Larry Brown went for the Larry Brown-type player. Although he might not excel at a particular facet, Duke guard Gerald Henderson carries the complete type of skill set demanded by Brown. At No. 12, the Bobcats landed a player who should be an instant contributor. He shoots, he can score in the paint, he rebounds, he contains his man. He should fit right in and might actually earn the occasional bit of praise from Brown. Possibly.

Henderson....

Isn’t a great scorer… anything outside of 18 feet his a stretch. Now having said that… dude can drive and has the leaping ability of … something that jumps really really high… He can play D and the rest will come with experiance! I dont like the bobcats 2nd pick.. They had budinger sitting there and they drafted derrick brown… this baffles me. Buddinger is going to be one of those sleeper picks in the 2nd round. On another note do the bobcats have interest in Turkaglu???

No way we can afford Turkoglu.

And as for Henderson, not only can he drive, but he was among the best statistically in this year’s class when it came to his iso/slashing game, which really is where the majority of NBA wing scoring comes from. Also, think about the pullup jumper he developed this year. He had never shown it before, but it became a weapon for him that was unstoppable at times. I think that can serve as evidence of his ability to improve his game through hard work.
