Around SBN: Bracketology 2012: Duke Finally Steps Up To The No. 1 Line

2nd half thread

The bad news? We scored 30 points in the first half. The good news? The Magic only scored 41 points, and Dwight Howard is in foul trouble.

I seriously hope the Cats do better than frisbee-retrieving dogs for our playoff games' halftime shows.

I usually like the tnt crew but they were talking about geralds stats etc and why that doesnt make him a superstar, but they must be blind to orlando because dwight howard has done nothing this series on the offensive end, yet he’s a "superstar"

by MikeTrain on Apr 21, 2010 8:27 PM EDT reply actions

Personally I think the term ‘superstar’ is thrown around too much anyway.

I truly believe there are only a handful of guys who are true superstars, and as much as I love Gerald Wallace he’s not one of them

I agree, but why ignore how dwight is not scoring at all (due to the bobcats playing him very well)

by MikeTrain on Apr 21, 2010 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions

They would probably justify it because of his fouls- it’s not a good justification, but it is what it is

probably

to make up for the other rediculous calls the magic had go there way

weve had three bad calls go our way… the theo “charge” called as a block on anderson, the tyrus flop and that dwight “foul”

by adamcawa on Apr 21, 2010 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions

smith's own qualifications

dictate that wallace is a star… because he included tempo into one of the three things someone must have and when wallace comes in the tempo and tone of the game changes entirely

but no, i dont think gerald wallace is a “superstar”… an all star caliber player but not a superstar

by adamcawa on Apr 21, 2010 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Not to mention leadership.

Gerald’s got 4/5 on Kenny’s list.

Howard’s only got one.

These refs are baptizing the bobcats with fire. Hot damn i have never seen such horrible refs in my life.Does it have anything to do with the fact that the cats have one of the lowest viewership ratings of all the playoff teams that they dont want to see an underdog succeed in the playoffs? This was supposed to be the best playoffs ever

by Brian 32 on Apr 21, 2010 8:28 PM EDT reply actions

The first half was just random. Spin the wheel and call a foul.

Gotta put Vince Carter on the line.
Gotta get Tyrus back after his bad acting after he was really fouled.
No last second shot for Tyson. Not sure why the took that one back.

Maybe everything tonight was perceived make-up calls for past transgressions.

good no call

on the defense by theo…

by adamcawa on Apr 21, 2010 8:36 PM EDT reply actions

Both teams shooting 36% FG

3 Pt Line – Us 40%, Orlando 29%
FTs 67% vs. 68%
6 more turnovers, 3 fewer rebounds, and 10 fewer FTs.
That the difference.

uhm... studying for a random drug test?

It’s an LB move. We’ll live by it or die by it.
The bigger question is why is Hughes wearing a Bobcats uniform? He’s doing more for the Magic than he is for us.

by Ourdaywillcome on Apr 21, 2010 8:52 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't understand what's going on

Howard is out of the game and the Magic have increased their lead. The Bobcats aren’t doing something right.

So, the Bobcats have 19 points so far this quarter

Their highest scoring quarter of the game thus far. Too bad the Magic have 24 this quarter, also their highest scoring.

by Stevarino on Apr 21, 2010 8:58 PM EDT reply actions

ugh

this isn’t looking too good

by Roger, Roger on Apr 21, 2010 8:58 PM EDT reply actions

OK, let's get motivated

We have all the great pics, I would think that would lead directly to a run from the ’Cats.

by Stevarino on Apr 21, 2010 8:59 PM EDT reply actions

We're still so timid

More so than in game 1. At what point do the “playoff jitters” subside, and they just play the game they’ve thriving in for 20+ years? Seriously, Orlando hasn’t even skipped a beat with Howard on the bench.

by Newsinz on Apr 21, 2010 9:02 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe the Magic have better offensive flow with Howard out

The ball doesn’t get stuck in the post where there’s almost always a double team and little ball movement. Orlando seems to be more free-flowing and attacking.

by Stevarino on Apr 21, 2010 9:04 PM EDT reply actions

Also...

with Howard out, Charlotte atill never really tried to attack the rim. They continued to play as if he was still in the game.

by Stevarino on Apr 21, 2010 9:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm going to call this now.

The referees were absurd in the first half, but ultimately the Bobcats are defeating themselves. When they clamp down on defense they can’t score, when they focus on offense they can match baskets but can’t get stops on the other end.

Basketball is about both. Doing one or the other is the same as doing neither.

by Ourdaywillcome on Apr 21, 2010 9:05 PM EDT reply actions

Wow...

I thought we were better than this…

by andrewlail76 on Apr 21, 2010 9:07 PM EDT reply actions

We are. And so are the Magic.

Neither team is playing at the top of their form. But the Magic are more focused and are executing better.

by Ourdaywillcome on Apr 21, 2010 9:08 PM EDT up reply actions

So we've hung them up I guess

Done for the night…ready to go home…

by andrewlail76 on Apr 21, 2010 9:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Not so fast...

G-Force still seems to be on a mission, which is completely expected.

by Stevarino on Apr 21, 2010 9:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Wallace will never quit.

He’s waiting too long for this. I was hoping Felton would be in the same zone, though.

by Newsinz on Apr 21, 2010 9:12 PM EDT up reply actions

To bad he had to sit considerable minutes in the second quarter.

I hate when this happens: Wallace picks up his second foul in the second quarter and Brown sits him. How many fouls does Wallace have since picking up his second? None.

by Stevarino on Apr 21, 2010 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Thse playoffs have been overhypeed i was led to believe that there would be an entertaining round one filled with close games, teams duking it out with flair and attiude, and the refs swallowing their whistles to allow some dirty physical play. Now, has anyone seen that yet so far?

by Brian 32 on Apr 21, 2010 9:08 PM EDT reply actions

We need one more basket.

That way we’ll at least beat our score from the season opener and can pretend it means progress.

by Ourdaywillcome on Apr 21, 2010 9:11 PM EDT reply actions

They're finally playing the right way in this game

Drive and draw a foul, drive and score, drive and draw a foul…..I just hope its not too late.

by Stevarino on Apr 21, 2010 9:13 PM EDT reply actions

I'll never understand the charge rule

feet on the line? Feet completely in the line? Whenever the refs feel like it?

by Newsinz on Apr 21, 2010 9:14 PM EDT reply actions

Chandler catches a decent lob pass

and lands with it. LMAO! AT least he scored moments later.

by Newsinz on Apr 21, 2010 9:15 PM EDT reply actions

So Carter decks Wallace and then looks down at him and laughs in his face?

Orlando was at least civilized in game one (apart from a notable slug to the back of Crash’s head) but they are playing dirty as hell now. A minute or so ago Howard threw an elbow into Crashes ribs before the ball was even passed to him.

I will be at the game – we got a seat upgrade so I won’t be in the spot I originally said we’d be in. We’re going to be in the executive suite. Look for me there if you’re in the house. PLEASE don’t ask me how or why we’re upgraded.

I’m not giving up on our Bobcats yet and I plan on leaving every bit of my voice behind when I leave Time Warner on Saturday.

Win or lose, the team will be where not one pundit said they could possibly be on Saturday. They may be fighting for their playoff lives, but there’s nothing for this team to be ashamed of because at least they are in the fight in the first place.
