Sources close to the situation told FanHouse on Tuesday [Gerald Wallace, Tyreke Evans, and O.J. Mayo are] expected to be among the cuts when Team USA on Wednesday reveals the 15 out of 19 remaining players who will be invited to New York for the Aug. 10-16 training camp in preparation for next month's World Championship in Turkey. As to who might be the fourth cut, sources said that was still being debated.

Suits me just fine...

Let him get to 110% and ready for the season.

+1

I watched the White/Blue game. He seemed either a little uncomfortable or not particularly interested, which works for me. It looked a lot like how he played in the all-star game. He needs to rest.

Honestly...

I think he was honored to be there…but I think he worries more about the Home Team than he does anything else…

Just like the Dunk Contest and the All Star game. He knew we were pushing for the playoffs and he did not want to get hurt…

I think this is the similar situation

I'm a Bobcats Fan 1st, Crash Fan 2nd

Gerald Wallace may be the best player on the Bobcats but he’s not a true All Star or an Olympic-type Player. He was disapointing in the Dunk contest and All-Star Game. He disappeared during the Playoffs at the end of games when Howard was off the floor with foul trouble. He’s a good player that gives his all every game, but he’s not a 4th quarter-get the ball in his hands and get out the way so we can win the game-type of star player. Thats what the Bobcats need…Crash would be the perfect compliment to that kind of player.

He is a true All star or olympic type player

He just devotes his body and game to his NBA team.. nothing wrong with that, especially how he plays

But looks at his stats and defense and tell me he isn’t one of the top 5 all around players (scoring, rebounding, defense, etc)

Top 5 in the NBA? Really?

I’ll tell you that. I love to watch Crash play, but he’s much better suited to play in the NBA than against international competition, where his free throw and perimeter shooting are major liabilities.

I agree that Crash is technically more a number 2 guy

But to this team, he’s everything. He is our allstar

by and1droid on Jul 28, 2010 4:25 PM EDT up reply actions

YES!

I’m sorry, but I am thrilled that he won’t be throwing his body around for any team other than the Charlotte Bobcats. Best news I’ve heard all day (so far).

I'm not going to root against crash to make the usa team

but I’m not going to be sad if he gets cut. I’d love to buy a gerald wallace usa jersey though

It's no biggie

Mike Krzyzewski has done an amazing job with the US national team, but it was clear to me that Crash wasn’t his kind of player and wouldn’t really fit the system he was building.

Oh well, c’est la vie. For his system Danny Granger is a much better fit anyway.

I feel bad for Wallace who seemed legitimately interested in representing his country, but it’s good he’s not getting any more wear and tear on his body.

They must be more worried about scoring than defense

How do Granger, Rudy Gay, and Iggy all make it w/out Crash?

I’m still ok w/ it because it gives more assurance that Wallace will be healthy to start the season, I still feel kind of slighted.

by and1droid on Jul 28, 2010 4:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Clearly-

This was a safety issue. He would have hurt himself. Or his teammates. Or the opposing team’s players. Or the world at large. This decision to cut him was based in fear. My guess is that it was probably mandate handed down from the UN as to not upset the natural order of planet Earth.

Crash was ready. The world wasn’t.

Colangelo just hates everything to do with the Bobcats organization now.

Hes getting revenge on MJ for pulling the plug on the Calderon deal. He doesnt want any Bobcats getting International coverage.

Jerry Colangelo != Bryan Colangelo

Maybe the whole family hates the ’Cats now…
