Bobcats Survive T-Wolves, 93-92
The Bobcats jumped out to a 13 point lead by the end of the first quarter against the Timberwolves tonight. They would need every one of those points to hold off Minnesota in the end, as Charlotte only scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, but still came away with a 93-92 win.
Raymond Felton sat out with a bum ankle, leaving D.J. Augustin to play most of those minutes in his stead, and Gerald Wallace had one of his worst shooting nights of the season, but others stepped up to replace that lost production. The story of the game: just enough.
The only guy who went well above and beyond "just enough" was Nazr Mohammed. More details after the jump.
GAME THREAD COMMENTSWhatAboutBob_cats -- I see VANILLA ICE at other arenas doing the halftime shows, and not at the Cable Box? Come on.
dudemanhey -- Its official. I’m buying a Mohammed jersey!
BAD
-- Gerald Wallace shot 1-9 from the field and ended up with only 5 points. It's a testament to his awesomeness, though, that he still made positive contributions, with 9 rebounds.
-- 12-18 from the free throw line is pretty bad. Good thing the Timberwolves shot 5-9.
-- No Derrick Brown at all? No Gerald Henderson at all?
GOOD
-- Nazr Mohammed scored 21 points on 14 shots, including a dunk with 5.3 seconds remaining that put the Cats on top for good. He also pulled down 20 rebounds, continuing an improbably beastly streak of great play this season. Most importantly, he logged 40 minutes, allowing Tyson Chandler to continue easing his way back into the lineup.
-- Stephen Jackson poured in 33 points on 21 shots. Going 4-6 from three will usually go a long way to opening up the paint for the bigs.
-- Boris Diaw got 3 blocks!
-- If Felton is out for an extended period, the Bobcats won't trade Augustin. He's perfectly capable of running the offense, and you take what he brings on that end of the floor and live with the defense, because he's probably a better option than running Flip out there at nominal point and having him share point duties with Jax and Diaw. That's not to say trading him is the wrong move, but that I think it's been made abundantly clear over the past year and a half that Augustin can play guard in this league -- even if it's not exactly the style Larry Brown wants.

Law did nothing with his minutes
I thought he would show LB and the fan base that he could contribute. I am glad the Cats won this one. Good teams get lucky every once in awhile. Time for them to rest up and get ready for the Nets.

At least Law didn't screw up
He filled a need with Ray out and let the other players do their jobs

HAHAHA you mean his 4 minutes?
Yea Law really showed us everything we need to know in only 4 minutes of basketball. Not because you can normally judge player performance in 4 minutes of basketball, but because we’re all just that good.
has there ever been another center that had a career year in his mid-30s?

Awesome Nazr
What a guy. I’m so glad for him, especially after how we basically neglected him last season.
What a game and what a season for him. Awesome.
Nazr had the 2nd best stat line of the night in the NBA
Stephen Curry: 36 pts, 10 rebs, 13 assists, 3 stls
All right! Back on the comments of the game.... just like Boris showed up tonight
Thanks to David, and all the RoF participants, and my family, and Vanilla Ice, and Gerald Wallace, and Nasty Naz. Props to all the folks back in the 704!
Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is.
Also, a link for retrospect and to look back on Nazr's hard work
