Trade Rumors?

Just wanted to know if anyone has heard any trade rumors about the Bobcats?  Are we looking to unload some baggage?  Who would you like to see come to the Cats and who do you REALISTICALLY think we could get/get rid of.  I know most, if not all, of you would agree that we need to shed Tyson Chandler.  His contract is inflated and is causing huge problems with our ability to acquire actual talent in exchange.  Also, Diop's contract is pretty large for his inability to consistently produce results.  I know real, solid, big men are tough to come by in the league, but I don't understand why we can't land a solid sized PF that could double as our C with Nazr as a backup.  I would like to see us take a stab at two guys.  Carlos Boozer or Antwan Jamison.  Either of those guys would add a HUGE amount of talent to the team.  Both add a significant amount of all around game to the team.  While Boozer isn't exactly 7ft, he obviously makes up for in his ability to defend and make shots.   Jamison is a legit 6' 10" guy that would add size and athleticism to our front court.  Considering Washington is having a fire sale, he seems to be the best bet for us to nab in exchange for a few smaller contract players such as Acie Law and Stephen Graham.

Diop for Kobe

About as likely as your scenarios.

+1

Let’s make it a 3 way deal and pick up LBJ for Acie and Graham while we’re at it

I didn't say they would hold water...

Just going with what they were saying…

Let’s Go with Chandler and Augustin for Jamison and Haywood

by andrewlail76 on Jan 15, 2010 11:07 PM EST reply actions

They won't hold water, but this will:

Detroit is openly shopping and this trade works fine on ESPN’s trade machine:

Detroit gets:
Diop and Henderson

Charlotte receives:
Maxiell and Stuckey.
We save a bit on salaries, get a big and a replacement PG if Felton goes Free Agent – Augustin takes over as starter and Maxiell comes off the bench.

Detroit gets more solid in the middle and picks up a point guard with great potential that we’re using as nothing much more than an extra towel boy.

No how about Boris Diaw, acie law, and two future second round picks for Antwawn Jamison

This would make Charlotte really good
We would finally a have a low post scorer and a great rebounder in Jamison, and you could steal him cuz it looks like Washington is rebuilding
The defense might also improve because Jamoison might be a better defender than Diaw.
Bobcats would have four guys in starting linup who are good scorers. Also Jamison, Chandler, and Wallace would be a force on the boards

by MJ5 on Jan 16, 2010 1:44 AM EST reply actions

I like that deal

But I read that Washington is wanting expiring contracts and Diaw’s has a way to go. It would be a great deal if they’ll bite on it though!

since LB isn't going to play em anyway

what about this years first round pick for Antwan. Throw in Acie Law for good measure.

Our first rounder is already spoken for.

Unless the Bobcats go roughly 0-30 between now and March.

maybe like Boris Diaw and DJ Augustin and two future second round picks for Jamison

they get a shorter contract and a replacement for Arenas if his contract is voided

by MJ5 on Jan 16, 2010 2:05 PM EST reply actions

A rebuilding team wouldn't want Diaw for anyone

He has too many years at too much money to be useful to Washington. Trading for Jamison would probably require a 3rd team that could send expiring contracts to Washington. But the Bobcats would probably have to part with Gerald Wallace to get it done. No thanks.

no its the same i mean i guess we are still thin but were not thinner

but here we could add a powerforward
So Dominic McGuire and Antawn Jamison for Boris Diaw and DJ Augustin and a second round pick

by MJ5 on Jan 16, 2010 5:47 PM EST reply actions

As much as I like Jamison

I say the better route is to go for a smaller name player to backup Diaw at the 4. A bruiser inside to compliment his all around skill set.

Jamison is a great player, but we lose continuity if we trade Diaw now. He’s on the upswing and has proven to be part of Charlotte’s current winning formula. A 4 to come off the bench is the only real area of need for this team. It’ll only take a small move to accomplish this goal. Having said that, picking up Jamison could be a real coup if it works out.

