One avenue Denver pursued earlier in the trade discussions was getting Gerald Wallace from Charlotte in the deal, a person involved in the talks told CBSSports.com Monday. But the Bobcats have insisted throughout that they'd only trade Wallace if it meant getting Anthony in the deal, and that's not happening based on Anthony's lack of interest in playing in Charlotte.

If Melo wouldn't want to play here, then whatever.

I’m glad that that “VC” stays out of Charlotte. I’ll take our all around sounder player with a positive image.

I don't understand this part

Son of a....

This system sucks. I hate how it cuts off things you type and I don’t feel like typing it all out again.

Good

Wallace for ‘Melo sucks for us IMO. Crash is the heart of the team and they want to trade him for a guy that’s heart is into playing with his buds in a big city? Would be a big mistake, that I’m scared the FO would go for. Glad he doesn’t want to come here. Thx ’Melo.

GOOD!!!

We don’t want your sorry ass anyway Melo. Well, maybe a little. BUT NOT FOR GERALD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The R.O.F. community would NEVER

agree to trade Hendo unless the package included LeBron, Kobe AND either Dwight Howard or Brook Lopez and someone willing to take Diop back. 2 top 5 picks wouldn’t hurt either.

Glad to hear this idea is officially dead

I’d much rather watch the Bobcats beat Melo and the Nets, and they will. Nets are taking a huge risk if this trade is just part of a plan to land Paul. If the Nets get Melo but miss out on Paul, they’ll be as mediocre as the Knicks.

Denver's loss is our gain

I once thought a straight up Wallace-for-Anthony trade would be OK, but I hold Wallace in a much higher regard lately. I think Melo’s a little to caught up in this “Superteam assembly” to be considered a quality asset that will actually make the overall team better.

My buddy saw CP3 and his posse in Winston Salem the other day...

He have gave him dap, and Chris said, “HEY-OOO!”

My friend yelled back,“Come play for the Bobcats!”

I hope it worked….

I just told my roommate that I think Crash is better than Melo

He thought I was crazy. For those who think I’m crazy, let’s take a look at a couple advanced stats

Offensive rating (ORtg) is how many points a player scores per 100 possessions. Similarly, defensive rating (DRtg) is how many points allowed by a player per 100 possessions. So you want ORtg to be high, DRtg to be low, got it?

Carmelo’s average ORtg for his career is 107, with an average DRtg of 107. In 2010, his ORtg was 110 and his DRtg was 109.

Gerald’s career avg ORtg is 108 and DRtg of 103. In 2010, Gerald’s ORtg was 113 and he had a DRtg of 100.

Obviously this isn’t a perfect statistic as none are, but I believe I’ve made my point. There are other stats out there that show similar things for the same effect but unless yall want em, I’ll refrain.

People are just in love with scorers. There is a reason that the people whose opinions actually matter

refuse to trade the likes of Eric Gordon, Joakim Noah, Blake Griffin, and Stephen Curry for Carmelo.

by Charlotte Bobcat on Sep 27, 2010 4:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Melo has the ability to get a shot off every 90 seconds. Wallace take 160 seconds.

Other than that Gerald has better eFG5, TS%, TRB%, BLK% ORTg, DRTG, WS and WS per 48.

And you would rather keep Wallace?

To trace this whole mess a little....

Since that aspect of things is past, I can talk a bit. Do you recall last week when I referred to Crash as “untouchable?”
It was at that time that Denver was fishing for Wallace and it’s what got us involved in this 4-team thing in the first place. Diaw became our counter-offer. The info I received was that Denver received the standard “Gerald Wallace is off the table unless it’s for something very special” response. According to the people I know, Melo’s agent was contacted by the Nuggs GM. Melo’s actual response was that he wouldn’t come to Charlotte unless both Jackson and Wallace were present because otherwise the team couldn’t be a winner. From what I was told, Anthony didn’t so much dump on the city or the team. He wants to be on a team that meets certain specifications, not the least of which is the ability to make a run for a ring along with the budget capacity to bring Chris Paul on board in a couple of years. (that’s my opinion based on what I was told, not a quote from Melo btw)

Anthony knows better than to openly diss Jordan or his team. That can get very expensive. I’m sure that by now I’m not revealing anything most of you hadn’t already figured out, but I wanted to give things a bit of a timeline perspective.
This deal is no more alive or dead than it was early this morning. The media is now reduced to commenting that Melo showed up on media day in his Nuggets uni. What the hell else was he going to wear, a Colorado Rockies uniform?

If I've learned something here...

its that Utah is willing to let AK go and get nothing but Diaw in return in order to dump salary. This seems like a good deal for a team willing to take on some salary for this year while still keeping flexibility in the long run (Ak has 1 year remaining, Diaw has 1 or 2 depending where I look..???). So the question is, how can we make this work out for us?

by miltonwall on Sep 27, 2010 6:34 PM EDT reply actions

We would need to find a third team to make the numbers work.

Utah is trying to get under the luxury. Diaw makes about half as much as AK. If our intentions are to keep AK, we would need to trade someone else (Nazr), to a team that willing to take on his salary this year for a draft pick or a really cheap player.

by Charlotte Bobcat on Sep 27, 2010 6:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, I know that the math isn't simple between the two teams...

which is why I figured somebody here would figure it out. I’ve seen enough crazy multi-team trades on here that I figured somebody would be onto something. I’m not even necessarily suggesting that AK should come here but if thats all the compensation that Utah wants it might be a good way to secure a center.

by miltonwall on Sep 27, 2010 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

No

While I like AK as a player, it’s just not worth taking him on. Doesn’t matter how you slice it. The deal is great for Utah. Not because Diaw is anything the player that AK is (or was), but because he’s paid a lot less each season, and he’s more useful due to his versatility.

Diaw has a player for the next season. Some fools on the internet count that as an expiring deal, but it’s clearly not.

Delusional

First Bosh, now Melo. You think he wouldn’t make the same mistake twice but he’s setting himself up for it.
