Sources say Sixers waiting for Brown
More out of Philly on the Larry Brown sitch. I wouldn't blame him for moving back there and taking over the basketball operations. It's all the power without the day to day haggles of coaching. The Pat Riley role, if you will. Doesn't look like much is new, except the implication that the Sixers' GM might not have full authority over the search for new leadership figures, because the search might actually be for his replacement.
According to multiple sources, the 76ers will almost certainly contact coach Larry Brown after the Charlotte Bobcats are eliminated from the playoffs.
The Sixers will likely discuss their coaching vacancy with Brown, who this season led the Bobcats to their first-ever playoff appearance, but it's possible that the Sixers also could discuss a front-office position, according to the same sources.

This stuff is really becoming annoying with the playoffs going on.
The Sixers are full of s*** right now. But f it, if Larry wants to go, let him. I haven’t been too pleased with his game planning this series, and although I’d like him to return, I wouldn’t be as opposed to him leaving now. Obviously, him and Philly have some kind of secret love affair going on. I’m confident in our roster being able to get us back to the playoffs. Plus, we’ll still have M.J. to maybe keep his promise and pursue players that are going to take us to a higher level. He’ll also have the inside track on hiring a lot of well known coaches to replace Larry.

What does Philly have to offer besides Jrue Holiday and one of Elton Brand's knees?
Oh yeah, and Iggy.

Maybe the opportunity at being a GM or being closer to his family.
I honestly don’t why he just can’t move their asses to Charlotte with him for a year or two. Hell, it ain’t like he ain’t the one financially supporting the family. They should have to relocate wherever he goes, not the other way around.

He and his family love Philly
I think he would only consider the job for that reason. Sooner or later the guy needs to settle down and put down roots, don’t ya think?

80 seems a good age to do that, no?

He has been in enough different cities
he may be a polygamist.

But yeah, he better take the GM role up there or nothing at all.
He’s restored his coaching legacy in Charlotte and it’ll probably be damaged again with that Philly roster. But, I don’t know, maybe he could work that out too.

Annoying is an understatement.
Larry has repeatedly laughed off the talk of going to Philly and bluntly stated he feels grateful to Jordan for hiring him at a time when no one else would.
But just for the hell of it (and accepting Brown’s nomadic history) let’s look at what happens if Brown opts out and heads to Philly.
First, let’s look at the impact on the 76ers. The most important thing is that I don’t give a fresh skunk turd what happens to Philly. The Bobcats are my team and that’s all I have to say on the matter.
Now that THAT’S been given the proper amount of research and devotion, on to the effect on the Bobcats.
Let’s face it. Brown builds teams uniquely suited to his philosophy of basketball. New coach, new philosophy. If we bring in someone that favors a run and gun game plan or anything else that doesn’t involve the methodical halfcourt style it’s going to instantly be rebuilding time. Any coach that can come in and rebuild without any money under the cap, no draft options, and a suddenly large and demanding fanbase watching his every move is a better man than I. The team will almost certainly take a large step backwards instead of making the small gains most of us expect it to under Brown.
There would be a couple of positives to be had in the mess. DJ will probably evolve rapidly once he’s freed of the constant pressure of the Brown system and Boris and Graham in particular will also benefit from a freer offense, but that’s about it. One thing’s for sure, we’ll find out once and for all if our investment in Henderson and Derr-Devil was worth it.
Jackson has played under several coaching mindsets so he’ll likely be the quickest to adapt and shine. (Remember when he came on board and we all figured he’d be long gone at the end of the season?) Wallace is well… indestructable.
The biggest problem any coach for this team is going to have – and that includes Brown as well – is finding some way to deal with that damned revolving door at the 5. The situation isn’t going to get any better either. We really have no way to improve the team further without unloading some of our bad contracts and almost all of them are at the center position. I think it’s highly unlikely that the combination that will play the position tonight will be the one’s playing come October and predicting which way the chips will fall is almost impossible right now becuase the variables are all over the map.
One fearful thing to think about…
Michael Jordan’s number one belief has always been that he can do anything he wants and do it better than anyone else on earth. Flailing in futility at curve balls and sinkers didn’t cure him of it so I don’t think anything can. Am I the only one worried that if Larry leaves town our man Michael could very well decide that he’s just the man to coach his team to a championship bid? Sure it would mean he’d be at every single game, but do we really want Jordan telling old war stories to Henderson when we need someone with their head in the actual courtside action?

Here is a link to a Philly newspaper where Brown continues to say the story is BullShit
The Philly press sees all the NBA playoff news lately and want of piece of the action, so they rehash some old incorrect rumors. There is really nothing else about the 76ers at this point that anyone in Philly wants to read about.
Not to mention they just gave Eddie Jordan the heave-ho with a quickness.
Seemed a little unfair to be honest. He was there only one season correct?

I think that firing a coach after 1 year is just ridiculous. They haven't even had a chance to show what they really have to offer
and IMO the coach isn’t really the main problem if the team is horrible.
Lets go Bobcats. 2010 Playoffs!
If it's a front office offer, then he'll probably go
Let’s face it. Given LB’s age, list of accomplishments and his family situation, if an offer does exist for a Sixers front office position then he will probably take it. He’s got history with the team and the city and it would be a nice transition for him after so many years of coaching. Let’s face it guys, coaching is a pretty intense job, especially in the NBA and especially given LB’s age. I won’t be offended if he leaves, although it will irk me if he leaves to just coach the Sixers.
Personally, I hope he stays next season. The Philly media and the internet need to cut this crap out. I mean geez at least wait till the playoffs and the season is over.
