Which players on the Magic do you admire?

So, how 'bout them Orlando Magic? With a 3-0 lead on the Atlanta Hawks, by an average margin of victory of 29 points, the Magic are looking like the team to beat in the East. I'm not saying the Bobcats would have much of a chance against the Hawks, but we could feel better about getting swept.

Conversation starter of the day: Set aside Dwight Howard, Jameer Nelson, and Rashard Lewis. Which player on the Magic would you most want to add to the Cats, and why?

I'm going with Mickael Pietrus. He's a Gerald Wallace-Stephen Jackson wing type on defense and can run the floor and throw it down, but he also adds reasonably efficient three point shooting. As a bonus, Charles Barkley is on record saying MP is his second-favorite player in the NBA.

Pietrus

or…(god help me for saying this) JJ Reddick. I can’t stand the dude. I was highly amused and participated joyously in his collective booing at the Cable Box, but the kid can shoot. With that being said…I want Kyle Korver. Dude’s from Pella, Iowa(big plus in my book). Went to Creighton(big negative in my book), but he works hard and shoots great and would be a great fit for us.

I agree. It has to be J.J.

Dude can shoot lights out and has proven that he’ll be in the nba for a long time.

Pietrus

Love the guy. He has swag on infinity

Orlando is destroying the Hawks

At least the Bobcats were in the games until the end.

The Bobcats would not only have had a chance against the Hawks, but would have beat them and advanced to the second round. The 7th seed killed the Cats. Orlando was the worst possible match-up for the Bobcats.

I’ll agree with Pietrus being the player I’d most like to see on the Bobcats outside of Howard and Nelson.

Uhm, David?

I’m not saying the Bobcats would have much of a chance against the Hawks, but we could feel better about getting swept.

Take just a moment and reread your post. This sentence is utterly random. It doesn’t fit the context of either the article itself or the paragraph it appears in. It’s the comment of someone expecting to get called out and making a defensive disclaimer in advance. Since the sweep it seems a lot of your posts have been peppered with negativity when it comes to the team. I’m not decrying your right to use the bully pulpit to express your opinions, but it looks odd coming from the moderator of a blogsite devoted to fandom of the very team you’re speaking against.

Maybe YOU’RE not saying the Bobcats would have done better against the Hawks, but I sure as hell will. Watching Notlanta roll over into a submissive position throughout the series against the Magic has gotten me thinking. Although swept my Orlando, the Bobcats were at least competitive and made the Magic break a sweat each night. As embarrassing as the sweep may have been, we at least put up a fight – the last five minutes of game 4 notwithstanding. There is EVERY reason to believe that not only would the Bobcats have fared better against the Hawks, it’s quite conceivable that they would have prevailed.

Oh, and as long as the article is a fantasy “what if” scenario, why place limitations on it? My pick IS Dwight Howard. His raw athleticism and obvious passion for the game reminds me of a young Timmy Duncan. Why exclude him from the fantasy?

Nevertheless, I’ll also play by your guidelines and choose Reddick. We don’t need a player that evokes Wallace and Jackson because we already have the real deal. Accept no substitutes. I think that under a coach like Brown, Reddick could maximize his upside and have his bad tendencies corrected before they bloom into permanent habits.

Hell yes Ourday Preace
We gave Dwight Howard hell in that series he averaged 9 points in the series. We at least gave the Magic a Fight. Im not going to apologize for being a Fan I have no problem saying we would Beat the Hawks. We made it hard for Orlando to score we just didnt have enough Offense to win. We lost to one of the 2 Best teams in the NBA. As far as the little Fantasy question I am still hating the Magic too much to blow smoke up there butts

I've been chomping at the bit

for a chance to run some comparative stats WHEN (not if) Orlando completes their 2nd straight series sweep tomorrow. Atlanta’s “performance” against the Magic has shed a whole new light on just how well we actually did against Orlando, which was simply overshadowed by the 4 & out.

But that’s for another day (Tuesday?). Pietrus looks like a cliche pick already, but that’s my guy, too. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a native of France, and could possibly get Diaw to open up a bit more on offense…wishful thinking on my part.

Brandon Bass gets my nod as the sleeper.

I would've been

very much OK with that trade (w/ Redick).

Good post, man

True or not, i appreciate this commentary here on our bobcats blog. Your input on this one topic has been more constructive, intelligent and worth reading than all of the other posts by other Magic fans combined since the playoffs began. I rec’d it.

As for the the trade that didn’t happen. Sounds great for Charlotte. Was there no other Bobcat player involved? Or was that the problem? There was no other Bobcat that the Magic were interested in.

Definitely Pietrus

It seemed like that every time we were making a run at the end he would hit some super improbable while-falling-down 3 pointer that just killed any hope of a victory. I hate him for that, but I have to highly respect the man’s playing ability.

Barnes may be a good addition for the Bobcats

but Pietrus would give the Cats, the French connection with Diaw, Ajinca, & Pietrus

by Ft.Mill Bobcat on May 10, 2010 11:00 PM EDT reply actions

French Connection

With three players, you would officially have to capitalize the “C” in Connection.

Crash & Jax with the French Connection. Oui? Oui?

I agree on two accounts!

1) If i could pick any player form the Magic (other than Nelson, Lewis and Howard) Pietrus is my first choice. The dude is lights out from down-town in the Eastern conference playoffs. He is the reason that this time last year i thought the Magic would beat the Lakers for the crown. His shooting AND his lockdown defensive abilities were not apparent against Kobe and LA in the Finals. It would be a great rematch actually because i think the Magic are going to be hard to stop. But Nash might not give the Lakers that opportunity. (JJ is my second choice.)

2) I agree with ODWC! David is a negative Nancy. I’ll say it too, Our Day: The Bobcats would TOTALLY kick “Notlanta’s” (nice) ass. The ‘cats were a couple possessions behind and in a position to win in the late stages of all 4 games. The Hawks aren’t even pretending to put up a fight. And i have no doubt that the Bobcats would have one every game at the Cable Box against ATL in the playoffs. And little doubt that that they would have stole one of the 1st two in ATL as well.
