Who will play center for the Bobcats?
It looks more and more like the Calderon deal is getting done without a trade exception coming our way, which would be mighty curious, considering that we'd be giving up two starting-quality players for one starter and one career benchie. (UPDATE: Bonnell seems to believe at least some sort of trade exception is coming our way, while Toronto people aren't including that information in their reports.) Obviously, Michael Jordan, Larry Brown, Rod Higgins, and whoever else is negotiating these deals is going to have to dig up a center somehow. Many of you like the idea of Al Jefferson, but what, exactly, do we offer that another team, like, say, the Mavericks, couldn't offer? Another name thrown around was Emeka Okafor, but, as much as I'd love to bring him back (and make my jersey less throwback-ish), he was only mentioned 'round here as a necessary add-on with Chris Paul, which isn't likely to happen with Calderon now on board.
However, I propose that the Bobcats are going to look elsewhere, and try to be creatively cheap with their solution to this problem, because even if they can make a deal work under the constraints of the CBA, it's still real money they'd have to pay in salary.
Jefferson is set to make $13 million, $14 million, and $15 million in the next three years. As good as he is offensively, there are enough questions about his defense and health that I'm not sure the Cats see him as a good investment. I'd argue that virtually any potential perennial All-Star like Jefferson is a good investment for the Cats, even with significant health risks, because the potential gain is so great, given where the franchise is in its success cycle. If they stand pat, or keep adding somewhat above average players like Stephen Jackson and Jose Calderon, they'll be depending on everything coming together for multiple pieces in one season, everything fitting together just right, all in the hope of winning a playoff series. Or two. But without at least one transcendent talent, there will be no championships. So if you get a chance to get that guy... GET HIM.
This is why a max contract to Rudy Gay is slightly more defensible than a max contract to Joe Johnson. Why it's okay for the Bobcats to trade anyone off their roster (even though, emotionally, I can't even begin to contemplate trading Gerald Wallace). And it's why everyone thinks David Kahn is out of his mind to want to trade Jefferson. He already has a guy who, conceivably, could lead a championship team, and he's choosing to jettison him for Darko Milicic and depth. Yikes.
So who are the creatively cheap options? I'll start the rosterbation with suggesting Hasheem Thabeet. Yes, the guy who was in the D-League last year. If the Grizzlies just want to dump his contract, we'll send them Reggie Evans. Done and done.
Dude can't play offense worth a damn, but the guy is a legitimately great shot blocker, and while this team could use a more complementary player to Tyrus Thomas, maybe an offensive-minded player while TT plays D, it's not necessarily a bad thing to pair two similar post defenders with our aggressive on-ball defenders. I mentioned a no-fly zone with Tyson Chandler pairing with Tyrus. Thabeet and Thomas and Wallace would be a no-takeoff zone. It wouldn't even be considered to drive the lane on those guys. We'll win by keeping you under 90 points.
Find someone else who's not quite on the radar, a lower-budget guy who could help us out at center.

OK, let me throw out some names
Shaq – um…he’d be a big fan draw…how much game does he have left? A big body to dump the ball down low to for an easy 2 maybe?
Jason or Jarron Collins?
Brad Miller?
Channing Frye?
Ilgauskas?
Joel Przybilla?
Andrew Lail?
Slim Pickin’s unless we pull off 1 more trade…
Hmmmmm?
From that list I think i would go for Przybilla or Ilgauskas.
Frye resigned with the Suns and Ilgauskas is said to be joining LeBron in Miami
I have never been a fan of the Collins brothers. I would give Stromile Swift a call before considering those two…and Stromile is playing in China. As you stated, the selection is pretty slim. I trust that the front office already has a 5 in mind.

Definitely would rather pick up a D-Leaguer than either of the Collins brothers.
David was looking for talent, not someone to get repeatedly dunked over.
Can Shaq be productive for more than 13 minutes per game though?
I also (and this is my pet peeve and I understand if it doesn’t bother others) would not attend many games if we had Shaq on the squad because anyone averaging less than 60% from the line with the years of experience he has is shameful. It’s painful to watch him at the line and it’s something he should have fixed a decade ago.

I agree it's looking more like a lower-budget guy
I think MJ was willing to over spend to bring in a Star like Chris Paul. But that dream has faded. About the only thing we can do without dismantling our team is to bring in a guy like Thabeet. We played well with unlikely centers last year. And if the rest of the offense is improved with Calderon and Thomas in as starters, then another unlikely center again should still allow us to improve upon last year.

