Basketball Prospectus: WARP for 2006 lottery picks
Got a lot happening on the front page, so I'll share this in the FanShot section... Brandon Roy is way ahead of everyone else in career WARP. LaMarcus Aldridge is second. Guess who's third, ahead of Rudy Gay?
(Side note: Is this section really so ignored that people don't want to post FanShots? I mean, can I type anything I want and no one will notice? I like cheese. Coolio is underappreciated. Freddie Got Fingered is secretly a surrealist masterpiece.)

side note:
YES! Nobody scrolls the whole page now-a-days! I’ve had repeated fanshots with legit topics of discussion that only a few brave souls wander in to discuss. Also, really stupid question. What does WARP stand for? I mean, I’m stoked Tyrus is among good company, but yea. I’m not privy to WARP. Would Already Really Procrastinate-success? Women Always Ridicule-in-the Press? Was Always Ripe-for Picking?

And I’m not a lifelong Niner fan. Lifelong Giants fan, but didn’t care about the 80s Niners (too young) and barely cared about the 94 Niners (thought Deion was spine-crushingly cool — which he was). Only watched NFL because I liked football generally and only occasionally got caught up with the Niners. Didn’t become a fan until the Frank Gore Era, as sad as that is.

yea I became a HARDCORE fan in 2002
the last year we were worth a crap haha. I was the same was as you though. I was a “fan” for most of my life, and then when I got older I followed the crappy Niners hardcore. I have my Steve Young and Jerry Rice jerseys though. I don’t wear them nearly as much as my Frank Gore and Patrick Willis jerseys.

so, uh David
sup? Dude how the crap can our Niners still be in the playoff hunt? What a joke. We need a new QB, and I’m not too stoked on our coaching staff either. More worried about keeping Eric Heitimann(sp?) healthy this next season since he’s the anchor of our O-line. Get Bass back in his original spot, and we’d probably have a decent line. The rookies have played well. I think Anthony Davis is simply having a “rookie” season. He’ll be over these mistakes quick. Crap this isn’t Ninersnation. Sorry dude! Always wanted to shoot the crap with you about the Niners since we’re both life long fans.

A serious answer:
The point of the fanshots is to provide users with a chance to interface on the blog by posting links, pics, etc.
Like the Fanposts, they have their own built in problem(s).
Of course, the hassle with the Fanposts is the 75 word minimum. Even someone as verbose as I often has to work to come up with the necessary word count. That’s it. Because of that you end up with posts that start out with a sentence or two of relevant info or discussion starters followed by a whole lot of incidental “shoo-be-dooby-do” until there are enough to pass muster. That’s it! No biggee. It fulfills the same role as the fanshot, with only that one minor hassle.
Fanposts:
1. When you see one you know the person doesn’t have much to say.
2. A quick glance at the headline will tell you pretty much what’s there. If it’s something you’re interested in, you click. Ben’s pic of Gerald Wallace is a good example. Most of the time though, you glance and pass. (I won’t point out a lousy one)
3. This one’s kind of a Catch 22. Because most people just glance over them instead of actually clicking on them, a lot of people just come up with 75 words and make a Fanpost out of it. Because of this a lot of people spend 5 or 10 seconds cruising the Fanshots and that’s it. The rest of the time is spent either on the front page or the Fanposts themselves. This of course makes it less likely someone will post anything they want seen in the Fanshots etc. etc. etc.
On paper it’s a great idea. But as long as you keep the Fanpost section I doubt many will miss the Fanshots. The Fanpost area is, as far as I know, unique to SBNation sites and is one of the biggest reasons people come here.
When we were planning the new blog, one of the first questions we asked prospective networks we were thinking of joining was if they had a good interactive area similar to yours (SBNation) because it’s one of the things we love most about RoF. It allows the visitors to form friendships and actually communicate with one another.
We’re still building/adding and one of the other things we’re looking for is a good panel widget that will allow us to post links to the sites in the Bobcats blogging family. We don’t want to just stick ’em up there, we want it to actually drive traffic back and forth.
Anyway, the Fanshot area is the section of the site that I’m least likely to spend a lot of time in. Then again, your activity report should show you whether it’s worth keeping or not. If the posting area can be saved, I certainly won’t miss Fanshots. Oh, and Coolio? Seriously? Underrated? What has he contributed to advance his genre in the past 5 years? If there is anything, how about a couple of title names or even a musical interlude?

What type of cheese
You talking a camembert (my favourite), or are you talking about a nice Tasty or Cheddar that you would put on a hamburger, or some of that smelly cheese that French People like.
I liked the link also.
