Do we REALLY want Chris Paul?

If its true that he wants to play with another superstar and go to the Knicks, Magic, or Lakers...and not be the 'Man' playing with up and coming stars on any other team, as fans do we want him leading the Bobcats?  Most likely the Bobcats would have to give up their star player in Gerald Wallace, WHO WANTS TO BE HERE!  Chris Paul would instantly be the head star athlete in all professional sports in CHA if he came to the Bobcats but at what cost and for how long?  This reminds me a lot of when Baron Davis didn't want to get drafted by the Hornets and was more than ready to leave when they moved.  (I'm still seeing my therapist about that)

we won't be be

getting rid of Wallace for CP3. We’re getting rid of Dampier. The only way we’re losing Wallace is to get Carmelo Anthony. So to answer your question…YES we want Chris Paul are you insane?

umm is this 4real??

yes we want paul! heres the thing, he said the magic, lakers, and knicks because he could pair up with a star…the second we got cp3, we would make the trade for melo…that means 2 stars both here in charlotte

so im going to have to say yes to ur question

Something like this

Trade 1: Erick Dampier to New Orleans for Chris Paul http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2739ale
Trade 2: DJ Augustin, Gerald Henderson, Nazr Mohammad, unprotected 1st round pick, 2nd round pick for Emeka Okafor http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2eyj3tu

Meh

Too much IMO

Best contract in the NBA
2 young prospects who have high potential
A center who played his heart out and very well this year
2 picks
for CP3 and a player they have been trying to get rid of since we gave him to them… and who averaged under 10 ppg last year..

Take away Gerald Hendo and its a deal

Henderson?

I understand why folks don’t want to part with Wallace but Henderson? Really? You would call off a deal to get Paul because they are asking for Henderson? Wouldn’t be a hard decision for me.

Damn, I mean ROF thing.

I keep thinking about Ring of Honor first when I think of this website. Every damn time. Lol. But yeah, Gerald Henderson is a GOD around these parts.

GOD shot 1-18 against West Virginia a few years ago

Sorry, couldn’t resist. :)

I think he has potential too and got somewhat unfairly stuck on the pine last year. But there is not way in hell I don’t throw him in a trade if somebody wants him.

If after 6 years ....

Henderson is your best draft pick, yuck. That says all you need to know about our ability to draft. That’s probably why we’re all so excited to hear trade rumors!

I personally think Okafor was a bona fide good draft pick.

It’s the contract we gave him that makes him so unpleasant to have on the team, not his skillset.
He’s not particularly exciting to watch, but he does the job, if a bit dispassionately.

My sources can beat up your sources

Not a lot to choose from

But it’s difficult to call Okafor or Felton a mistake. Not a lot of talent drafted after them and they were solid, although not spectacular, starters for years. I can’t see how Henderson is even in the conversation at this point unless ………. for the love of God, you’re a Dook fan.

YES

And to answer your question YES we would want CP3 here. As for Melo that’s another story.

by Lazy Dog on Jul 22, 2010 8:26 AM EDT reply actions

I don't want Paul if we have to give up Gerald.

However, if not, BRING HIM ON!!! I’m not worried about that “I want to play with a superstar” crap. I think next year is going to be the year that everyone finally realizes that ultimately, basketball is still a team game. If Paul came to us, the improvement in winning, the hall of fame coach, and two “star” players like Jax and Crash plus a young gun like Tyrus is going to be enough to have him thinking, “ya know what, I don’t need Carmelo or Amare to win, I can do it with these guys”. The problem is New Orleans has caused him to abandon that frame of mind by surrounding him with over the hill role players and David West and Emeka Okafor, so he probably really feels like the only way he’ll get a title now is it play with Howard or somebody.

by Charlotte Bobcat on Jul 22, 2010 8:39 AM EDT reply actions

Yes..

as long as we don’t give up some of our core players as stated above.

by Warmec on Jul 22, 2010 8:54 AM EDT reply actions

Doubt one happens without the other

James and OurDay made it clear that the mega deal was the thing in play, and all of that makes perfect sense. Paul won’t come here unless we can throw a LOT of assets and cap relief to the Hornets, AND get him Melo to play beside. To do that would at a minmum, require the deals and pieces shared by our friends here, period. Neither NO or Denver gets anywhere close to equal value, but they do it only if they are convinced the guys are gone AND that they will make this upcoming season a living hell unless they are dealt.

by Bassnote on Jul 22, 2010 9:03 AM EDT reply actions

Not true at all man

If we got CP3 here, we would realize we don’t need Melo.. noone ever said we had to get Melo if we got CP3..

+1 these deals only happen togather. The best way for us to attract Paul and ultimatley keep him is to Guarantee him that we will bring Melo in. I love Gerald Wallace but alot of you guys are being major HOMERS. Your telling me you would not want to get rid of Gerald if we can bring in the Best Point Guard in the NBA and The Best Scorer in the NBA. Melo can lead the league in scoring, Paul is a top 5 player in the NBA. Scoring would be so easy for this team unlike what we are used to seeing. Both these trades are no brainers if we ever want to win a Championship.

by Bcat2.0 on Jul 22, 2010 11:51 AM EDT up reply actions

GW ftw

I think a lot of us are wanting to keep Gerald here is because he plays with heart every single damn night. He’s been with the organization since day 1 and if we do get CP here and decide to win some games and make a name for the Bobcats nationally, WE WANT GERALD TO BE A PART OF IT! That is all in our perfect little world :)

by SkidNsnaP on Jul 22, 2010 3:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Heck of a point.

He was there in the lean years and played night after night in a largely empty room where more people cheered for the visitors than the home team. He deserves to be there for the good times. The love that rained down on him when he was introduced during the first home playoff game was an awesome thing to experience and it was long, long overdue.

Gerald’s got to be a Bobcat when we take the Heat out.

I kinda like that

Throw out jr smith, throw in some draft picks(although i really really miss having a draft pick) , by some i mean a hell of a lot, im not sure why denver would want diaw though. That would only work though if paul and melo both demanded a trade. Wich if both of that happens im sure the NBA is sure to follow with an investigation on jordan and the bobcats for any “tampering”.

by noahzackv on Jul 22, 2010 6:03 PM EDT up reply actions

why

would denver want to do this?

theyre not trying to dump salary and are desperately wanting melo to extend

by adamcawa on Jul 22, 2010 10:15 AM EDT up reply actions

thats why!

They are desperately wanting Melo to extend. He isnt gonna extend. Him and Paul are outta there. They wanna play together. Its a Jordan strong arm. Either lose your players in 2 years with no compensation and no chance at a title. or get somethign in return for these guys and still be able to build a little.

Let's sign Sean May to a $13M unguaranteed contract

Then we can trade him like Dampier or cut him and watch him cry.