Why is this dream fading?
I think MJ was willing to over spend to bring in a Star like Chris Paul.
I still fully expect the Bobcats and MJ to make a strong, strong play to bring Chris Paul to Charlotte.
One way to get Paul would be to persuade NO to trade for some expiring contracts. Doable.
The other is to wait. Play with Calderon, Jax, Wallace, Thomas and hope that Wallace and Thomas continue to beast it out, and then let MJ and the prospect of playing alongside up-and-coming stars (Wallace and Thomas (and Henderson & Brown?)) in his home state persuade CP3 himself. Paul, Jax, Wallace, Thomas, and any 5 is more than formidable. And in my view has championship potential.
I still see it as a very real possibility.
Because it's sounding like he's too expensive

We have plenty if that mystery exception really exists
and if it’s for a reasonable sum
AND if it can be used without tripping over some OTHER landmine in the NBA trade rules

AND… ah screw it. Y’all know this tune. Sing along by yourselves from here.

Hi everyone, I’m Monty Hall! If you remember our last episode ended with Mikey Jordan holding 5 combination players he got from playing our other mini games but had a tough decision to make. Well Mikey, what are you gonna do? Do you want to keep your five players or trade them for whomever is behind the curtain? I’ll tell you what…Let me sweeten the deal. You can have what’s behind the curtain OR you can keep your five utility power forwards and we’ll throw in a $5 million exeption AND you can have what’s in the box that Carol Meryl is bringing down the aisle! What’ll it be? How about if we make that an $8 million exception? What do you say to that? Huh? You’ll take the players AND the exception AND what’s in the box?? Okay then! First, let’s look at what’s behind the curtain…. oooooohhhhhh it was Emekar Okafor! Too bad. Well, let’s take a peek in the box shall we? Carol?… It’s… an envelope. What’s inside? A 3-year contract extension for Desagana Diop! Whoa Mickey! You got ZONKED! Oh well, thanks for playing and maybe we’ll see you soon on our newest gameshow Lottery Draw!!!

I wrote this in the other topic, but it seems appropriate here too
I just got off the phone with a friend of mine inside the organization.
He could only be very vague, and much of what he said echoed what Ourday wrote in the Boris Diaw fanshot.
Let me set this up by saying that I don’t rely on this guy hardly ever, normally I only call him to talk Cats business when I have a hunch something else is around the corner. I left him a message Friday asking him about Chris Paul, but he gave me some more insight.
- Chris Paul was definitely a target, but ultimately the asking price was too high. It would have taken all the Bobcats expiring contracts, plus draft picks, plus taking on enough contracts from NO that they couldn’t match an offer sheet on Tyrus Thomas if one was to circulate.
- The Luis Scola rumor was just that, never had any bearing on their plans. I could have been leaked on purpose, but he didn’t know.
- Jose Calderon is a player the Bobcats had on their radar for a while, and were looking to sign him to an offer sheet in 2008. Possibly trading Felton then, this supports something he told me in mid 2008 that the Bobcats were looking to move Felton around the draft.
- Finally, he said (like Ourday’s source) that something major is in the works and that we should see news of it by the end of the week, if we don’t then the deal fell through. I probed him about Jefferson, I asked about the position they’re looking for and he stonewalled me. He told me, and I quote: "James, there are two types of deals. Those you can talk about because nobody else would mess it up, and those that are so big that if it got out someone would screw it up, this is one of those."
So, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

And once again James
Let me back you up by saying that my guys are saying the exact same thing. I don’t know anything too specific, but I’ve been told that whatever is in the wind tonight will be VERY big and surprising if the Bobcats pull it off. The only info I really have is that it will involve the T-Wolves but I get the impression they’d be the first part of a multi-team shuffle as opposed to a direct deal between Charlotte and Minnesota. A portion of what’s already happened was in preparation to put the pieces in place on our end of things. I have no frikkin’ idea what that means and I apologize. I’m just relating what I was told. It’s very frustrating because if I beg for any more hints I run the risk of being unable to get anything else in the future. I don’t want to burn these guys down. They’ve given me some really good info in the past. Andrew can vouch for that because usually I tell him first (on the phone or FB) and he helps me sort through it. We both knew Felton was history quite some time ago but I was asked to keep it on the down low so we couldn’t say anything.

