Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

Nice look for the cats. Clearly we invested in TT to be our starter, and this gives us room to get a solid point. Plus we have some room in 2011 FA.

I thought

picking up Dominic McGuire was step one? No?

Step one was getting a trade exception

I had listed it as a sign and trade for Felton, but we have that exception now

My sources say there are 4 deals in the pipeline.

This is actually phase 2. Getting Thomas as the starting PF was the first.

No, I can’t be more specific. My sources (which must remain nameless but are within the Bobcats organization) aren’t giving me much right now. I knew about the Diaw deal but was told last Friday that it would be a “cash only” deal with either the Raptors or the Timberwolves. I guess the exception is the NBA version of “cash only.” Sometimes the info I get is specific and sometimes it’s vague. It’s usually accurate about 75% of the time.

I don’t know a lot for certain about what is to come. I do know they had no intention of keeping Felton and they have even less intention to start the season with DJ as our primary option. The worked pretty hard for a couple of days on getting Parker, but that seems to have gotten pushed to the back burner because there are other clubs with more money doing the same. The one thing I’ve been told to use as a yardstick is that Jordan absolutely refuses to spend more money than a deal is worth and if this 4-step process works, we WILL be under the luxury cap – but it’s gonna be close. It’s also been planned so that if the final (and biggest) deal falls apart, we’ll still have options to work something else out.

Once again – and I’ve been saying this for weeks – the Bobcats goals for 2010/11 are:
1. Lose no ground over last season
2. Make improvements where possible
3. Make preparations for a major run deep into the playoffs within the next 3 seasons
4. If the opportunity manifests that will make that happen this season, Jordan will go for it, but not for a one-time flash. The plan is for the team to build upon a foundation to make us contenders for several years – see goal 1.

Dwayne Jones?

82 games…in 5 years total. He only appeared in two games last season. Is he constantly injured, or a 12th man, or…? Something’s definitely up here; he’s listed as a forward-center, and we all know how thin we are at the 5.
