Bobcats Escape Kings 103-96

The Bobcats nearly wasted a big game from Gerald Wallace with a horrific fourth quarter, but they still managed to beat the Kings in Sacramento, 103-96. It was the Bobcats' third straight win.

Wallace finished with 38 points and 11 rebounds, and had 2 clutch blocked shots in the wild fourth quarter. With Tyreke Evans relegated to the bench with a thigh injury, the Kings went on a furious run, outscoring the Cats 29-13 in the quarter and, at one point, forcing Charlotte into missing 13 straight shots. However, as with the last meeting between these teams, Sacramento simply ran out of time.

The Bobcats next play in Portland on Monday night, and finish this stretch of road games in Los Angeles against the Lakers on Wednesday night. Now 3-1 on this West Coast swing, they're guaranteed to return to Charlotte next weekend with at least a .500 record for the trip.

Hit a wall early in the evening last night and it was all I could do to stay awake through the game. Hence, the brevity. I anticipate full recaps for the Blazers and, especially, Lakers games.

I suspected as much.

It was either:
1. Fell asleep
2. Official Girlfiend of Rufus on Fire intervened.

David;

I don’t feel qualified to write preview articles, so I never replied when you mentioned it a couple of weeks ago. But if you ever need someone to pinch hit a recap here or there I’d be willing to provide one. It’s best if I know in advance so I can take a relevant note here and there during the game, but I can wing it in a pinch as well.
Just let me know if the format requires more than an overview followed by a bad/good summation. Let me know if you are interested in having me do it should the need arise or if if you just want a night off.

Gerald Wallace? The man is bad ass. Plain and simple.

38 pts, 11rebs, 2 assists, 2 stls, 2 blks, .667 Fg%, .800 ft%, .500 3pt%

I guess G-Force wanted everyone to know that selecting him to the All Star reserves was a no-brainer. And it definitely was a no brainer. Most games he’s the be(a)st player on the court.

The only thing that concerned me was that Wallace played over 44 minutes in a game that the Bobcats led by 26 points in the 2nd half. Maybe the Cats could have sealed the deal earlier had their line up had few more doses of fresh legs. It was the 2nd game of a road back to back. I would have liked to seen Wallace play about 5 less minutes and given them to Graham, who only played 2.

& Wait! Before you write me off as a “Graham-lover” or “Hendo-hater”, I wish Henderson would have gotten at least 5 minutes of Jax’ time too – it is just that i have given up on LB giving any 1st half or non-garbage time minutes to G-Fore!!(?) any time on this road trip.

Other notes from this game

1. Raymond Felton’s worst game in a month probably, statistics wise. 3 of 14 FG, 0 for 2 FT. Only 6 pts 3 assists and 3 TOs. The good news is that Felton had 5 rebs, 6 stls & a blocked shot! Plus the ’Cats won, so who cares?!

2. DJ Augustin had a poor game offensively too. However, one thing that has been seldom mentioned over the last weeks during DJ’s recent upswing is that his defensive awareness really seems to be improving, and i would say greatly helping him regain his confidence on the offensive side.

3. D-Brown & Nazr got all of Diop’s minutes against the Kings. LB rode the hot hand Nazr: 17 pts 10 rebs .800 fg% in 25+ minutes, D-Brown 8 pts 3 rebs .750 fg% in 19 min, Diop: DNP CD. Maybe LB is saving Diop to bang with Gasol and Bynum this week?

4. It’s great to see the comment threads so positive, fun, and full of optimism. Winning obviously fuels that….but i do wonder how much of the recent dominant optimism is a result of the lack of a former ROF staple?
