Hoping Gerald and Jack Get Back Soon
We're about to enter a tough period for the Bobcats. They're suffering their first major injuries of the season proper, after wading through Tyson Chandler's and Flip Murray's preseason lower body issues.
Anything involving Gerald Wallace and headaches is scary news, but Stephen Jackson's back injury is also a tough pill to swallow. Especially with Crash's concussion history, they've got to be careful about sending him out there too quickly. However, he's come back and played fairly well after previous head injuries. He and doctors have to worry about long term effects, since he'll probably be able to play through short term symptoms.
As for Jackson, though, a bad back injury is a nightmare scenario for the Cats, given Larry Brown's total opposition to playing rookies. It could be a chance to give Gerald Henderson big minutes with the starting lineup, but more likely, we'll end up seeing Stephen Graham getting 15+ minutes per night, Flip Murray getting a few more minutes, and D.J. Augustin miscast as Felton's back court mate, a situation where both guys' skills aren't exactly complementary.
Get well soon, Jack.

Are back spasms contagious?
I knew they were! Damn you Tyson Chandler! Another man down thanks to our “friendly” center saboteur.

Also
ATTENTION COURTSIDE TICKET HOLDERS: Since it is apparent these back spasms are contagious to those in the vicinity of Tyson Chandler, all courtside ticket holders please save yourself and give your tickets to me. I’m willing to be a martyr and take the back spasms for you! Then again I doubt many courtside people come to this website, if any.

Step Two
Since I’m already willing to take on daunting back problems, I would be glad to help even more people save their backs by accepting heavy, burdensome cash amounts that may be weighing down their wallets which may (or may not) lead to back injury. Please don’t nominate me for Time Mag Person of the Year or CNN Hero of the Year; I’m much too humble, as you can already tell, I’m sure.

But always remember
Keep your wallet in your front pocket.
1. It’s less likely to get ripped off.
2. Keeping a wallet in the back pocket keeps you hip shifted when you sit. This in turn causes back problems and worsens arthritic symptoms as you get older.
Of course the downside is that it makes your package look smaller, but a roll of quarters in the other pocket will offset that nicely.

...or just keep a money clip and don't worry about the rest.

You would have a money clip Procto...
I bet I can guess what’s in it:
1. Unused, expired condom
2. Pocket dictionary
3. Cassette tape of Boys to Men
4. $2.37
5. Bobcats Anti-Fan Club Card

Conspiracy theory time
Okay, after my comments about the announcers in recent days I know I’m running the risk of being labelled a conspiracy nut, but such is life. Try this one out for size though…
1. Wallace calls out Diaw and Chandler saying their effort isn’t what it should be.
2. Jackson backs him up by both defending Gerald’s nightly efforts and saying he is seeing the same problem.
The next night an alert and seemingly healthy Wallace sits out with a bad headache and Jackson bails shortly after the first half with back spasms. I know that later reports change Wallace’s status to a mild concussion and that after the game Brown said he sat Wallace despite Crash protesting and wanting to play. But I’ve also read reports indicating that LB may have cleared his bench and manipulated things the past two games to teach some of his players a lesson.
Both Diaw and Chandler sat out games early in the season complaining of the exact same back spasms that Jackson walked off the court with in New York. I know I’m quite likely adding 2 + 2 and coming up with five, but the irony isn’t lost on me. Isn’t it possible this was designed by LB, Gerald, and Stephen to send a message to the lazier players?
And no, I’m not saying that’s what’s going down. I’m just saying it’s all rather odd, doncha think?
Yes.
They tanked a game on purpose. I couldn’t imagine anything else making more sense.

As I reread what I wrote I noticed something
I noticed that I didn’t say anything about a tanked game. I also seem to recall the Bobcats had a chance to win in the closing seconds against the Nicks. C’mon man, you can do better than that. There’s plenty of stuff in that post for you to tear into. I all but tossed it to you underhand. You should have knocked it out of the park. You’re losing your touch.

"Isn’t it possible this was designed by LB, Gerald, and Stephen to send a message to the lazier players?"
What exactly else would “this” be but tanking a game to prove a point?

I agree with you
If you got folks that are not pulling their weight, you call them out.
I think the point was proven…I also think it shows that Derrick Brown and Henderson will get better with playing time. Brown has shown that and Henderson is starting at square 1. If he can get 15-25 minutes, you WILL see hime get comfortable, and skills improve.
I honestly think that the rookies are scared to death that they will do something wrong, so they pass and pass and get sick when they miss a shot (a la DJ)
Law…why did he drive and try to be the hero?
He’s tired of sitting on the bench and was trying to get positive attention so he could get more playing time…it backfired…but really what did he have to lose?

Seriously...
What was another away game loss…
We should have never been in that position anyway.
Another game where some prior PT for Brown and Henderson give you 2 options that are a bit more solid. Instead, Acie Law comes in for Henderson. Here is my imaginary play…
Henderson catches the inbound pass, he drives the length of the court, and then with his athleticism, dunks over Gallinari for the win.
Or…snaps the ball to Felton…then Felton alley oops to Henderson, who slams it home for the win.
I can dream…right?
by andrewlail76 on Dec 21, 2009 6:06 PM EST up reply actions
If Law makes it, hes the hero
It was not that bad of a look. He just needed to use his body a little bit more and keep gallinari further from him. It shouldve never came down to that play anyways. It probably was not the best time to put him in, so if anyone should take the blame, it should be LB.
You know LB probably told him if he had a clear path to go for it.
He told him something…and it was brief
by andrewlail76 on Dec 21, 2009 6:03 PM EST up reply actions
LB was asked about it during post game interviews
He said he told Law to take it to the 3-point line and go for the win. After explaining that he shrugged his shoulders and said, “but… what are ya gonna do?”
by Ourdaywillcome on Dec 21, 2009 7:40 PM EST up reply actions
Crash is suppose to play on Tues
But Murray is injured as well… so that could mean less minutes for him. Henderson just needs to make the most of every opportunity, and make it blatantly obvious that he can improve this team.

Oh NO! Quick! I’ll organize the prayer circle but someone else will have to arrange for the laying on of hands and pay to have the voodoo priestess flown in from Honduras or New Orleans!
We have to act fast or we’ll be down to our last 4 players that can consistently miss 3 point shots and the last 3 that can blow defensive assignments!

should we trade for Al Jefferson, Elton Brand, Rip Hamilton, or David West? Ive heard rumors they all might be available, the ’Cats have some very legit pieces to throw for each

We don't really have anything the Timberwolves would want.
Our young, tradeable talent is in short supply.

Al Jefferson
is the only one of those guys that would make sense. Elton Brand is basically a MORE injury prone version of Tyson Chandler, and Rip would be a lesser rebounding version of GWALL, and well…maaaaaaybe David West. Marc Gasol…i know he’s not available, but we need a guy like that. Young, huge, and talented.

Hamilton is like Wallace?
How do you figure? He’s a pure-shooting SG. They’re nothing alike whatsoever.

great news
Flip hasn’t been shooting well anyway so, hopefully more time for Gerald Henderson, but I’m sure LB will just play Stevie Graham anyway ugh.

Hopefully less time for Henderson who isn’t much of a better shooter than Graham. I don’t know why the push for him to play more, HE CANT SHOOT. Props to Raymond for dropping 27 the other night, hopefully the rest of the big three will be playing.

Your boy Felton can't shoot either. Hasn't stopped him.
He’s led the team in shots three of his four years despite a 40% mark from the field.

And he's jacked up 3.1 threes per game for his career...
even though he only shoots 32% from three-point land, well below the league average.
