Bobcats Suffer Stinging 2OT Loss to the Celtics
That was brutal. You can check the game thread for a good deal of the sturm und drang. The Hardwood Paroxysm Twitter feed also stands in well for my running thoughts. I'm particularly drawn to everything about the game that comes after this entry:
Felton! Execute at 12! Not 9! 12!
Yeah. Felton started that play with 9 seconds on the shot clock and, of course, it ended up a shot clock violation.
I've only got scattered thoughts to offer at the moment, following such a tough double OT loss to Boston, 111-109.
===
-- Raymond Felton cannot take 20 shots. I'm sorry, but you're the SEVENTH BEST SCORING OPTION on this team, and that's if we count Cartier Martin behind you, and if we assume you should be ahead of Dontell Jefferson. You see who took the most shots for the Celtics? Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. You are not a hero for taking tough shots, Raymond. You're hurting the team when you do that.
-- The free throw advantage went to Boston 26-7. Last night, at home against the Lakers, the Bobcats had a 22-6 advantage. Both games were rough. Can the league really say the refs aren't affected by home crowds?
-- Eddie House torched the Cats. 7-10 shooting, including 4-7 from three.
-- Kendrick Perkins: 5 blocks.
-- 7 Bobcats scored in double figures. Gerald led the way with 20. Augustin dropped 14, and was 4-4 from three, leading Charlotte to a 10-18 three point shooting night.
-- There wasn't as much grabbing and general defensive thuggery by the Celtics this time around. I wonder if the league told them to knock it off, or if the injuries have taken such a toll they're saving it for the playoffs.

Yeah, or the fact that the Celtics now has the second seed.
And Magic lost to the Raptors. lol
Wow, Magic is seriously not ready for the playoffs. I’ll be SHOCKED if they even go to the NBA East Finals. And I have no emotion for them even winning the Playoffs because it’s not going to happen. ;)
Hahaha, man, I sound like a douche! :D
Quote from article: “There wasn’t as much grabbing and general defensive thuggery by the Celtics this time around. I wonder if the league told them to knock it off, or if the injuries have taken such a toll they’re saving it for the playoffs.”
It’s called Defense and the Celtics take it seriously. Oh and I believe Posey was the one who did the most grabbing and general defensive “thuggery” when he was with the Celtics. That’s his game. ;)
Watch more Celtics games before you bring that up.
Anyways, very good game by the Bobcats. Even though they lost, they were tough the whole game! Even though Wallace was being a pussy the whole game and flopping like a Brazillian soccer player, it was still an entertaining game to watch.
GG.
Posey’s the most prominent one from last year, but you can’t deny it’s a basic piece of their strategy, to set a roughness baseline so that the refs end up giving them more leeway. Pierce does it all the time, though it’s as much an extension of the unwritten rules that allow stars like Kobe and Wade to grab opponents as they go by. Perkins does it all the time, to the point that the Bobcats’ announcers had to mention that he’d shoved Okafor in the small of the back while going up for a rebound on three straight plays. And House and the others still stand up and try to distract shooters who are in front of their bench. On the “legitimate defense” side of things, it’s simply tougher for the Celtics to play their usual floating zone without Garnett.
I’ve watched the Celtics at least a half dozen times this year, both in person and on TV, and it’s enough to judge that they still very much try to play rough so that in crunch time they can do whatever they want and not get called.

Where was GW
Here in the great state of DC, er ah, should I say…District…no feeds from Beantown on the game… so I was relegated to the Yahoo feed…no disrespect…but…it’s like watching ice melt…in the last OT I’m wondering why is RayRay taking these shots and not GW…how is it that everyone in the Bldg knows that their Ray is going to take the big THREE’s and the Cat’s have no answer. Yes CMKELLY 29, it was Nov 24 of 07 and I remember it well since I was there: Ray Allen made a 3-pointer at the buzzer after Eddie House knocked away Jason Richardson’s inbounds pass with 4.7 seconds left to give the Boston Celtics a 96-95 win over the Charlotte Bobcats..
in the last OT I’m wondering why is RayRay taking these shots and not GW
It’s because Felton is the captain, and, for some unspoken reason everyone defers to him.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that you heard Tas Melas call Felton a “big shot guy” this morning. I’m always excited to hear TBJ talk about the Bobcats mainly because it correlates to the fact that the Cats can compete on a nightly basis. Its nice to hear about their overall support because the Cats could use a little noteriety, but Felton as a “big shot guy” is deceiving to people who don’t watch many Bobcats games.
Yes, I did listen to that. I’m a sporadic listener to The Jones, but I knew they’d talk about the game. I don’t know, but I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when I talk about Felton with other basketball people. I just don’t see the two-guardness that everyone else seems to. Absence of pure point ability is not presence of combo guard ability.

You guys were jobbed at the end of regulation.
Rondo crashed into your defender on a run-out. Your guy ( dont recall who it was) was set and it was an an obvious charge. Ref ( Bavetta?) calls a block. ATV (another tainted victory) for the Celtics……..I am surprised none of you commented. IMO, it would never gotten to OT if not for that call.
So I told her," I'll be nicer if you try to be smarter!'..That was a mistake.
It was clearly a block
Sure, Bell was set, but then he hopped over to the right was Rondo tried to step around him. Watch the replay if you can, it was pretty easy to see. He hopped right into Rondo’s path. That’s the reason why nobody complained.
Except for their coach, who was literally jumping up and down. lol
But, yeah, good call, refs. Surprisingly, the refs managed this game well even though they got tricked into thinking that Wallace was pushing around.
Damn, that guy is great at flopping.
LOL…
A cavs fan talking about a “tainted” celtics victory
hahahahahahaha
Lebron james fan crying about a ref/calll
hahahahaHAHAHAHAH, I pity the fool
