Bobcats to sign Sherron Collins as 3rd PG
The Bobcats are going to sign Sherron Collins to be their third point guard, according to an AP report. Knowing Larry Brown, he'll almost certainly give Collins some burn, despite his lack of size, and will almost certainly infuriate me by playing Collins and D.J. Augustin in the same back court, even after the evidence builds that neither can defend large point guards, let alone other guards who can abuse them in the post and shoot over them from the perimeter. I'm holding out little hope his defense will be any better than Augustin's.
The best case scenario? Collins turns out to be D.J.-esque with his scoring ability, but also brings creation skill, effectively pushing Augustin to the margins and forming a better offense-defense combination with Shaun Livingston. Most likely, Collins will play, but won't play in every game, and won't get more than 6 or 7 minutes when he does see the floor.

I don't know
If he’s a Bobcats fan with the mindset like me, he’s probably accepted by now the idea that the Bobcats never pickup the good young players we so desperately want

Yeah.... Im a little crushed honestly.
I just hope Patty gets to play somewhere. There is no good reason why he shouldn’t be on an NBA roster right now
Cat Scratch Reader's resident optimist.
As well you should
We just got DJ 2.0…at least his contract isn’t guaranteed so if he shines and duplicates DJ we can move DJ.
...and mark my words I will be taking an extended leave of absense if anybody post this
Well this is a sign we’re trading DJ/Dampier for CP3/Emeka so we signed a pg who can come in and provide offense off the bench.
Ha ha ha...
Nope, we are waiving the white flag on getting something done. Sign the pudge PG, waive Damp, sign some lump of clay as a back-up 5….UGH!
So this makes 2 pgs under 6 feet
I think the Bobcats plans this offseason were to just form a team to inspire all the short people in the world to dream that even they can make an nba team

We just don't like tall PGs
Felton, Knight & Boykins. Before Livingston sadly our tallest PG was probably Jason Hart.
there was that one trade
i saw on baseline that was for Mo Williams and then Andris Biedras the guy that made it said it was for if we were to waive Dampier
I think what he's saying is..
baseline has a post up now that talks about Dampier being cut so that a trade for Mo Williams and Biedras can be made. Here’s the link…
If those trades could be pulled off we would be a good team
Not great, but much better than last year. We’d get to compete for 4th and hope to make it to round 2. This is a mest case scenario, but absent of superstars, it’s not a bad place to be. Without a deal like that, this team is milk toast until we can blow it up.
Let's all face it this is it! This is our roster going into the season
DJ/Livingston/Collins
Jax/Hendo/Carroll
Crash/UPS/Najera
TT/Diaw
Nazr/Diop
Probably sign Hughes and Jawai or something dumb!
Meh...
Well i have to be honest, i hate it. I think that Mo is a good offensive player, but his terrible defense will not be tolerated by LB. 36 million remaining on Biedrins contract sounds like a recurring nightmare (Avereage center with a bloated contract!). Earlier optomism is suddenly giving way to seemingly unavoidable dread…
I think we're all longing for a sexy move...
and this team rarely makes those type of moves. I think MJ is leading up to something, but not this year. I think sometime in the future, he’s going to make a move…but I just hope he’s not shooting us in the foot. If this is the roster, then so be it. I’m gonna watch just about every game just like I did last year, and I’m gonna root like hell…but on the surface, this team does not look good.
Well you drank the Kool-Aid
How is he leading up to something you took an asset that would have gotten more valuable as the season went on (Tyson Chandler and his 13mil expiring) an arguably promising young big man (Alexis Ajinca) and trade for two more end of the bench riders Najera & Carroll (18 million left in owed salaries) so basically 15 million in useful players for 18 million in garbage. If I had invested in the Bobcats I would have killed myself by now, maybe have taken my children and wife with me as they tend to do.
it doesnt make sense because...
we arent done dealing?? ok that was sopposed to me a confident statement but i cant lie to myself…i too feel like we arent going to get that sexy trade we all wanted
question though…an im sorry JDuane for asking this…please over look the comment so u dont take an extended leave, BUT…
Could we still be feeding out BS that we are going to waive dampier so that teams who would love that instant cap relief, will start scrambling?? if they really thin we are waiving Damp, they might get desperate…im not singling out the hornets by any means…but possibly one of the other teams we considered as back ups…who knows?
all i know is this roster FUGLY!
Well it wasn't a CP3 comment technically
I don’t think so I think we thought we could swing another deal but the more days that pass the more teams are done dealing until they see what they have. I don’t think there is any team that needs to save the money that bad. This was a poor decision on our parts because with all the TPEs out there Dampier isn’t nearly as valuable as he would have been in other seasons. If this were last year we could have gotten 2 very solid players for his contract.
I apologize to David for bringing something from a FanPost over here in his post, but I feel like I’ve been kicked in the stomach. I had so such high hopes over a month ago. I thought our roster was going to be this:
DJ/Livingston/Collins
Jax/Hendo
Crash/UPS
Beasley/Dwayne Jones
Tyson/Nazr/Diop/Ajinca
While having millions available in the coming season. I’m just wondering how many more boneheaded decision will this FO make? It’s getting old. I’d rather completely rebuild then just squeak into the playoffs every year.
Maybe Hollinger is right about us being 30th in the future power rankings.
I like to think that MJ doesn’t want to put a sub-par team on the floor next year, but the longer this plays out, i’m beginning to think that is exactly what is going to happen. I would rather have last seasons roster, with all of their flaws, than this bunch of crap we have at the moment.
We'd have what looks to be a healthy Tyson too for a whole season.
There is no method to the madness. Completely mind numbing.
DJ/Livingston + Tyson sounded good to me
DJ/Livingston + Najera/Carroll doesn’t sound good. If we cut Dampier, we went all in and came out worse for the wear. There’s something to be said for trying.
There's not much to say for trying...
With LB here we will never win. I’m not saying he’s behind it but damn this guy wants new players to jerk off to every other month, it builds no team chemistry.
The part that makes it so mad we got exposed by the Pick N Roll last year and a healthy Tyson can defend that. We have shit to defend it now.
My thoughts exactly...