When he first started telling me stuff we had a pretty fair agreement:
- He wouldn’t tell me anything that could cost him his job
- I wouldn’t ask again if he told me he couldn’t tell me
It sounds like you know slightly more than me, as I wasn’t told any teams. I may have an inkling on a player who could be a target, and it’s not Jefferson… but I don’t really want to say too much more until I know more.

One more thing I know I can add
Don’t ask me how… because I don’t know, but apparently Tyson Chandler’s salary had to get moved via trade for whatever this is to work, his expiring contract was not wanted as part of this other deal and they couldn’t pull it off due to cap issues with Chandler still on the books.
I don’t understand the details… but that’s what I do know.

OKay then
I was told the Chandler move was one of the pieces they had to put into place but I got so confused after that I couldn’t figure out anything close to why. I think we’re getting similar info but you just understand the trade game better than I do so you can make more sense of it than I.
We’re hearing the same things though, so I think we can at least assure everyone that the Charlotte Player Shuffle of 2010 isn’t over yet.
by Ourdaywillcome on Jul 12, 2010 11:30 PM EDT up reply actions
If the Bobcats were to take in an influx of salary via trade they would have to make sure they stayed within the 125% rule which governs how much salary you can bring in over the cap.
I’m hearing that the other team/teams involved did not want Tyson Chandler’s contract, expiring or not (possibly because they would go into luxury, I’m not sure) so moving him to a separate interested party was tantamount to ensure they could take on more salary which they couldn’t if Chandler’s $12 million was still on the books. When the original report was Diaw and part of the trade exception it was likely that the Bobcats would have been able to keep Chandler, but when Toronto refused to part with any of the exception Chandler had to be moved.
Also, I need to stress again that the team are over the moon they got Calderon. They were prepared to pull the trigger of this deal when it was just Diaw for the trade exception… they didn’t expect to get Calderon, but it made the PG position better than anything they had in the works.

I like his potential but not the risk.
If he comes in and plays to his potential we have our man. But if he goes bust for us we’re in some serious trouble because we’ll be stuck at the five yet again. This team is turning having substandard Centers into an art form. A few seasons is unfortunate luck. What we’ve had is now moving past “trend” and into becoming part of the team core personality.
by Ourdaywillcome on Jul 12, 2010 10:04 PM EDT up reply actions
At the very least, Benson would be a solid defender and a marginal offensive threat.
But he has proved over several D-League seasons and a slew of call-ups to be a decent defensive center with good mobility and athleticism.
But I understand your fear. Damn you DIOP!!!!
Trade Exception Question
Calderon = 3 years at 29 million (9.5 million-ish a year)
Diaw = 2 years at 18 million (9 million a year)
Chandler = 1 year at 13 million
Evans = 1 year at 5 million
We trade 22 million in contracts to Toronto for 14.5 million in return. Do they have to give us a 7.5 million trade exception to make up the difference?
From Wikipedia
Traded Player Exception: If a team trades away a player with a higher salary than the player they acquire in return (we’ll call this initial deal “Trade #1”), they receive what is called a Traded Player Exception, also known colloquially as a “Trade Exception”. Teams with a trade exception have up to a year in which they can acquire more salary in other trades (Trade #2, #3, etc) than they send away, as long as the gulf in salaries for Trade #2, #3, etc are less than or equal to the difference in salary for Trade #1. This exception is particularly useful when teams trade draft picks straight-up for a player; since draft picks have no salary value, often the only way to get salaries to match is to use a trade exception, which allows trades to be made despite unbalanced salaries. It is also useful to compensate teams for losing free agents as they can do a sign and trade of that free agent to acquire a trade exception that can be used later. Note this exception is for single player trades only, though additional cash and draft picks can be part of the trade.
Yes... they would have to. Which is why none of this is making sense right now.
Most recently I heard that we would be getting some of the Suns trade exception from A’mare…. but that would mean we’re getting a player from the Suns, and sending one to the Suns.
I’m holding out hope that the deal may be the following:
- Suns get: Hido Turkoglu, Tyson Chandler
- Raptors get: Leandro Barbosa, Boris Diaw
- Bobcats get: Jose Calderon, Robin Lopez, part of Phoenix’s trade exception

