Gameday Preview Charlotte Bobcats at Indiana Pacers
Pump Up Music: Soul Coughing -- "Circles"
The Big Picture: The Indiana Pacers season this year is encapsulated in two different stories. First, there was the T.J. Ford trade deadline fiasco, in which it appeared the Pacers were going to deal him to the Bobcats, but the deal was scuttled at the last minute. But it became an especially awkward situation when it was revealed Ford was literally dancing outside the team plane at the prospect of getting traded. Too bad he's out with a groin injury now.
For his part, Mike Dunleavy is questionable for tonight's game. That's not too unusual, given the bevy of injuries he's had to deal with the past year, but what is unusual is why he might be out for this particular game. It seems that during warm ups on Sunday, someone's shot came up short, hit the rim at just the right angle, and smashed Dunleavy in the eye.
In the end, this is another team the Cats should outclass on talent alone, but the Pacers do have Danny Granger and Troy Murphy, who can each catch fire and make life miserable for the opposition. Of course, Indiana is also in the bottom half of the league at defending at-rim shots, while the Cats are second in the league in at-rim attempts per game (Indy's mediocre to bad at defending all types of shots, actually).
Key to Victory: Stephen Jackson must ignore the boos (he will) and lock down on Granger. Once that's accomplished, everything else falls into place, because no one else on the team is going to create his own shot, and when Earl Watson and A.J. Price are sharing the point guard load, everyone's got to create their own shots.
Detail That May Interest .08% of You: Josh McRoberts (yes, really, that's him) has started 2 games for the Pacers this year.

Nice obscure music selection, David.
You have a knack for posting songs that really take me back. Soul Coughing’s El Oso was an extremely popular album among certain circles of my friends. You should moonlight as a radio DJ or something.
This would be a perfect opportunity for you to implement the Two for Tuesday idea, no?
Speaking of dj
David, have you ever heard of/listened to DJ Shadow? He’s from San Fran and he’s definitely one of my favorite musicians
Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is.

I’m aware of DJ Shadow, though I’m not familiar with his stuff off the top of my head.
In a previous professional life, I worked in the radio industry. In college, in addition to sports talk, I hosted a country music show. 6am. Friday mornings. Internet-only. The perfect excuse to pull all-nighters on Thursdays.

I had no idea you worked radio David
In one of my former lives (while a musician in Boston back in the late 70s) I worked at WBCN in Boston. I spent very little time on air though. I primarily wrote content and music satire for the jocks. Most of it was for the morning show (The Big Matress) and my partner there moved out to Cali and became a pretty successful voice-over artist. He even scored some of Mel Blanc’s old character voices in Space Jam. Small world.

DJ Shadow is a genius
But ignore his latest output (particularly The Outsider from a couple years ago). He’s gotten into all that Hyphy crap with E-40 and Mistah Fab. Garbage.
Endtroducing = one of the best albums of all time in any genre.
Preemptive strike is a good but doesn’t flow as well because it’s mostly B-Sides and remixes (see What Does Your Soul Look Like Pt I-IV. Brilliant. Have these on vinyl and play them regularly).
The Private Press is also good, but doesn’t flow as well and doesn’t have as strong a mood as Endtroducing.
I liked Preemptive Strike, but it doesn't come close to the masterpiece that is Endtroducing
