Open Gameday Thread Charlotte Bobcats vs. Denver Nuggets

SB Nation Nuggets Blog: Denver Stiffs
Somehow, I failed to notice until now, but Stephen Graham's twin brother, Joey, is on the Nuggets and may see some floor time tonight, given that it's a back to back for Denver. And what if it happens at the same time Stephen is on the floor? I don't know if I could handle it. It'd be like that time the Lopezes played each other and a trooper found me wandering aimlessly somewhere south of Rock Hill, mumbling about the King and Queen of Bohemia...

"Stephen Jackson can take over whole quarters at a time"
One analyst said after we first signed him. I’m still waiting for it to happen. But I got my fingers crossed that it might today.

You have to take that opportunity to do it.
He has yet to dominate the offense like that because he knows there are other weapons. He’s only taken over 20 shots (a benchmark for a gunner like he’s accused of being) once since coming over from GS.
Remember when the Panthers had a good offensive line? Yeah, me too.

Not looking like it tonight
3-10 so far. Doesn’t sound like taking over the game to me. But there’s a lot of game left. I hope he makes me eat my words.

Good start to the game...
Chandler’s gotta stop fouling
I would be too if I hadn't played in a game in so long

DJ needs to shoot the damn ball
I’ve seen at least three wide open shots that DJ has passed up. He’s not gonna get out of LB’s doghouse if he keeps turning the ball over and is afraid to shoot wide open jumpers.
DJ has shot himself
He has a look in his eyes like he’s staring at the firing squad.
Things are looking mighty bad for ol’ Deej.

Turnovers killing us
We are playing very sloppy right now

Denver is dictating the pace
We’re getting caught up in playing Denver’s style instead of making them play at our pace.
+1
Exactly. They’re forcing us to play much too fast, causing hurried passes. Play your style of ball cats

As they went to commercial on that timeout
There was Del Curry on his feet and applauding the Cats from the broadcast bench.
Maybe we can talk him into signing a 10 day. We could do worse. Hell, with Flip and DJ right now we ARE doing worse!
I think we all understand...
Joey and Stevie are twin brothers. Whoop-de-freaking-doo. How many more times can someone bring that up during the broadcast?
Oh God Stevarino
Don’t ask. Just. Don’t. Ask.

That's 4 for Chandler
Let’s see here… The pool had $1700 in it… so we divide that amongst everyone who had 4 or more PF for Chandler and that comes to…. $.01 each. The checks are in the mail.
now i'm $.01 richer!
--Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
--Someone should slap Larry Brown and bring him back to reality..
Gerald Wallace better make the ALL-STAR team...
hes turned into a double double machine and showed he can hang with the best of them
Yeah. I might too.
It’s like getting demoted at work for having a bad week then watching as your replacement does 25% worse than you, and you’re not even given a chance to prove yourself.
You start to get a little bitter and jaded. You probable act a little pissy for a couple of days even when you’re brought back into the fold.

Understanable...
but hes even attempting to take the shot…and one shot he did take he looked so shaky taking it..
I'm attributing it to rust.
I think he’ll shake it off… I just hope he can get out of this slump.
DJ is a good player, he proved it his rookie season. So we know he has it in him, he’s just in a funk.

I can't handle Diaw's inconsistency any more.
I’ve gone from brushing it off, to disappointment, now I’m just flat out pissed off.

I'm getting annoyed as well...
looks like hes outta shape…last year he seemed way more mobile
It's just the +/- but...
Felton: +14
DJ: -11
Can’t blame it on the 2nd unit either. Nazr & Flip are +15 & +8 respectively, while Tyson & Boris are -10 & -2.
Felton's been money lately.
DJ will get it back, it’s just a rough slump right now.

Technical on 'Melo
About time they gave him a T. He has complained on every shot he has missed and every fould called against him.
Highest scoring team in the NBA?
Denver averages 109.7 points per game, the highest in the NBA. We held them to 95. Sweet.
This is our second quality win...
and this shows we are lot better then what we get credit for…
How about we let Flip get one DNP-CD
in favor of giving all of his minutes to Henderson, just to see what will happen.
Blogging at Ridiculous Upside, where my terrible writing meets people's eyes.
it would be nice...
When Henderson comes in, he looks so eager to play…but he also looks as though he knows that he’s not going to play long
How'd yall like RayRay???
6 for 7! 2-2 from the 3! 6 steals! I know seeing him continue to play like this is bitter sweet for all the haters.
I’ll take my medicine too though… I’ve been on Jack’s back lately. But the guy is an assist machine!

Good RayRay is here to stay
All the haters need to find someone else to hate on. Here are some options for you: Chandler or Diaw. I wouldnt really hate on Murray or Graham because they arent supposed to be as big a part of the cats team/gameplan. You can expect inconsistent play from bench players, not starters. Also, Augustin will get out of his slump soon. I wouldnt be too worried about him. Also, please hate on Diop…Hes the worst. Id rather have Hollins.
Still too early south but
The only category Felton needs to really work on is his assists. The day he pulls a double-double with points and assists I will give him at least a daily vote on the AllStar ballot.
His improvement is mighty encouraging. My biggest fear though is that the better he plays the more likely the rest of the league is going to want him. That means he may be playing himself right into being the leading candidate to get traded for the big power forward that LB is lobbying so hard for. It will give Jordan a chance to put Brown in his place. “Here ya go, here’s what you asked for and Merry Christmas. Oh, by the way, it cost you your latest pet project. Have a nice day.”

Why does he have to be an all star to get respect?
This is what a hater is

hmm
“The only category Felton needs to work on is his assists.”
This is an observation – and a mighty respectful one.
My only AllStar comment was that I would vote for him as one of the very best in the league if he improved in that one category. Again, mighty high praise.
I spoke of being fearful he’ll be traded. This would indicate I value him so highly I don’t want to lose him.
Were you looking in the mirror when you said “this is what a hater is?”
Why do we have to erect an altar and sacrifice goats to Felton in order for you to be satisfied we are being respectful to him? You accuse David of having man-love for DJ and now you accuse me of being a hater. If you have actually been reading my posts you already know that my Public Enemy #1 on the Bobcats is Chandler and that Felton is one of my 4 favorite players on the team.
You’ve made some mighty good contributing posts south, but your obsession with Raymond isn’t very realistic. His play of late indicates that he’s really coming into his own and every game he plays at his current level cements his status as one of our absolute best players. He’s attracting a lot of notice from the fans AND from his teammates. But dude, the way you rave about him makes me wonder if he’s either blood kin to you or owes you some major coin.

It's way too early to declare Felton a star.
4 and 4/5th of his career has been decent, 1/5th has been amazing.
I hope he keeps it up as much as the next person, but even if he does keep this up he’s not nearly worth the $10+ mil he wants.

100% agreed
In fact, in my post game “Observations” I said that if he keeps this up for the rest of the season – and bumps his assists as well – he might be worth negotiating with in the $7-$8 million range. But $10 million is lunatic money when guards of MUCH higher caliber aren’t pulling in that kind of money.
