Shrewd marketing moves by MJ

We touched on it briefly when first announced, but there appeared to be an ancillary benefit for Michael Jordan allowing 2K Games to put him on the cover of their 'NBA 2K11' video game this fall.

According to this report from John Lombardo of SportsBusiness Journal the Charlotte Bobcats have just entered an agreement for 2K Games to have signage inside TWC Arena, on Bobcats.com and in print marketing. In addition, the article also discusses how MJ is looking to expand the Jordan brand impact on the Charlotte Bobcats, while expanding his prior marketing agreements with Hanes and Gatorade to include the Bobcats.

This is fantastic news for the fiscal stability of the franchise. For people wondering how MJ can hang with some of these billionaire owners he can due to his cache with advertisers across the country. The Bobcats' have come a far way from Spongetech this time last year to having some Fortune 500 companies advertising in TWC.