double his PT to ~34 minutes a game:
16 pts
10 rebs
55% shooting
1.5 blocks
why are we complaining so much? I mean there is surely room for upgrade, but for 6 mil this guy isn’t bad.
2) To quickly explain to everyone why there is no trade exception involved:
Toronto was under the cap. Salaries need to match up or go down if you are over the cap (phoenix, charlotte). Salaries can be whatever if you are under (toronto). I can’t figure out the jibberish of when the trade exception is created, but since the bobcats went down in salary and toronto was under the cap, it isn’t really necessary.
3) For the people lamenting tyson’s D leaving, think about this: he was injured all the time. He routinely was benched for others when more physical post players were in the game (hey! we’re in the same division as dwight howard and chris bosh…and perhaps shaq if he signs with atlanta). The guy weighs 235. TWO HUNDRED THIRTY FIVE POUNDS. String bean. Why not mohammed and diop? Our defense is going to be wallace and jax driving, with jax and calderon shooting. Perhaps a few thousand TT putbacks, but seriously, is chandler that much of a loss?
4) mohammed, evans, and “prospect” derrick brown for Al Jeff and a pick. Lets be real, brown isn’t getting any playing time. We’d have a lineup of
Calderon/Augustin
Jackson/ Henderson
Wallace/ Henderson
Jefferson/Thomas
Thomas/ Diop/ Ajinca
We’d run 8 deep (you know, like most quality NBA teams). Now the huge major downside is that we wouldn’t have cap space in the coming years, but with a lineup like that…who cares?

Looks like Al Jefferson might be off the market
The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves continue to exchange proposals on an Al Jefferson trade and moved closer to a deal over the weekend, according to sources with knowledge of the talks. But the sides still don’t have a done deal, sources said, despite the fact that Dallas has somewhat eased its stance on the inclusion of Erick Dampier’s lucrative non-guaranteed contract in a trade for Jefferson.
ESPN
and
Sources said the Wolves, furthermore, are also receiving sustained interest in Jefferson from the Jazz, who have a trade exception created by their recent Carlos Boozer sign-and-trade with Chicago that is believed to be large enough to take in Jefferson’s contract.
ESPN
So now the question remains: Who is the Bobcats’ target? Surely they would have seen this coming.

Yes now i'm left wondering as well
I will be happy with a scoring Center who can play some D to complement TT.
I will not be happy if we could only get Calderon for Diaw/Chandler and nothing more (although I like him).. does not address the C and Chandler’s expiring was very valuable
GSO
If that's all it was then I'm still thrilled honestly
Which PG could we have gotten with Chandler’s expiring? We just went through a free agency period where Raymond Felton was the best PG available.
Teams are learning that a good point guard is near hard to find, and with this current NBA trend towards the Derrick Rose’s, Tyreke Evans’ and John Wall’s you’re seeing less and less pass first point guards entering the NBA.
The true value if no other move is made is the absolute luxury and decadence of paying Tyrus Thomas $12.5 million this year without going over the cap. This means the remaining 4 years of his deal are partly paid for with cash this year. If he emerges like we think he will into a very goof PF then we’re sitting pretty with a key member of the team making less that $7 million. As it stands right now the Bobcats have four of the five starting positions accounted for in the 2011-12 season and the payroll is looking to be $42.8 million. Even if we option Augustin, option Henderson and option Ajinca the Bobcats will be between $8 and $9 million under the cap, more than enough to get a very good center via free agency, provided they don’t make any moves sooner.
The Diaw/Chandler for Calderon trade wasn’t all about talent, it was an adjustment of funds that took badly spent money ($9 million on a backup PF) and reallocated them to an area of need ($9 million for a starting PG).
Look further down the road: Say we lock up a very talented center in that $8-$9 million bracket next year… then we have all 5 starting spots locked up, backup PG locked up (Augustin), backup C locked up (Ajinca) and backup SG locked up (Henderson) all the while still having Diop’s contract scheduled to expire… it’s a very, very good position we’re in.

I was concerned about this... but I dug a little deeper
Seems like the injury was a thing of the past and very unlikely to flare up again.
It was a niggling injury to his left hip flexor. A less common injury for a PG, but one that doesn’t normally ‘flare back up’ after treatment.

Until it's final, I dont take any credence to that report.
For example, look at what happened in baseball at the beginning of the weekend. The Yankees appeared to have Cliff Lee under lock, and the trade was only a matter of sementics. Several hours later, Cliff Lee is flying out to his new team: the Texas Rangers.
While I know it’s too vastly different sports, but until things ate finalized, Im not too overly concerned.

