New Orleans trade question
Whatup Bobcats. I have a quick trade idea that I wanted to get your opinion on. Here's the deal:
Diop and Stephen Graham for Posey, Bobby Brown, and Hilton Armstrong and cash.
Posey has lost a step but he is still a good defender who makes the right decsions, rebounds, and shoots the 3. Larry Brown would frigging love him. Hilton sucks but he is a pretty good defender and would provide you a backup bi till Tyson gets back. Brown would probably get bought out since your guard rotation is set. The deal is about equal money once you figure in that part of the salaries has already been paid. Those trash contracts are expring.
We really need a defensive big and Diop would be perfect. I am a huge fan of his game for what it is. He would also let us play Meka a bit at the 4.
Thoughts? P.S. Did you guys ever run Diop and Meka together? Did it ever work. I know on running teams it might be a problem but both would provide great size at their respective positions, and overpower folks from time to time when the set suits us.

Okafor is a weak defensive PF.
He doesn’t really have the foot speed or lateral quickness to stay with a PF with any sort of perimeter-oriented game.

My first thought is that you don't want Meka playing at the 4.
He’s not good there defensively or offensively. We never played him and Diop together that I can remember, but he did play alongside Nazr and they basically sucked it up. You really don’t want 2 slow footed centers in the game at the same time.
I haven’t bothered to look up the contracts, but if they’re expiring this year, then it wouldn’t be bad to shed Diop’s salary. Though that’d be the only benefit to the Bobs.
I don’t see the Hornets doing this seeing as how they seem to be wanting to shed salary as well.
If the Honrets were crazy enough to make that deal I'd take it in a second.

+1
I’d take any combination of Hornets contracts that match Diop’s salary. And if Stephen Graham is in the deal, that’s even better.
Let's expand on that everyone...
Everyone look at the 2 teams and come up with something that would work and both franchises would be willing to do.

Thanks for the input guys.
Glad you guys don’t think this is a screw job. I thought it seemed like a fair deal, but I wasn’t sure. It really is about team needs. We still have some defensive issues, and some serious rebounding issues, and Diop would help both of those issues. Also, this would allow us to be more agressive with Mek’s D, and also it gives us 2 good post defenders, which allow us to single cover post threats throughout the entire game. Big deal.
I definitely wouldn’t put Okafor at the 4 permanently, but I could see the value of 5 to 10 minutes at that spot depending on the matchup (Lakers, Utah etc.)
A guy like Pau or Odom would destroy Okafor at PF.
And it wouldn’t go much better with Okur in Utah.
