Gameday Preview Charlotte Bobcats at Portland Trail Blazers

Pump Up Music: Everclear -- "Santa Monica"

The Big Picture: Andre Miller scored 52 points against the Mavs Saturday night, and did it taking only one three point attempt. That's not going to happen again, but in Brandon Roy's absence, Miller suddenly becomes a little more whole in the Trail Blazers' general construct.

Star-divide

Even though the Cats have played a little quicker of late, they pick their spots and are still very slow-paced overall. The Blazers are the slowest pace team in the league, so don't be surprised to see an 83-80 type game. That might be a good thing for the Blazers, though, since they're dealing with a big man crisis. After losing Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla to injury. Juwan Howard(!) has been starting alongside LaMarcus Aldridge, and both Dante Cunningham and Jeff Pendergraph are getting minutes in the front court. We've gone through sturm und drang over our centers, but that's some crazy scrambling.

Key to Victory: Brandon Roy is not expected to play tonight, which is a major plus for the Bobcats because that leaves the Blazers with an unenviable set of choices. If the Cats keep Stephen Jackson at the two for most of the night, staying with a tall lineup, the Blazers will have to sit two of Miller, Steve Blake, and Jerryd Bayless just to keep Jax from posting up their man all night.

Detail That May Interest .08% of You: Portland's Lewis & Clark College is the alma mater of the Official Father of Rufus on Fire.

Trap Game!!

Don’t do it Bobcats! It’s a trap!

Do not look past this injured team. Do not start thinking about the Lakers on Wednesday.

This is the NBA, everybody is good. If the ’Cats ease up in anticipation of the battle in So Cal on Wednesday and are not ready for this game tonight, Miller and/or Aldridge, Martell Webster, JuWan Howard or whoever will light them up and a crucial road game that the Bobcats SHOULD win will slip away.

That being said, i think the Cats are gonna come in like professionals and handle their business on Monday evening against an injured and out manned Trail Blazer squad.

My dad is from from the Pacific Northwest and so i've always had a soft spot for the Blazers

From the days of Clyde the Glide, Buck Williams, Kevin Duckworth, Cliff Robinsonn & Terry Porter through Rasheed, Sobonis & Scottie Pippen, through today with with one of my favorite up and coming, non-Bobcat/ non-ACC NBA stars: Brandon Roy. Even Ala Abdul Naby.

The Portland Trail Blazers are my favorite Western Conference team.

It occurred to me. Everclear was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. American Hi-Fi was the opener, and the highlight was during their set when Art came out to rock “Surrender” (Cheap Trick!) with them.

HEYYYYYY CATS FANS

This is of utmost importance so I thought I’d use all caps in the title. I know some of our colleagues and peers are/were fans of NBA Jam. So what I’m getting to is this: there’s going to be a new nba jam and we vote who we want on each team. It changes the teams each week and this week it’s the Bobcats!

Lemonade was a popular drink and it still is.

oh man, thanks

I’ve been voting on the site as of late, and I totally forgot to check it this week. Thanks for the head’s up.

I’m so pumped for this game. Can’t wait for it.

Juwan Howard

I’m happy for Juwan, and I’m glad he’s getting some quality playing time (although at the expense of someone else’s injury). I always like it when veteran players pull it together and have the opportunity to continue doing what they like.

I really wish we could have kept Howard on our team.

Juwan Howard

Has been my favorite Blazer this year. He’s really stepped up to a challenging season, both on and off the court.

Blazers.

The Cats should win

Andre Miller is not going to channel his inner Jamal Crawford and drop 50+ on the Cats tonight. Aldridge is going to get his, but he will not beat the Cats by himself. Charlotte should be able to pull away in the 4th if they play TWC Arena-level defense.
