Peachtree Hoops Trade Discussion
Idle rosterbation-slash-trade speculation. I admit I thought about it, and I'm open to being convinced a sign-and-trade makes sense for us. Do they want Boris Diaw for Josh Smith, too? (Just kidding... or am I?)

Really?
We should trade the heart and soul of our team for a player who’s been a disappointment since he came into the league?
Remember, kids...don't ever let facts get in the way of your argument.
Shoot if we're intent on going athletic...
It wouldn’t be a bad idea… but then again temper tantrums are not exactly condusive to team chemistry.
I love July ‘rosterbation’.
WHOA THERE!
The article didn’t open (Im at work) I misread and thought it was Diaw for Josh Smith straight up… that was what I was referring to. GERALD WALLACE… NO WAY!
Shoot, they would have to throw in Josh Smith and take Mohammed for me to even think about it.
Marvin Williams? Why?
Only if the goal is to collect the 04-05 Tar Heels, and I think we’ve had enough of that. Just think how good Atlanta would be had they drafted Chris Paul or Deron Williams rather than Williams.
Gerald Wallace is superior to Williams in every aspect of the game save free throw shooting. With this trade, the Bobcats would be transformed into the most unwatchable, boring team in the NBA if not the worst. Why would any Bobcat fan be open to this?
Okay after reading the article...
The poster said they could get Wallace and a ‘sweetener’… they need to lay off their Peach Schnapps in the ATL if you ask me. Like we would give Wallace AND something for Williams
Over the last 3 seasons:
Williams: 13.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.6 apg
Wallace: 18.03 ppg, 7 rpg, 2.9 apg
Yet we need to add a ‘sweetener’??? wow…
But Williams is young!
And he just oozes upside, you know. (Because, well, he hasn’t been very good.)

Williams will be a fantastic defender in the future because of his length. But this trade doesn’t improve anything.

"In the future?"
He’s been in the league for four years. At what point does a player’s potential for exponential gains in on-court ability cease?

The irony though is
when people say “Andrew Bogut was a complete bust!” but Marvin Williams still hasn’t “reached his potential”.
Even though Bogut has put up better numbers than Williams.
Maybe it’s the Australian homer in my though…
They also play different positions.
Williams will never be a true center, which Bogut is. That’s an important distinction when that position is so lacking in today’s NBA.

Would you say he’s a bad defender now? I wouldn’t and I think his defense is only going to get better.

I wouldn't say he's a good defender.
The Hawks were better defensively when he was off the court than on it. That’s actually been the case in each of the last three seasons.
