Rick Bonnell starring as the voice of reason
Mr. Bonnell plainly tells it like it is, and the reality is...we've never had a better roster at the start of a training camp. Naysayers, check your pessimism at the door.

Surprisingly good analysis
Bonnell has a reputation of being a downer because he’s more realistic than optimistic. As a journalist, he’s not supposed to write like a fan. But he’s not rooting against the Bobcats either.
What he predicts is pretty middle of the road. The Bobcats should be a playoff team so long as Crash and Jax stay healthy. The Bobcats aren’t positioned to become a contender, but the sky is not falling just because Dampier was cut either.

Bonnell has been played for a patsy by Bobcats management for 3 seasons now.
I won’t speculate as to whether it’s his own fault or not, but he seems to specialize in seeing the bleakest aspect of any Bobcats situation. Objectivity is one thing, but it’s my opinion that Bonnell overcompensates toward the negative to avoid being accused of having a positive bias.

Agreed
This article by Bonnell was good. However, you can be assured that his next article will be negative to balance it out. Let’s hope he has changed his ways. I will start giving him props on RoF after he writes two positive articles in a row.

I won't.
But I will take it is a sign that the Bobcats have begun to win over one of their most jaded critics.
Now if we can just get Hollinger and the rest of the ESPN crew to acknowledge the progress this exciting team has made we’ll really be getting somewhere.

GOOD JOB BONNELL.
First time I’ve ever uttered those words. It just may be the last.
