Only two starters finished in double digits tonight against Miami: DJ and Jax (the only two players who have done so in every game under the Silas regime).  Two of our regular starters were out: Wallace & Nazr.  That left Boris Babacar Diaw-Riffiod (I love looking up birth names for pieces like this).

Mind you, I missed all but a few minutes of the first half, which by all accounts was our most efficiently played part of the game.  Maybe Diaw blew the doors off with outstanding lockdown defense during the first two quarters that won't show up in any box score; I'll concede that as a possibility.  Nonetheless, I am basically just focusing on the box score as the fuel for my rant here, so bare with me.

As I mentioned before the jump, three starters failed to score double digits: Henderson, Diaw, and Kwame.  Kwame was brought out of Silas storage after Nazr & Diop went down.  Henderson, in only his second start, seemed to come down with a case of "big game jitters."  Diaw, on the other hand, has started for us since he was traded here.

To be fair, I'll acknowledge that Diaw tied for the most assists with five.  Jackson had just as many assists (and had a hot, flaky turnover to go with each of his dimes), and also scored 22 points on a decent shooting night (7-15).

Diaw scored four points.  He took as many shots as Kwame, who still reeked of moth balls.

Matt Carroll scored four points, too.

So did McGuire.

And Livingston.

UPS scored 7 points in almost the same amount of playing time.

In fact, only two players scored less than Diaw: "practice squad" standouts Najera & Collins, who played a combined eight minutes in garbage time.

Jack was Jack.  DJ was swarmed all game long.  Kwame was suddenly our only available "center" who, incidentally, hadn't seen a second of playing team in about a week.  Henderson had some opportunities, but failed to capitalize.  He tried, though.

Diaw was just there.  Three starters in single digits, and guess which one I was the least surprised about?
