Bobcats trounce Grizzlies, 96-82

The Bobcats finished the softest part of their schedule with a flourish tonight, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies, 96-82. Time Warner Cable Arena was mostly empty, due to the snowstorm in Charlotte, but the brave fans who made it to the game all piled into the lower level and saw the Cats' defense dismantle the Grizzlies' attack.

Game thread comment, lowlights, and highlights after the jump.

GAME THREAD COMMENT

Charlotte Bobcat -- The more I watch this team, the more I'm disgusted with Larry Brown.

BAD

-- Everyone came to play, so there aren't really any Bad performances to put down here. Obviously, I'd have preferred that Matt Carroll not turn it over 3 times in only 14 minutes. And I'd have preferred Derrick Brown play more than 0 minutes, but those concerns are far outweighed by the excellence we saw from everyone else.

GOOD

-- D.J. Augustin rocks. Think of all the praise heaped upon Ty Lawson last year, and then realize that D.J.'s in that realm this year, only over the course of starter's minutes, that he was born seven days after Lawson, and we might well be as optimistic about his future as we've been since draft night. Tonight, he had 18 points on 6-12 shooting, with 9 assists.

-- Tyrus Thomas took fewer shots, and was a better player for it, knocking down 2-3 shots from the field, to go with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks, all in only 17 minutes.

-- Shaun Livingston had a great game off the bench, shooting 4-6 for 8 points, getting 3 assists, and bringing everything else you could ask of a point guard in every facet of the game. Depending on how his knee checks out, he's playing like he'll be an NBA starter next season.