It has to be Shaq all the way
I think Shaq has a lot of incentive to come to Charlotte. He will start an get a lot of touches in the offense. He will be with a great passing point guard and good passing guard. He’ll be with one of the best coaches in basketball. The only way I take on Okafor again is for Diop and Nazr.
Fuck the Lakers...Oh sorry the Fakers
It may very well be Shaq
But if it is, we’re getting hosed. Shaq is no longer an NBA quality starting Center and that’s pretty much all we can use.
by Ourdaywillcome on Jul 12, 2010 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions
Shaq also doesn't match the sense of anticipation and excitement I get from my sources.
Five years ago yeah, but not at his present age. That’s the route the Hornets took when they were the new kids in town. Didn’t they have Kurt Rambis and Robert Parrish – both well past their prime and nothing but band-aids until other arrangements could be made. I remember calling the team the Charlotte Hairnets at the time because of the advanced age of some of the players.

And that speaks loudly about his character. With a little more effort he could have worked on his free throws and helped his teams a lot. But it would not have made him more money or more of a star, so why bother? At least that’s the impression I get of the guy.

Sure, he’s nowhere near the same guy he’s been over his career, but he’s still better than half of the starting centers in the league, and would come fairly cheap.

Eh, I'd rather have someone younger.
Shaq isn’t much of a force anymore and is just too old IMO. Plus, he’s almost as injury prone as Chandler. I mean, how many games did he miss last year? If he couldn’t succeed along side LeBron James, I don’t see how he could do very well here. I’d prefer a younger, more athletic guy.

on behalf of tha dirty south: soul food, carolina blue, southern hospitality, and tha queen city
Agreed.
It might put a few asses in the empty seats at the Cable Box, but Shaq and Nazr (with Jawai as the 3rd option) offer us no relief whatsoever and despite Shaq’s willingness to take a small contract for only 2 years, it will delay our move to the next level until at least 2014,

I will say ome thing for Shaq's behalf however,
if there is one place he might be a good fit for, it’s here. In his last two locations, Phoenix and Cleveland, they’ve played at a much higher tempo that doesn’t really suit his old body.
However, here in our offense, the slowest pace in the league, he could almost certainly play better than he ha anywhere else.
That said, I still dont want him.

In recent times he clogs up the lane too much on offense. For a team that relies on slashing to the basket like we go with Jax and G-Force I would be concerned that Shaq would physically get in the way more than he would help.

I figure the face that Chandler broke it to the press that he was a Raptor before it was final might have pissed Jordan off a bit as well

You may be right.
It’s just the sort of thing that would get the press sniffing where they don’t need to be.

Just got a very bizarre email.
They called in 5 people to the Cable Box in one of my guys’ office.
They’re each working on a different “best and worst case” scenario.
He also said they had to leave their cells at the door.
He also said don’t believe a damned thing we hear from the “outlets.” (ESPN, Yahoo, Observer, etc)
There’s a woman there writing press releases and NOTHING else. She’s been told to make it “sound like truth” until they get this all sorted out.

We have to also consider that Jordan is new at this
He’s an ex-athlete negotiating with guys who know business inside and out. He could very well be un a bit over his head.

I'm not getting anything new but the real action isn't in Charlotte.
Apparently there’s an area of one of the hotels called “the Mansion” – some kind of big-roller only private casino within the casino – and the big talks are taking place in there away from the press.

SS’LE: Whataboutbob_cats, how tough was this decision?
WAB: Not difficult at all.
SS’LE: What is your choice?
WAB: This evening – and this is not tough; I’m not sure why I needed this special – I’ll be taking my talents to dreamland.
SS’LE: What a story! Let’s cut to the Internet, where your comments are being flagged by angry ex-supporters.

That's it for me. I'm done.
I’ll probably get up in the morning and find out that ten minutes after I hit the bed all hell broke loose.
Ahh well. Goodnight all.
NBA TV
NBA TV just confirmed that MJ is the one holding up the Toronto trade.
Is he second guessing or someone offer him a better deal??
Thats all i got for the night, been reading but haven’t had time to comment.
See everyone in the morning with a possible new look Bobcats team?
He wants more for Tyson's expiring
More than what was offered
Calderon and all of the trade exception
Calderon and Lopez form Phoenix
Calderon and ?

