Open Gameday Thread Charlotte Bobcats vs. Miami Heat
Miami Heat at Charlotte Bobcats, Mar 9, 2010 7:00 PM EST
TV: Fox Sports Carolinas
Radio: 610 AM
SB Nation Heat Blog: Peninsula Is Mightier
Crazy thought: if the Bobcats make the playoffs, will they ask everyone to wear orange to the home games? The Heat have been successful getting everyone to wear white, but that can look cool on its own. It's extremely difficult to look cool with orange pants and an orange top.

I will state before we even get to the tipoff...
That I’m still more optimistic than David about our playoff chances. I’m still eyeing at least the 6 seed. But this one game tonight is going to speak volumes about our chances. If they come out even the slightest bit sluggish or fall into the bad habits they’ve had lately (settling for outside shots instead of penetrating) we’re going to lose this game.
I also think that if they don’t bring it and bring it large tonight they lack the intensity a playoff-bound team needs in the last 25 games and we’ve run out of games where we can afford to lose.
We’ve at least run out of games we can lose that we SHOULD win. Each and every loss against a team we should beat means we have to steal one from a team that’s much better than we are – or worse – a game we’ll need to take on the road. (GULP!)
One game won't make or break us.
I am sure Miami is pumped for this one also. Especially since we beat them twice in a bad way.
by Ft.Mill Bobcat on Mar 9, 2010 7:16 PM EST up reply actions
Sure it will.
It’s a question of attitude. One game in November won’t kill us. But once you get in to March each and every game becomes a make-or-break situation. We’re poorly positioned at present because of our relatively bad February. We now have to drive IN to playoff contention instead of being in a higher seed. Look at the end of our schedule. We have 6 back to backs in there, more are home/away or both games are road games. Looking at our road record, one single loss at home could spell the difference for the entire season at this point. Each home loss now is one we have to make up somewhere else on the schedule. Either that or we have to pray that teams in front of us collapse worse than we do.
Playoff teams are INTENSELY focused for each and every game from here on out. If we come out playing with a half-assed focus we’re going to get eaten alive.

I agree we need a win big time
but we can still survive if we don’t. Chicago will fall out of this race.

I'm here, but only for a minute.
Also, to answer David Arnott’s question: See a Syracuse Home Game, and no we shouldn’t do that.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
I was the first to correctly answer David's photo game
but he gave the 500 RoF points to someone else.
I was going to buy season tickets or maybe a 5 bucks box with the proceeds

Richardson is only a three pointer shooter at this point in his career
Wallace needs to body him up. QR won’t score again if that happens.

Yes indeed
We should all take a moment of silent sorrow for the recent collapse of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Okay
That’slongenough!
Mwu ha ha ha ha!!!!
by Ourdaywillcome on Mar 9, 2010 7:24 PM EST up reply actions
The key word is "IN' to Wallace.
We should NOT be using Wallace for treys in the corner this early on.
by Ourdaywillcome on Mar 9, 2010 7:28 PM EST up reply actions
This game should be like the first 2 Miami games.
If we can stay close for the first half, we’ll start to runa way from them in the 4th quarter.
Wade is on fire
Jackson has got to put a hand in his face…or at least start hitting some shots.

As long as he keeps up the nice alley-oops
by Ft.Mill Bobcat on Mar 9, 2010 7:43 PM EST up reply actions
This is not looking good.
Set plays are disappearing fast. We’re playing street ball insted of using the passing and the rotations. Bad news. Our set offense is what keeps the rebounds short so we can get back on D and prevent the fast breaks in transition.
We don't do well against those loose zones.
Which is weird, because you beat the zones by playing the LB style of quick passing and setting screens.
by Ourdaywillcome on Mar 9, 2010 7:48 PM EST up reply actions
it seems like all season they've struggled setting decent screens
by OldschoolBlue on Mar 9, 2010 7:51 PM EST up reply actions
or maybe its the guards rubbing off the screens correctly
by OldschoolBlue on Mar 9, 2010 7:52 PM EST up reply actions
That may be why Henderson rode the bench so long.
Larry told him we needed a solid pick and then caught him with his finger up his nose.

