Bobcats Top Grizzlies 93-89

Gerald Wallace hasn't been playing up to his lofty standards in recent games, but this time out, the Bobcats were still able to defeat the Grizzlies in Memphis, 93-89. Crash played more than 40 minutes again, but only ended up with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Might those minutes finally be catching up to him? Stephen Jackson and Boris Diaw picked up some of the slack, and Tyrus Thomas continued his solid play off the bench since coming to Charlotte, picking up the rest of the team.

BAD

-- At a certain point, someone has to acknowledge that D.J. Augustin is not a good player when asked to play the way the Bobcats have been asking him to play. Let him be himself instead of pushing him to fit some sort of point guard model in Larry Brown's head.

-- Cut Stephen Graham. Free Gerald Henderson.

-- Raymond, don't shoot 12 times in a game. If you do that, you're not properly containing yourself, which is the key to your success this season.

GOOD

-- Stephen Jackson's gunning wasn't exactly the sweetest thing to see, but he did pour in 32 points -- on 25 shots -- and, most impressively, pulled down 11 boards.

-- Boris Diaw scored 18 points on 7-12 shooting.

-- Tyrus Thomas continues to impress, scoring 13 points on 6-7 shooting in his 22 minutes. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and swatted 3 shots. How soon until LB gives him a courtesy start?

Personally,,

I thought Crash played pretty good the past 2 to 3 games. I think tonight was a bit of a downer for him, but the previous 2-3 games he has played well, IMO.

New Owner = Michael Jordan

Great News for Charlotte and the NBA!
The sky is the limit with MJ and LB at the helm.

like the ownership was what was limiting the team.

Now what do we do at back-up Point Guard

DJ has been horrible. 2 for 24, few assists, not much ability on defense.

by Ft.Mill Bobcat on Feb 27, 2010 9:27 AM EST reply actions

Larry Brown has to let D.J. be himself and quite trying to make him into a "Larry Brown Point Guard."

Unfortunately, this will most likely involve a time machine and an injured Raja Bell being the only other guard on the roster, thus allowing D.J. to play at the 2 alongside Felton.

O.K. we need some more good excuses for D.J.’s crap year.

1) D.J. has the curious Benjamin Button disease and has regressed to the body of a 13 year old.

2) D.J. just broke up w/ his girlfriend just before the season and has spent the majority of his time since then chasing women. This actually happened to a friend of mine and he almost failed out of school.

3) When D.J. was a child he was granted a wish from a genie (Kazaam). He wished to make it to the NBA but forgot to wish to be good or last longer than his rookie contract.

4) D.J.‘s small and not very strong….Nah. That’s too far fetched.

Come on people, what do you got? The person who comes up w/ the best, most creative excuse for D.J.’s down year wins a prize.*

*prize to be determined by David.

DJ is actually Chris Wasburn

Packed into a small costume. The bad play is a result of him not being able to move in said costume.

That and the horrible withdrawls from no drugs…

i argue that DJ reached his celing last year

if you look at the future NBA Point Guard, its having guys that are able to score whenever they want too (Reke, Rose, and Jennings) as well as having substantial size (note that Reke is 6-3ish)

for DJ to prove himself to be effective as a NBA PG, he needs to cast himself into an Allen Iverson mold.
or even Earl Boykins (back in the day)

scratch that. he needs to be Mugsy.

I don't hear those Damon Stoudamire comparisons anymore

Apparently, DJ is close friends with Kevin Durant. I hope Durant talks to DJ about getting his confidence up and playing loose. Hopefully, Augustin can post up Barea on Monday and own him in the post. Doing so should do wonders for his confidence and it would be pretty hilarious.
