Bobcats Trade!

I hope terrance williams falls to #12 but if New Jersey takes him why not trade with chicago for there two picks?  We could trade the 12th for the 16th and the 26th. Grab Henderson if he falls or Earl clark. Then at 26 grad Budinger or best available. It's been rumored chicago contacted the bobcats about this trade. I say do it if Williams is gone. You could get a two guard and a back up power forward!

i like it

especially if DeRozan is not there as well. the talent level btwn 12 and 16 is the same so let chicago move up and grab henderson then we can deal with 16 when we pick.

I like Clark, Blair, Jennings, Johnson and even hansbourgh at 16 so i say do it.

26 would guarantee we get a quality SG still

I love ellington, then budinger, meeks, sam young

I say do it

But what are they looking for that would make them want to trade UP?

why do people like Blair....

He is only 6 foot 5 and weighs as if he is a 6 foot 10 guy…. He will have to play power forward and guard bosh… garnett… tim duncan… they would have a field day on him and he is too slow to play any other position. It just baffles me why we would pick him

Because he's a bull and will rebound regardless.

DUMB....

if the bobcats choose blair I am going to give my season tickets back….. We dont need a slow and very undersized PF!! We need a quick, defensive minded SG or SF….. There will be a lot more busts in this draft then in years before so why risk it and pick a sure fire bust!

by B-cat fan on Jun 25, 2009 11:20 AM EDT up reply actions

If you’re going to give your season tickets away because the Bobcats take what would be their fourth option…then I’m just confused.

Blair dominated everyone that he played in college.

Please read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Barkley

Not saying that Blair will ever be Barkley but just because he’s undersized doesn’t mean he won’t be able to play.

I was kidding....

I would never give up my bobcats tickets… they are going to the playoffs this year… that is if they dont make dumb picks

Find me a guy who was so-so in college and then exploded in the NBA. Most of the time college is a key precursor to NBA success. You also completely skirted the height and weight thing.

DeJuan Blair is not the second coming of Tractor Traylor.

A few guys, since you asked

These are guys who have made All-Star teams in the last 10 years:
Joe Johnson
Gilbert Arenas
Baron Davis
Ron Artest
Chris Bosh (came out young, yes, but is a much better pro scorer than he was at GT; McDyess is another who improved in such a fashion)
Mo Williams
Antoine Walker
Latrell Sprewell
Antonio Davis
Jamaal Magloire

This is a fair list but still every player I’ve looked up averaged double figures and most played on prominent teams. They weren’t superstars but then again neither is Blair. But his double digit rebounding numbers really stand out. Including an impressive 5.6 off the glass.

Few people looked at these guys and saw All-Stars but it’s not like they weren’t good in college.

Yeah, but you said so-so...

Either they were mid-teens scorers with 5-7 assists or rebounds or they were 18 or so point scorers one year who didn’t do anything else. I’d say that defines a so-so college career for an NBA player.

How do you figure?

Blair is a beast!

If the Bobcats draft the next Paul Millsap tonight, I’ll be thrilled. Height is highly overrated. Blair’s extremely long arms (7’2" wingspan) more than compensate for standing a couple inches shorter (6’ 7") in shoes than the average power forward. I’m pretty sure he pulled down all those boards with his hands, not his head. Not sure what you mean by slow either, but I’ll assume you wrote that because he’s heavy – definitely wasn’t because you know what you’re talking about.

Larry Johnson (hat tip to BAA below)

Charles Barkley was about Blair’s size.
And I named Millsap, who is only about one inch taller and a very similar player.

by ClipCat on Jun 25, 2009 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Because

Blair is a beast. Yes he is undersized at 6-5 and but he has a 7-2 wing span. Yes he weighs as much as a 6-10 guy because hes a power forward. he weighed 300 ish at PITT but since then he’s down 25-30 lbs. I wouldnt be upset at all if we got Blair especially since we didnt give May a QO we need a backup PF when LB puts in his “small ball” rotation. Can anybody remember that other 6-5 guy that played PF for charoette.. GRAND MA MA!.

Didn’t mean to steal your post, but I obviously agree with you.

Procton

There probably looking to grab Blair or Hansbrough. There looking for some beef up front. I wouldnt mind grabbing daye or clark at 16 and then budinger or sam young at 26. We could still use our mid-level on someone too.
