions

If I were running the show

NO ONE on this team would be untouchable. We have some young guys with potential but all of them have shown enough flaws to make you question whether they will ever be top tier at their position. We need to find the best talent available (via draft, trade, or free agency) and not give one crap about what position they play. If you’re building to be a contender, then start from the ground and move up. Personally, I’m not sure our future championship team (allow me to dream for a minute) would include a starter that is already on our roster today. DJ: I don’t think so. Hendo: maybe. Tyrus: Doubtful. Let’s see how it plays out but I don’t think anyone is safe at this point.

That may be true in a few yrs but unfortunately for them is WE ARE REBUILDING now. So the next few games better b impressive bc we are in for a very exciting off-season

If we can't win building around Jack and Wallace, we won't have much luck building around Hendo and Tyrus

That’s a recipe for drafting early every year. They are complimentary players. We have to find the pieces to build around. I pray to the Lord above that we don’t plan on building around anyone on this current roster or we’ll be going through this again in 3 or 4 years. If we’re going to click the restart button, then let’s only do it once.

My heart pumps no Kool-Aid

Look Henderson is atleast the future

Your right Henderosn might just be a complimentery player but he will be starter on a championship caliber team plus who knows he could represent the east in the all star game in 2 years we do not know what he will become but we know he will turn out good. I think Henderson is untouchable unless something big is offered to us Tyrus I would only say is safe because of his contract and his talent but in all honesty arguing about who is the future is getting annoying its the same argument everyday Im so ready for the off season and getting this roster blown up even though I dont want to enter super rebuilding we know MJ is going to do it and he will lose even more money because noone will come watch them because Charlotte needs to get there head out of there butt and realize what they have what so many cities kill for. We will probably be a very young team next year and from what iv noticed that doesnt always equal wins unless your lucky one thing is for sure we have to find a way into the first round next year to continue rebuilding.

Henderson an AS starter in 2 years? Really?

You really think anyone outside of his family and Bobcats fans would even consider voting for him ahead of Dwyane Wade? And can you name a single AS starter who wasn’t already a star by the time he was 23? I’d let him actually get his name on the ballot before talking about how well he’ll do in the voting.

Here’s the list of AS starting guards over the last 10 years – Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, Gilbert Arenas, Tracy McGrady, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James (listed as a guard his first two years). None of those players look like comps for Hendo.

thnks buddy

this has been what i’ve been saying from day 1. alot of Cats fans dont realize that a starting SG should be the 1st/ 2nd scoring option on the team. Hendo isnt a scorer. He can get points off of effort but the most effective SGs have a skill to score. Not only the ability to score but to also draw at least a little bit of attention from the defenders on the other team. I doubt a coach loses sleep the night before a Cats game bc HENDO might explode for 30pts. He will be big/exciting for us off the bench. Him and Livingston would be dynamic. In the offseason, i see us going for one of the many SGs in FA. There are plenty. There is no excuse to not end up with one.

You need to stop acting like people on this site are stupid

You keep saying fans on this site need to realize blah blah blah, we realize what your saying people arent going to agree with you some will and it doesnt help to repeat the same thing on every post like you are.I know it kills you but Gerald will be the starting SG for years to come I know you just dont like him but he is in the future plans for us trust me, im sure we will bring in a SG in the off season but to either be the back up or take the reigns for a year or 2 until he is ready.

didnt say u guys were stupid

sorry if u feel that way. i am not an expert but i watch basketball and try to analyze what i see from every angle. i also didnt say i didnt want him to be apart of our future but he isnt starter material. i know u guys are bobcats loyalist and he is easy to like but he just isnt.

by focuslja on Mar 25, 2011 9:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Hell no he aint yet

You are “analyzing” him before we have even seen his full potential so im sorry your wrong for right now he may become nothing more then a bench player. But guess what, you dont know that yet because he is still developing. i know you think im a dumb loyalst but guess what i dont give na rats but if he is starting but its called I know talent when I see it im sorry you just give up easy. Im sorry Im not usually this rude but you keep saying the same thing on every dang post give it a rest everyone knows your opinion trust me you have made your point you dont think Henderson and Tyrus are going to ever be starters. Just stop bringign it up on every post unless someone else is talking about it you need to realize there are other things to talk about. i did the same thing one time and someone finally did this to me.

I mean no disrespect to you in the post

But everyone on this site analyzes from every angle we are not just casual fans if Gerald truly had nothing but 6th man talent we would agree with you I promise, and im not saying your wrong your just not right yet either it is too soon and im sure you will realize that you cannot judge a player this early, he will not be a superstar but his offensive game will develop. I mean these post in no way to stop you from giving your opinion because that is what these blogs are for ypu just cant shove them down peoples throats is all. We are not all dumb loyalist we are fans like you that watch players games see what they are good at and see how much of a ceiling they have and you have put Geralds too low. Witht he Tyrus debate you have an argument but your not being fair with Gerald.

i understand ur disposition

i was just replying to ClipCats post. Most of the subjects recently are about pretty much the same thing. which is how to move forward. i dont think u are a stupid loyalist at all. i am probably the dumbest loyalist there is. bc nothing i have ever predicted as a help to the Bobcats (even if there were rumors of it happening) almost never happens. But when we talk about getting better and the moves in the offseason, its only natural to mention the starters or the major parts of the team. i cant apologize if i dont change my opinion on a regular basis but this is how i feel as far as solutions are concerned. i dont wish anyone to feel the same way as i do. these are all opinions. and judging by Bobcats history none of the smart things mentioned (even things i DONT agree with) will happen. im sure we will all feel the same way about the end results. bc we are fans of the cats.

Did I say starter? no so chill

You do not know what he will become you are no expert or coach. He will at the least become a 16 ppg defensive minded player.

small market can do well

just need to make the right moves management wise and have some luck. san antonio has done well as a small market. lucky enough to get tim duncan the even more lucky that he was good and did not get hurt like yao ming.

by whirob on Mar 24, 2011 12:15 PM EDT reply actions

Absolutely a small market can do well

But it has to be through the draft and trades. And really, the draft. Because rookie-scale contracts are dirt cheap.

by drapht00 on Mar 24, 2011 1:11 PM EDT up reply actions

The draft

There are some ballers in this draft don’t sleep on it. We can pick up a young PF and a scorer of a SG with our two picks. It will be one of the most under rated drafts in years. No Blake Griffins, but plenty of Lamarcus Aldridge’s and guards that can score. We don’t need anymore defense first guys on this team who can’t shoot to save their lives. If a young prospect needs to learn a new facet it’s a shorter learning curve for defense than offense.

exactly...

we have never had a team that had the ability to score at will. maybe that should be the direction we are headed. Diaw is used to playing on that type of team. Augustin/Livingston is perfect for that type of team. The others are defense first.
