Around SBN: Where Do The Lakers Go From Here?

The Sports Guy continues his love fest of the Charlotte Bobcats, with such endearing quotes as the following:

Contract these guys. Move them to Vancouver. Move them to Seattle. Do something. The only way this situation could get worse is if Stephen Jackson decides to run into the stands and start inexplicably punching people.

I'm sure he'd love any kind remarks you may have after reading him dump endless praise on our beloved franchise yet again. Stay classy, Mr. Simmons.

HOPE I GET A RESPONSE! I will debate this fool online if he wants

First off let me say as a fan of the Bobcats, I hope YOUR favorite sports team gets contracted or moved. Secondly, watch some Bobcats games before you always comment blindly on team.

While we did trade the face of our franchise, we have Gerald Henderson whom given playing time under Silas has really began to shine. Gerald Wallace game struggled to adapt to Silas system and he hasn’t been nearly the same player he was last year.

Another notable point is the Bobcats play in Time Warner Cable Arena. The reason we have the smallest TV buy is simply because there is lots of cable competition in the Carolinas. They simply cannot come to terms for broadcasting the games. Once this is resolved the fans will come. Charlotte fans will come and stay once we have a team that their ceiling exceeds a first-round exit in the playoffs.

What did you want us to do compete for the 7th or 8th seed every year to get swept? Know your subject before you speak on it!

Nice comments...this is what I sent to him:

Mr. Simmons,

You’ve made a comment about contracting the Bobcats on more than one occasion. What exactly is your problem with Charlotte? They are currently 19th in league attendance (according to home arena capacity, not the actual attendance count).

What about shutting down one of the teams below us? How about the Hawks? They’ve been to the postseason for the past three years, and have improved their record every season since ‘04, but they still can’t quite draw like the Bobcats do.

This is a business, yes? So we start at the bottom and work our way up. First up is the 76ers. How about you leave Charlotte alone until the other 10 teams looking up at us boost their ticket sales, huh?

If we make the playoffs for the second year in a row, would it kill you to throw us a bone without a backhanded compliment? And I fully expect your article gushing over the emergence of Gerald Henderson before the start of the playoff season.

Who knows if he’ll even read it, but it felt good to vent.

I mean the guy obviously doesnt like the city

He is always attacking are city I dont know if there is just something he didnt like about it if he came here or he thinks we dont deserve a NBA team But unless he is like this to every small market team he has a personal beef with us. Also honestly who cares fans in the NBA root for us being underdogs and eveywhere in N.C. people root for us I have friends who like the Bobcats they just arent there favorite team, mainly because they are LA. N.Y. and M.I.A lovers. The point im trying to make is nobody has this much hate for us so he has something personal and i really think it has to do with the city just the way he talks it sounds like his remarks are more towards Charlotte not the team.

Not fair to attack Charlotte

He should be focusing on the cause of this outrage, Michael Jordan.

Well, in essence, he is.

By saying that the Bobcats should be contracted, he’s basically calling Michael Jordan an utter failure as an owner.

I generally like Simmons

but he tries to be a mix of comedian and sports writer and sometimes he gets stuck writing about a team he doesn’t obviously follow.

I will say that I enjoyed the end of his piece where he described how he and his dad felt about the Celtics trading Perkins. I think all of us basically feel the same way about Gerald. We just want to throw up …….. but we’ll eventually move on.

lol...I stopped reading after the Bobcats paragraph

I’ll probably go back and read the rest of it later on. I’m a fan of his, too, but he sure knows how to alienate an entire fanbase sometimes.