Have faith.
Opening day may be the closest the Panthers get to first place all season. Enjoy it while you can.
by Ourdaywillcome on Mar 9, 2010 7:54 PM EST up reply actions
fingers crossed the saints D falls apart again, tampa stays tampa and the panthers can gut out a wild card
by OldschoolBlue on Mar 9, 2010 7:55 PM EST up reply actions
This is a conversation for another blog
But what the hell are the panthers doing this offseason besides nothing?
I think...
they’re hoping the Bobcats fall apart completely so they won’t be the only Charlotte team sucking butt.

Lately...
Crash has picked it up big time in the second half of games so hopefully that trend continues tonight.
well...
when i got the first quarter text, we were down by 20ish.
so i guess i can be content with this current deficit (12). seems doable.

Within 10 at the half
As crappy as the ‘Cats have played and as good as the Heat have played, I’m not totally disappointed with being down by 9.
If we don't win tonight the night's a total loss.
Earlier I had an Elvis burger for dinner.
Ever had one?
It’s the kind of burger where you eat it and 2 hours later you sit on the toilet and die.
Can't say I have ever had an Elvis burger
but I know the feeling

Only thing worse is all you can eat Chinese buffets.
Last time I hit one of those I ate so much that I crapped a rickshaw.

This Coke commercial stinks.

OHHHH!
I thought that was the original cast of Saturday Night live – at least what they’d look like today. You mean that isn’t Garret Morris and Chevy Chase in the back?
by Ourdaywillcome on Mar 9, 2010 8:22 PM EST up reply actions
I'd comment on the game instead of the ads
but with only one team playing so far, it isn’t what I’d call a game.
Looked like a Tyrus move

I think Theo will be with us next season.
My only proof is a phone call the Bobcats made to the Charlotte airport inquiring whether or not walkers are considered carry-on or if they have to go in with the luggage.

True story...
My wife has been wanting to clean out our hall closet for weeks. She’s decided to work on it while I’m watching the game. She just came in the door with 4 bags full of crap. I asked her what it all was and she said, “It’s so I can make some room in that closet of course.”
Of course?
Why is it men make room by throwing crap away but women think they make room buy going out and buying MORE?
You need a Closet Organizer
Try this link. No doubt it will solve your problem

That was beautiful
I don’t really like Felton taking threes but that was some of the best ball movement I’ve seen all season
maybe beasley made a dumbass comment again
by OldschoolBlue on Mar 9, 2010 8:42 PM EST up reply actions
Did Jax Make love to a timeout or something?
I saw the score and debated as to whether or not to comment…
Seriously
That way, Wade will be unhappy and he’ll move to a bigger market and the NBA makes more money
Refs don't like JAX
but the refs were afraid with the home crowd backing him.
by Ft.Mill Bobcat on Mar 9, 2010 8:46 PM EST up reply actions
he should pass it within 2 seconds
but instead he tries to iso
by OldschoolBlue on Mar 9, 2010 8:54 PM EST up reply actions
Uh huh
I hate all the head fakes and sweeping the ball across his body and then trying to play a one-on-one game with someone much better than him.
yea like he's proving that he deserves to be out there
he tries hard i guess LB appreciates that but c’mon
by OldschoolBlue on Mar 9, 2010 8:56 PM EST up reply actions
Quick question...
Does an offensive foul count as a turnover and a personal foul for the player that commited the foul? Or, is it recorded in the boxscore as just a personal foul?
offensive foul = boxscore personal foul

There’s really no other reason Brown should give him playing time.

Wallace hasn't scored much
But he’s got 15 boards so far…too bad no one else on the team has more than 5.
sooooo
i check back in after a shower, dinner, and checking my facebook, and i see that the Cats are now down 2.
