Shannon Brown anyone??

The signing of Matt Barnes with the Lakers has put an end to the speculation of Shannon Brown returning to the Lakers. Does anyone else think he would make a great addition to our roster? He has more experience now (and a ring) and has gotten better in leaps (no pun intended) and bounds. I think he would play very well beside Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson. AND the team would be a beast with CP3 at the helm.

it would be nice. i wouldn’t see it happening though unless we pull off a deal such as ourdays and james’s where we end up sending hendo or some other combination of a few guards

thats an idea. hopefully we dont get too focused on saving hendo for paul, and missing our chance for brown

by unccatfan on Jul 23, 2010 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions

In that scenario...

maybe we could send Hendo for Paul and then sign Brown??

by AnotherRealm on Jul 23, 2010 1:58 PM EDT up reply actions

thats what i was thinking, but we gotta get it done before brown gets picked up

by unccatfan on Jul 23, 2010 2:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe.....

MJ can dangle a Jordan brand endorsement in front of him if he just waits. LOL

would love to see

Shannon back in a Bobcats uni. If we pull of “the coup” then yeah I think we will have some back up guard spots open and if the price is right then hell yeah.

at our current roster no money and no room.

I'd still rather have Cartier Martin

We got a few highlight dunkers in Hendo, Tyrus, Crash, and possibly Livingston
Other than dunks…what does Brown do?

there is if we send hendo off somewhere. would you prefer brown of hammer?

by unccatfan on Jul 23, 2010 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Check the highlight reel I posted

There are some pretty good defensive plays in there as well.

I saw them....

At one time I really wanted Shannon Brown back…and I also wanted Cartier Martin back.
If I am replacing Hendo…I suppose either would fit the bill
Hopefully I’m not replacing him…and of Cartier and Shannon…which one is a better shooter?
We need a shooter and passer

by andrewlail76 on Jul 23, 2010 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Shooter

I would have to go with Brown on that one.

by Lazy Dog on Jul 23, 2010 3:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Shannon Brown's jumper is questionale at best

Martin is a much better shooter. Brown may have higher percentages, but that is primarily because Brown gets most of his points off of dunks, layups, and put backs.

Just a question....

If a guy scores 20 off jumpers, and another guy scores 20 off dunks, whats the difference? Basically, 20 points is 20 points, right?

One is stretching the defense out and the other is collapsing the defense. Either way, it leaves other people open. No??

by AnotherRealm on Jul 23, 2010 3:48 PM EDT up reply actions

Give me a shooter..

..since we have so few of them. Plenty of guys who can dunk, but we need to stretch the floor with someone who can hit shots.

by Bassnote on Jul 23, 2010 4:29 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm glad someone could explain this...

A dunker…you don’t have to stick him on defense…just keep him away from the rim…a shooter that can dunk…double trouble…

Stretching the floor is our greatest weakness
No shooters = can’t have any offense against the Zone Defense…

exactly

a dunker can be stopped or contained. Any shooter can make layups or dunks

Another good highlight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4IKG8DWu2E

Looking at these highlights, I think he would fit perfectly back with the Bobcats. Shot blocker, awesome in the fast break, and a killer slasher.

Just like the Livingston videos...remember

they are Highlights

someone post some real stats

by andrewlail76 on Jul 23, 2010 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Career Stats

6.1 PPG, .6 SPG, 1APG, 1.5 RPG, 42% FG, 33% 3P, 78% FT

All that in less than 16 minutes per game

Not bad considering he has been used sparingly everywhere he has played so far. I think more minutes allows him to stay in the flow of the game and those numbers increase.

brown's defense

isn’t bad and has dramatically improved while playing alongside kobe (presumably against him in practice/scrimmages)

but i prefer gerald hendo’s upside over shannon brown anyday

I attended his final game as a Bobcat. Here is how it went.

Shannon Brown’s final game as a Bobcats was against Atlanta on February 6, 2009.

At the 5:16 mark in the 4th quarter Shannon Brown enters the game with Charlotte down 90-86. This is a game where the Bobcats had been up by 17 points.

Shannon made a three pointer and a layup as the Bobcats kept battling to come back. Still down by 3 the Bobcats get the ball back with 34 seconds left. Shannon inbounds the ball by passing it directly to Josh Smith and blows a chance for a tie. Fortunately after running the clock down Mike Bibby of Atlanta misses a shot with 14 seconds left. Felton grabs the rebound pushes the ball up the court.

We are still down by 3 with chance to tie with the clock running. Felton passes the ball to Shannon Brown who fakes left then right and then slashes to the basket with 3 seconds left. His layup attempt is blocked by Josh Smith. Note the Bobcats down by 3 and Shannon Brown ignored an opportunity for a 3 point shot to attempt a layup with 3 seconds left.

Two days later Shannon Brown was traded to L.A. I doubt Larry Brown wants him back.

I remember that. I attended that game too

we were all so confused why he took it inside

I was confused after re-reading my post. The last line should read...

Note the Bobcats were down by 3. Shannon Brown ignored an opportunity to take a 3 point shot and instead attempted a layup with 3 seconds on the clock.

(Yo beem moment?)

Meh

We’re overloaded at the guard position. And if Shannon Brown is so good why isn’t he sticking with the Lakers ya know?

Oh…and I haven’t done one of these in a while so…
