Around SBN: Off Tackle Empire interviews Rich Rodriguez

I'd be distraught.

Huge trade supposedly nearing completion. We'll have more on this later, but let's just say that I'm not convinced the exchange of years for talent is a good one, though I had to stop and think about it for a moment. (Chandler expires after 2010-11, Okafor after 2013-14.)

I'm more shocked that one of my NBA 2K9 trades has actually come about. (I then flipped Chandler plus others for Rasheed Wallace. Does this mean Rudy Gay, Joe Alexander, Andrea Bargnani, and DeShawn Stevenson are close behind?)

That move would be approximately terrible.

Doomsday!!

This should settle all the disagreement about whether the Bobcats are a playoff team. If they make this trade, there won’t be any playoffs for a long time. This deal is obviously all about cutting costs as has the entire off-season. Bob Johnson no longer has to pretend that he cares about putting a quality team on the floor. Deja vu! It’s Donald Sterling and the 90’s era LA Clippers all over again.

well the good news is

we’re not the grizzles. And we didn’t pick up A.I. (yet).

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

If this move is legitimately going to happen...

I’m done with this team. I’m not bored enough to write posts for the next four years about Tyson Chokeler or Ray Failton while this team wallows in the low lottery, Gerald’s presence notwithstanding.

It kills me to see Okafor go

but trying to put my bias and distraught aside, this trade doesnt appear to be too bad. I think Okafor is a much better talent, but at least the player we receive is capable of putting up comparable stats and has a comparable defensive presence. Its going to be chandlers health more than anything that determines how big of a bust this trade is going to be. MJ and Brown better hope that it pays off, because from a PR standpoint this trade is terrible. The only reason I’m not throwing my bobcat fanhood out the window is because I have a mild respect for Chandler’s game…although this pretty much renders my Okafor jersey useless

what really makes me mad is that it looks like the bobcats are trying to shed salary more than anything else. I understand that it is somewhat of a necessity, but I cant believe that they’re willing to trade their quality big man who has devoted his career to the bobcats since day one while continuing to pay Nazi Mohammed to sit on ass at the end of the bench..fantastic

So, next question...

What’s the going price for Gerald Wallace? Grant Hill and a bucket of bolts? Tracy McGrady and a lifetime supply of pain killers?