if I jump am I a vegetable the rest of my life of am I lucky enough to complete the job?
Someone jumped off the top of a parking deck in downtown Greensboro
at 11:11 and died instantly. A bunch of my friends saw him lying on the ground.. they were very freaked out

You forget that
Chandler gets healthier every time somebody mentions him on here. By the start of the season he’ll be an ironman… Really though, a full, healthy season from him is, like the Easter bunny, a figment of your imagination.
+1
This is the same guy that was healthy in the playoffs last year and averaged:
3.5 ppg and 2.5 rpg. This is what we paid him 13 million for(more than any other Bobcat).
You know how many games he started in the regular season for 13 mil? 27 out of 82 and he only averaged 22 minutes per game.
Also, when Crash called him out for not putting out enough effort, he took it like a b****.
I literally have no respect for a player like this and I dont think he deserves to be a Bobcat.
I think that If Dampier gives us the opportunity to resign, we will be just as good as last season.
Tell me this is the beginning of the move to send Dampier to NO for CP3
Then DJ and friends for Okafor….
Never speak of this again....

does Sherron Collins have the potential to be a starter?
i know not this year but in the future maybe?
yep, I'm now officially afraid
The longer this all goes on I’m more and more scared that Damp will be dropped and maybe another minor trade happens but nothing spectacular.
I just watched Legion tonight (sounded like an interesting premise), so I’m not very hopeful at the moment.
I'm not afraid of crap
they’re still the Bobcats. They’re still our team, and no matter what happens there isn’t anything we can do about it. There’s a logical explanation for everything, and we all got super stoked about “what could have been” that we lost sight of the team. Jordan tried to make something SERIOUS happen, and failed. We should be atleast somewhat positive that he’s attempting to make large strides so early. He may have failed THIS time, but we’ve got a brighter future than most are willing to believe. More teams than not have been in that situation. More teams than not are in a worse position than us. More teams than not have bigger question marks than us. Honestly, we’re a well coached team with chemistry and stable vets. We have mad potential in Hendo and Brown. Ajinca was dead weight. We want to shoot for the moon, but let’s not all forget how freakin pumped we were when the Cats simply MADE the playoffs. Now we’re expecting that and more. Should we? of course, but all in all it is what it is. I’m excited to see the team in action again, regardless of personell. I will be there just like I have always been. Wearin my Wallace jersey and gettin loud!

Amen brother!
I’ve been sitting in a seat since day one and I’ve seen lots of crappy basketball. Last year, we finally got to see some good basketball. Good or bad, I still get stoked for tipoff every night because they’re my team. For better or worse. I’m a grown man and I still get stoked every time the lights go down and the starting lineups are announced to (fill in the blank rap song). “LET’S GO! IF YOU WANT IT YOU CAN GET IT LET ME KNOW. I’M GONNA BREAK THIS THING OFF LET’S GO!”
I can’t wait for the schedule to come out this week so we can start getting excited about games and not just chatter. Regardless of the players ……….. I root for the jersey!

Oh the excitement
I’ve been on a cruise for the last 8 days and apparently these are the biggest 3 stories I missed:
1) Cats sign Collins
2) MJ bought a condo in Charlotte
3) A lot of arguments over grammar, punctuation, etc.
Looks like I picked a great week to be gone. On the signing of Collins, I don’t have an issue with it. Let’s face it, we’re signing a guy who will carry luggage for most of the season anyway and there’s no way he can be worse than Sean Singletary. Although I do miss the way he could hit the side of the backboard on corner 3s. A lost art indeed!