No matter what kind of deal we propose, anything that includes trading away D.J. leave our future at pg pretty bleak.

by and1droid on Jan 17, 2010 12:13 AM EST up reply actions

I could agree

Ger a bruiser to give variety to Diaw’s finesse PF play

by andrewlail76 on Jan 17, 2010 3:16 PM EST up reply actions

So you are telling me you would rather have Boris Diaw than Jamison

I still think Antwawn is worth it
But if you want a brusier why not Jason maxiell for Diop, I like that deal

by MJ5 on Jan 17, 2010 4:43 PM EST up reply actions

Really what I'm saying is that we don't need to swing for the fences to get better

Jamison would be a great addition and is better than Diaw. But you would be trading a core piece (a core piece who is helping the team win now). We’ve seen time and time again that continuity is so important to LB’s system. I want Jamison. I’m just saying we don’t need to mess w/ team chemistry right now.

by and1droid on Jan 18, 2010 6:42 AM EST up reply actions

if the bobcats wanna win they gotta take risks

trading dj is a risk, but i believe its worth the risk. Are you kidding Diaw is not part of the winning formula he passes way too much and he doesn’t rebound or score well. Jamison is a fantastic low post scorer, and rebounder. The team needs a low post scorer.
Also if we did this we could replace Murray with nate Robinson great scorer off the bench and even though its not his first option he can dish to teammates well too.

by MJ5 on Jan 17, 2010 12:49 AM EST reply actions

Diaw is part of the winning formula for. He played great against the Suns and the Spurs

He’s not the allstar that Jamison is. I acknowledged that above, but I’m arguing that the team needs a back up 4, not a new starter.

I love the ball movement that we get w/ Diaw and Jax working together. Let’s be realistic. Jamison is great and could take us to the conference finals. He could also struggle to fit in for 15-20 games and have a hard time learning LB’s system. Just look at every other new player that’s come in.

If we trade D.J. now, we’re almost certainly going to over pay for Felton in the offseason. I don’t want that to happen. Nate Rob is a great scorer of the bench, but I’d rather have a true pg. Murray doesn’t need to be replaced. He’s cheap and effective.

McGuire plays 6 mpg for the Wiz. You think he’s getting any minutes in LB’s system?

I’m looking at what makes the most sense for the team, not just cherry picking allstars off of other teams’ rosters. A proposal that I believe to be more realistic and more fitting for Charlotte’s needs would be Josh Boone for Raja Bell’s trade exception (and Graham is N.J. will take him off our hands). He only adds 2 mil in the final year of his contract. He plays D and rebounds (the perfect compliment to Diaw off the bench). I think he’s ultimately better at the 5, and would prefer to have a true PF, but I see this deal as doable. I also think it fills the team’s need.

by and1droid on Jan 17, 2010 10:45 AM EST up reply actions

I have to agree.

Although I am coming to loathe the idea of not having our number 20 next season, I like the idea of paying 2-3 million a year too much just to keep him even less.

Raymond has said he really wants to stay here in the Queen City and an exciting playoff run generates a lot more loyalty than a lottery season, so I’m hoping that even though he turned down a decent deal last off-season, he’ll be reasonable. Every time he comes off the court now he gets butt slaps and fist bumps from LB and the bench squad, as well as a huge cheer from the crowd. I think a $7.5 million (with a 15% or so bump each successive year) is more than reasonable – especially if there are some incentives tagged on for achieving specific stat levels. If he performs, his wallet gets fatter. If he doesn’t, he still gets a paycheck deserving of a starting point guard. Hopefully he’ll feel the same way and we can lock him in for 5 seasons or so.

by Ourdaywillcome on Jan 17, 2010 3:49 PM EST up reply actions

Yea, I really would hate to lose him too

But if he wanted 9+ mil last season, just think what he’ll want a year after shooting 40% from beyond the arc, playing great D, and being an integral part of a playoff run(fingers crossed, but confident).

We need a contingency plan for pg next season. While D.J. has solidly proven not to be the answer just yet, no one else is even raising their hand.

by and1droid on Jan 17, 2010 4:05 PM EST up reply actions

The best thing about those scenarios is that they don't give up Diaw

They allow us to more or less maintain continuity, which is key. I think the Turiaf deal is the most realistic.

any PF would Give This Team Help

I Would Like Carlos Boozer Are Jamison Either One? Both Would Bring A Lot Of Help To This Team. Trade Law And Giop For Either Player.
