Bobcats get another road win, beat Pistons 97-87
In front of a mostly-empty arena in Auburn Hills, Stephen Jackson took the opportunity to go up against a series of inferior defenders and torched the Detroit Pistons for 39 points, leading the Bobcats to a 97-87 win.
The Pistons started out with gimpy and aging Tracy McGrady trying to guard Jax, then defensively insubstantial Austin Daye, and they didn't ever actually get around to putting Tayshaun Prince, their best defender, on him, even resorting to a zone defense in the fourth quarter, instead. And so Jackson was able to do anything he wanted, his swag swelling with every swish.
Thus ends the Bobcats' longest road trip of the season. They'll play a tougher road stretch at the end of February and into March, and they'll play Miami, Dallas, and Boston when they get back to Charlotte, but you can't ask for much more than going 4-2 in these past six games. It was a major challenge, and the Cats came through with flying colors.

GAME THREAD COMMENT
chris in union county -- Kwame seems very motivated to show Joe Dumars all he needed was coaching.
BAD
-- D.J. Augustin had a tough game. Not only did he shoot only 2-6 from the field for 10 points (that includes a garbage time layup), but he was called for two quick fouls and so was kept out of a big chunk of the first half. And then when he was in, he had all kinds of trouble guarding Ben Gordon, who kept running off multiple screens and shooting over Augustin's outstretched hand. At least he got to the line and made 6-7.
GOOD
-- Jackson scored his 39 points on 26 attempts. Shooting 3-7 from three doesn't hurt, and neither does getting to the line to shoot 8-10. He also had 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
-- Boris Diaw had pretty close to the ultimate Diaw game, with 0 points, 4 rebounds, and 9 assists. Seriously, I think those three numbers directly correspond with his basketball priorities.
-- Kwame Brown got yet another double-double, scoring 14 points on 9 attempts, and pulling down 10 rebounds.

I believe the lack of DJ was to add some rest to him
an improved DJ vs Wade will be awesome!

I know
Wade will be on Jax, but I think of DJ being like Wade in some ways…
DJ should be able to abuse the PG in Miami…

Caros Arroyo
And DJ won’t be able to stop him from hitting his mid range jumpers and occasional three pointers. But yeah DJ should score all over him.
Kwame Brown
is pretty much making our center needs disappear
I remember training camp...and my faith in Kwame
Glad to see it coming true

+1
I thought Kwame would turn into a decent center here, but only under the “teachings” of Larry Brown.

Lol, I think we were all pretty excited about Oakley once his name first came up.
I really thought he would help with Boris and Tyrus, but I’ve seen the most improvement from Brown.

I really like our team right now
The team is getting tired from this road trip and it’s absolutely insane that they only get Thursday off before ANOTHER 3 in 4 days. I really feel like we need to win one of these 3 and any would be sweet in their own way. Never beat the Mavs, Celtics have owned us the past couple years, and any chance to beat LeBron is so sweet. Stupid 76ers just keep winning…
Agreed. 1 out of 3 will be fine

I would happily take that
as long as we are competitive in the other 2 as well. No blow outs please.
Well put
I’d take 1 of 3 as well (unless it’s the first one, then I’ll get greedy :) ), and nice job pointing out that each of them would come with their own special emotional bonus.
referees
Did anyone notice how the referees were calling fouls against the Bobcats but you never see the Pistons have the fouls called against that team? I hope these refs don’t come to Charlotte for the game against Miami?
in all honesty
they let some real obvious fouls by the Bobcats go, so I can live with it
The "typical" Diaw stat line..sad, but LOL at basketball priorities!
Yep, he wishes he was a point guard. I wish we had a true big scoring PF there to help give us a post game to complement Kwame’s production. Imagine a bigger Boris who would actually take shots and score both down low and from outside, and who was a better rebounder but not as good or focused on passing (..“poof” – Troy Murphy)!
Really Frustrated with Gerald!!
Can’t figure out what’s up with this guy! Seems like he’s got the case of the blues or is in just a major funk.
Don’t think you can nail it down to injury, because he doesn’t limp and looks fine. His jumper is wayyyy off. While he might never have been a terrific shooter, but right now he’s shooting some airballs and barely making it to the basket. Also doesn’t drive it as much as he used to.
I can’t figure out whats up with this guy right now, but it’s very irritating, especially with the talent and potential that he has!!
he doesn't look fine though
he has zero explosiveness going forward or latererally, although his vertical looks ok to me, but i’ve seen such a small sample size lately it’s hard to tell
his quickness doesn’t seem to be effective as evidenced by the tight d he’s played the last two games… but yeah he can’t drive at all
Here's some suggestions on what may be wrong:

Gerald is probably hurting.
The guy has made his living playing reckless & it’s probably catching up to him. Being the warrior & passionate player he is, he’s not going to say that is the problem.
I’m surprised there was no mention of Collins. He looked like a bigger Jameer Nelson out there. I like him better than Livingston & I hope he continues to get PT.
I’m disappointed in UPS. He just doesn’t seem to be finding his niche under Silas. Hopefully he will break out soon. Great road trip Cats!
"You run plays to get open. If you're open, and you don't shoot, what's the point of running the play?" - Coach Paul Silas of the Charlotte Bobcats
need a pickup
The Bobcats need to go out and make some kind of trade that will keep this team going? The team needs someone to either play backup to Boris Diaw are Kwame Brown? if they make that move I think this team will make playoffs are go deep in it?
Those are very interesting questions?
Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure how to answer them?