If somehow Jordan could get rid of Diaw and Diop and get Jose and Reggie Evans
I would go nuts. That would be a fantastic trade for Charlotte.
Jose Calderone
Stack
Crash
TT
Chandler.
Another possibility is that if Jordan is going to include Chandler he wants next years first from Raptors
Fuck the Lakers...Oh sorry the Fakers
WOW
i feel bad i didnt join in tonight…. things seem to be gettin super sketch

I'm glad I went to bed.
I just got up and the newest info I can find is Chandler calling and saying he’s headed to the Raptors. Nothing else around.
There’s so much suspense to all this I feel like a character caught in the middle of a Hitchcock film.
Why couldn’t I be a Clippers fan? That’s more like an Apatow flick!
I also have no updates
My guy left TWC around 4 a.m. and is slated to be back at 8:30 a.m today.
Only thing I can figure is 1 a.m. in Vegas is a reasonable time that owners/GMs would still be up and talking.
My friend had a rough night, so I didn’t bug him for info… just another quick txt message that he was heading home and back to work in the morning.

Much like what Ourday heard last night:
I’ve been told not to trust anything the Charlotte Observer reports in particular, and no information they have today will be 100% accurate.
There is a possibility the national media could find out about what’s going on- but unlikely. If any national media outlet says they have a source inside the Bobcats then it’s not reliable.
It’s possible, but improbable that everything will get sorted out today. So we’re going to have a full day of speculation.
The Bobcats are optimistic that this scenario will work out.

I was not told anything more than that
I know that the plan is to acquire a point guard, but whether that remains Calderon or someone else I’m not sure.
Realistically, it’s unlikely I’ll hear much more today from my guy.
From reading reports from Toronto’s side Brian Colangelo is extremely motivated/desperate to get this deal done with Charlotte, so now I’m wondering how much we can squeeze from them.

To be honest
i wouldn’t touch any of their other PGs… Calderon is the only on e I’d wanting starting for us.

Unless we get derozen
i don’t like their roster much.
Man now I’m getting bummed.. Really thought we had the pieces to get cp3 or Al Jeff and now we might not even get calderon
GSO
The Bobcats can have Calderon if they want him
I would have faith that the Bobcats know what they’re doing with this one.
Realistically, losing Diaw and Chandler’s expiring for Calderon is probably a little steep… especially in a market where we’re seeing All Star players (Jefferson) being traded for nothing.
I suspect (based on nothing, so don’t assume it’s my source) that Al Jefferson was part of a 3 or 4 team trade, even if we didn’t get him directly and maybe a wrench got thrown into it when Utah got involved.

And they do want Calderon
But I think (this is my opinion – not anything inside any office) Jordan got tipped somehow that the Raptors are desperate to make Calderon the main bait and they want what we have more than the other way around. MJ wants more (exception money perhaps?) has time to kill (he’s in Vegas anyway and it’s his kinda town) and can squeeze for a day or so to make the Raptors come up with a counter offer because if they don’t do the Calderon deal other trades Toronto needs will fall apart as well.
The only risk for Jordan is that he might pick up a reputation for playing hardball that could come back to bite him in the bullocks down the road. The owners run a Good Ol’ Boy network and they have long memories if someone doesn’t play nice.
by Ourdaywillcome on Jul 13, 2010 9:55 AM EDT up reply actions
True, but I don't know if Brian Colangelo and the Raptors are part of that club
MJ and Larry Brown have ties across the league, and the Raptors are typically on the outside looking in.
But you are correct, I wonder if the Bobcats will get a rep for typically screwing teams over in trades.
Charlotte are notorious drafters, but if you look at trades in the last few years we’ve pretty much reamed every team who gets involved with us… we always seem to come out on the better side of it.

My only ammendment to James' comments...
They want a point and, if possible, the secondary goal is to free up some money toward a long-term starting center.
CP3 is NOT NOT NOT in the picture. He’s about to have open warfare with the Hornets and demand a trade but the Knicks want him and he has Madison Sq Garden visions dancing in his eyes.

I've heard similar things about Paul
They made inquiries last week, just like a number of teams but it seems impossible that it will happen.

Paul feels like the Hornets lied to him.
He was told they’d make improvements in the off season and they’ve been too busy painting “for sale by owner” signs to do business. Meanwhile, he wants to pull off a Miami Thrice Lite deal and drag Carmello Anthony into the Apple with him to create a second trio. What would we call them? Tri-mehc-a? Or is that too much of a film junkie/Bobbie DeNiro reference?
