QCH: Boris Diaw's Fade Out
As I've seen noted elsewhere, possibly in the RoF comments, Stephen Jackson's arrival has made Boris Diaw a fairly redundant part of the Bobcats' offense, as Brett from QCH illustrates with the numbers.

Gerald Wallace
still chills with Tupac and Biggie after Bobcats games
--(insert quote, lyric, or joke here)
like i said the other day, it is time to give at least some of Diaw's TFime to Brown or Mohammed and I think it might be a good idea to shed his huge salary moving forward
there are a lot of PFs out there who could play at the same level he has lately; except for a lot less money
--Gerald Wallace is the best player the Bobcats will have..... EVER
--Someone should slap Larry Brown and bring him back to reality..
The fact that he's playing poorly...
Doesn’t imply that we’re going to get better by playing a ridiculous lineup like that.

I'd say put together a package to ship him and Law out to get a player like David Lee or Carl Landry
I still like my trade contest trade.
Mohammed
for
Chuck Hayes
Brian Cook

I'd take that
Gets us a couple of expiring contracts who probably would help the team this year. Hayes is a pretty solid banger even if he’s undersized and not especially skilled. Maybe this could be a deadline deal if Houston can’t pick up a center they like better?
And the Bobcats would pick up a couple more vets that Brown would "trust"
On second thought, I only like this deal if either Brown or Hayes/Cook doesn’t return next season. These guys might become Brown’s new favorites a la Stephen Graham.
Even if Hayes were his favorite...
I think he’d be no worse than our sixth- or seventh-best player. His game isn’t built around numbers, but he’s the kind of guy who helps a team win.

And Hayes actually isn't expiring.
He’s got a very affordable team option ($2.3 million) that could be picked up if he performed well and stuck here. Houston’s gonna need a vet type for their playoff run, and he’d even be useful next year as a more skilled Dikembe to back up Yao.

I have no idea if the following is true...
But, in my opinion, I believe Diaw has realized that there is no legitimate backup PF to challenge him for minutes so he knows he can just kind of coast through games if he wants. Also, I believe Raja and Boris were pretty good buddies and they played off each other well when they were on the floor together. Since Raja has been gone, its like part of Diaw’s game went with Raja. I do agree that Jackson duplicates many of the skills Diaw possesses but I don’t believe that is the only factor that has contributed to Diaw’s regression.
Just throwing some ideas out there to see what everyone else thinks.
Trade away the only legit backup center they have for 3 points, 5 rebounds a game Hayes and 2 points 1 rebound a game Cook. Your ignorance is staggering.
"it's a bad day to have a bad day"
...says the guy who quotes career stats for a guy who's starting and coming into his own.
A player like Chuck Hayes (you know, one who actually has an inside game, rebounds hard, and will defend in the post) is exactly what this team needs. He’d probably move into the starting lineup at the 4 immediately and improve our offensive flow and rebounding immediately. Further, what the hell is our “legit backup center” doing for us? Costing us a ton of money to give us limited production with very little upside. I’d rather have a younger, cheaper guy who we can dump if he doesn’t work out. If he does, though, he’s got a team option for next year and we’ve got a quality young rotation player. Cook is a throw-in to make the salaries in, but he’s expiring, and he’s shown in the past that he’s got decent ability as a true PF for some good Lakers teams. Look at their body types and skillsets as they fit into the roster, and that’s a great deal for this team.

Why are people surprised?
Phoenix must be laughing right now. This is the norm for Boris. Pretty strong for a couple months, then get fat over the summer and never get back in shape. There’s a reason they were so eager to dump him and it wasn’t just because he was sad that D’Antoni left. We should appreciate what he gave us last season and be prepared to move on with things knowing we’ve probably gotten the best already.
Why are Phoenix laughing exactly?
Raja Bell was the lynch pin in getting Stephen Jackson.
Richardson is averaging 15.8 ppg, 5 rpg and 1.9 apg
Jackson is averaging 18.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.6 apg
Okay, and they got Jared Dudley… who’s still averaging less than Diaw in every area despite Diaw’s poor play.
Cat Scratch Reader's resident optimist.
Jackson's also the top option on an awful offensive team.
Richardson is the third or fourth on a great offensive team. If you don’t think he could outperform Jackson’s numbers here (as he did while he was), you’re crazy.
