Design a Dunk for Gerald, Win Prize

13 February 2010

Undisclosed Location, Dallas, TX

Gerald Wallace: Thanks for taking the time to help me out with the dunk contest.

Ronald Murray: No problem. Anything for my boy. So, what are you planning?

Crash: Well, see, uh, that's why I asked you to come here.

Flip: You don't have any ideas, do you?

Crash: Absolutely stumped. It's not like I can ask Oden to try to block my shot while I do a one-handed alley-oop.

Flip: You can't?

Crash: No. I can't.

Flip: If only there was a group of passionate Bobcats fans who would be more than willing to come up with ideas to help you win the dunk contest. You think there's one out there? Maybe on the internet?

===

Help Gerald win the dunk contest by designing your own dunk for him and posting it in the comments. The best dunk, in my sole opinion, will win a prize: a Raymond Felton t-shirt jersey. (Size XL, orange, lightly worn. Received from a friend who lost a bunch of weight and it's too big on him now. Believe me, it's a sweet shirt, and I was tempted to keep it for myself.)

Here are your guidelines:

Star-divide

1 -- Videos and graphics are best, though not mandatory. Shoot a video of yourself performing the dunk in your living room, upload to YouTube, and post the link. Draw step by step instructions with stick figures, host it on Flickr, and post the image.

2 -- Regardless of how you show the dunk, give it a name, and provide at least a sentence or two describing it. It can be Gerald by himself, with Flip's assistance, and with props, but it must be at least faintly realistic. Here's your limit: Gerald will not be doing a front-flip dunk. He just won't. Suggesting that won't win the contest.

3 -- You have until 6pm tomorrow, February 13, to post your dunk.

4 -- This contest is in no way sponsored by Gerald Wallace, Raymond Felton, or the Bobcats. I'm just doing it to see what kind of creativity RoF readers can unleash on us.

(UPDATE: I missed it until now, but Bobcats Baseline has some ideas for Gerald's dunks, too.)

OK...I call it the "Baseline Flight"

Gerald is so explosive…Here is my thought…everyone has seen the foul line dunk, and some of gerald’s best alley oops are baseline dunks…

I actually thought of this watching the dunk contest last night…

I want him to get some running room…mark the foul line equivalent from the goal…baseline…basically a gliding dunk baseline…with a takeoff point 15 feet from the rim…With where this is taking place, this should be easy to get the running room…it has never been done, and Gerald made the Foul line dunk easily the last time…just this time he would be coming baseline…and it will look even more awesome coming from baseline…

Original…check

Visually appealing…check

Will he have time to practice it…give me his phone number and I’ll call him and tell him…
Even better, I’ll drive down and tell him today if someone can get me to him.

I was actually hoping this would get asked on here. This is a sure fire winner…

Funny that this was actually asked on here.

Please don’t laugh too much…

Just an FYI guys...

I got 2 replies
Michael Thompson said he would do his best to get it to Gerald…

BJ Evans said the following:

“Thanks…I shared with Gerald, he chuckled!

So…maybe…MAYBE???

Man that's the winner.

You get extra points for nearly tripping your kid. Must be off for the D-League All Star Break.

He’s home for the break…
We’re waiting on the plane tickets to get here so we can fly on out to TX

HAHA

Isn’t the D-League All Star game tonight?

by maverick24 on Feb 12, 2010 11:31 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah...

He didn’t make the All- Star team this year…that’s why I have him outside shoing him how to dunk and what not…

That is plan B if he tickets don’t get here…

probably won't be able to upload anything

but imma describe it anyway. It’s called the “Boosh And/Or Kakow!”

Gerald does a back flip on the court. Lands it and proceeds to spring board backwards into the air. Catching an alley-oop reverse slam where the basket explodes and Gerald goes Predator invisible on us. In the words of the great Peter Griffin “freakin sweet”.

It’s difficult because he’d never actually be facing the basket. He’d start out turned away from it. Therefore it’s intense. Plus he’d have to launch from a flat footed position going backward. Then he’d have to trigger a claymore mine on the backboard without getting hit by shrapnel and become invisible. Seriously? could “Superman” do this? Not a chance.

oh

and there is no way you’re going to tell me that isn’t freakin awesome. Because it packs loads of awesome all around.

nah dude it's a good idea

seriously. with the exception of the explosions and invisible, my dunk is “possible” but i really don’t want Gerald to hurt himself with the back flip thing or hit his head on the rim. it would be sick though. hehehe

Maybe I'm overestimating Crash's airtime but here goes

behind the back pass a la Shawn Kemp (see 1:24 into this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KSevqDFkh4). Then between the legs dunk. That’s it. I call it “G-Force’s Happy Funtime Jam-apalooza”

Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is.

Add on to the 15 baseline jam...

I would like to see him do this, but dunk on the reverse side of the hoop.

We have seen free throw line dunks a million times, this would basically up the ante.

No reason to name it.

To cover the distance...

Wouldn’t he hit his head on the rim?
And he’d have to glide way more than 15 feet…and it may be interpreted as just a reverse…

just my.02 because I was thinking the same thing…

I had even thought windmill…but 15ft is a long way to glide…

It is The Predator though...

so he could probably pull off damn near everything we name

Changed my mind

I would like to see Stephen Jackson shoot the ball of his head like William Tell, the ball flies through the air deflated, and Wallace catches/dunks like an alley oop.

Then JAX gets on his knees to pray and Wallace comes over and forgives him for his sins, then Wallace autographs the praying hands.gun tattoo on Jax’s belly
